Cozy hotel on the beachPosted Jul 23, 2017
Having been to only all inclusive mega resorts this was quite a change, in a good way. I enjoyed the tranquility and getting to know the staff. You also saw the same guests daily so it was a very friendly environment. Drinks were very well made and the food was also very good. Bathrooms a little dated but overall a fantastic experience. I would definitely return.

Once you find it...RELAX!Posted Jul 21, 2017
Cons: pool could use some attention...few missing tiles etc...but it was clean and comfortable.
Location: Drive to Chichen Itza or Tulum for the Mayan ruins. Chichen Itza is big, but its so far, too many vendors. Tulum is closer, more reasonable.
We stayed in a ground floor ocean view room near the pool. Rooms are nice and clean, AC worked well. I slept extremely well. The property overall could use minor repairs and tweaks here and there but nothing worth complaining about. Location of our room was right by the pool and bar but it was never too noisy for us. We spent very little time in the room. If you stay here...and are considering the option of paying a little extra for the included breakfast and dinner...DO IT. Food was outstanding and plentiful, awesome waitstaff, etc... Seriously, two of our best meals in Mexico were dinner at the hotel. The beach is beautiful, but not huge. They have clearly brought in some new sand...it's deep and soft...but the beach isn't great for swimming right in front of the hotel. You only have to walk down the beach a little to get to a better swim spot. I also like being a few miles away from Playa town center. We had a rental car and made several easy trips to town for shopping, dining options, and exploring the area. You will need navigation to find the hotel from the main road and look closely for the signs, but once you find it...RELAX!

Great place to unplugPosted Jul 18, 2017
This is a great hotel to relax! No drunk teens or waiting in long lines. Staff will know you by name and is willing to help. Again not a party hotel.

Short GetawayPosted Jul 5, 2017
Cons: Food quality could be a little better and mattress is not the most comfortable.
This is a great little property if you are looking for a calm and relaxing experience. Food is decent quality, staff is all friendly and bungalows are a great alternative to the standard room experience.

Small hotel with a big feelPosted May 23, 2017 on Orbitz
Pros: Restaurant - food was amazing. Service was excellent.
Cons: Bed comfort. Bed too firm and needed more pillows. A/C is right over the bed so you either have it blowing directly on you are you are too warm.
Location: You'll need to take a cab to downtown Playa. You can walk along the beach but there's not much you can get to on foot.
This was our first stay in Playa del Carmen so I picked this hotel based on reviews. We prefer smaller hotels and love the Tulum area (where we spent half this vacation and at least part of every other vacation in the area). We were surprised when we arrived as it felt a lot larger than it is (50 rooms). When you arrive you walk through past the restaurant (seats 90) and the pool (very nice large pool) to get to the rooms. The building for the main rooms is 3 stories (be aware that you may have a 3 floor walk-up to get to your room). Only the front-most rooms have much of a beach view (we were in the front set on the third floor - 506- and did have a really nice view). Rooms are pretty standard beach rooms, nothing really special. My husband's comments upon entering let me know he was a bit disappointed. Overall, though, they weren't bad and they were clean. We've just gotten a bit spoiled in Tulum. The only real complaint we had in the end with the room was that the bed was not comfortable (too firm) and we could have used more pillows. Our room included breakfast and dinner and this is where we really were surprised. The food was outstanding. Breakfast offered a continental buffet or a full menu (included with our room). Dinner was a 4-course fair that changed each night and both nights we had amazing food. Service was excellent throughout the resort. All in all it was a great stay, and we would recommend it if you stay in Playa.
Good place for the right audiencePosted Apr 28, 2017 on Hotels
It's a good spot for couples looking for a very chilled time (younger or older) or families. The staff are helpful and friendly and the place is actually pretty cool. Personally..unless I'm with someone else I'd probably skip Playa all together and head to Tulum

On the beachPosted Apr 26, 2017
Pros: Location and laid-back local vibe.
Location: Close to most of the attractions in Riviera Maya.
Walk out of your room to the sand and beach. Quaint, quiet, and unique beach resort. Family friendly, good food and wonderful staff.

Quiet friendly hotel on the beachPosted Apr 23, 2017
So happy to have found hotel. We are a family of 4 with two children, ages 10 & 12, stayed for a week. Our family is not the mega, all inclusive resort type who never leaves the resort and eats all meals on site but we did like that breakfast and dinner were included here. Completely happy with our garden bungalow, staff, location, everything. Loved the beach bar, beach patio, pool, and hammocks hanging in the shade everywhere. Felt very safe and welcomed by hotel. Staff is extremely friendly and accommodating. We do not sit still long before we feel compelled to set out for an adventure. Location is the perfect spot if you want to see the incredible sights nearby. We had a car for the week and could eat breakfast then venture out for the day and make it back in time for dinner except for day we went to Chichen Itza. Woke at 5:30am to get there by 8:00am and so glad we beat the heat and crowds that were arriving as we were leaving at noon. Would stay again and would recommend to anyone who does not want a mega resort, wants to be centrally located, and is interested in seeing the incredible sites and Mayan culture. We loved tulum, coba, Chichen Itza, cenote dos ojos, cenote samula, xcaret. Even 5th avenue in playa was fun to walk and shop for a few hours. So much to see, a week is not enough.
