This is our 2nd stay & we love the resort. The Fives is all about the positive fun vibe you get. It's a classy resort but is not filled w/ snobby pretentious people. You'll find a diverse group of visitors. There's families and couples, older and young, all races, and various nationalities all together having a great time. The rooms are really cool & have full kitchen (including a stove), lots of cabinets, patio, dining table, TV's, large tub, modern shower, extra powder room, & double sinks in the bathroom. There's several restaurants on site and the food is very good. The property is well maintained and includes an enclosed jungle area with a walkway for guests to explore. The pools are amazing. The main pool extends at least half the length of the resort (lazy river style). There's an adults only pool with bar and seating. There's also a large pool right by the beach that gets very lively. 4 enclosed bars, bars at the pools, and around a couple more around the property. The Fives is nicely situated in area that's a 10-15min drive to downtown Playa del Carmen, 30 min ride to Tulum (if you head south), 30min to Cancun (if you head north), & 15min to various water activities. You'll really like The Fives & Playa del Carmen if you don't want the well developed commercial setting of Cancun. They need to improve their check-in process. The resort shows it age at times and they need to replace/repair some minor things in the rooms (fixtures) and around the resort.
