Pros: Large rooms, very friendly staff. Good food, superb gardens. Traditional style design and not the normal concrete block building.
Cons: Only one bar where everything took place. This was outside by the pool. The nightly entertainment was held there and is open to drafts
Location: Very convient to both playa ingles and San Augustine. Bus station adjacent to hotel. Buses take you virtually anywhere on the island.
Arrived 6th Feb and the hotel was full. We were allocated a room at the front of the hotel overlooking a road, however the reception staff said this would be for one night if we wanted to move to a room overlooking the pool and gardens. Which we did. The rooms were large and decorated in a pleasing traditional style. The dining room cannot hold everyone at once hence you have to chose a sitting. there were three, 6,7 and 8. Any entertainers play in the one bar the hotel has which is outside around the pool. The entertainment was of a very high standard. Because it is outside and February, it did get quite cold on some occasions. Bar prices were very competitive compared with nearby establishments. to sum up we spent a fabulous two weeks in mostly strong sunshine in a fabulous hotel with great staff and used the buses to go to other resorts on the island. Highly recommended.

Hola Isabel, We love to read your feedback on Expedia. Detailed commentaries like yours are very helpful - on one hand for our clients to inform themselves about our services (like you wrote for example about the dinner sitting), and on the other hand for us / for the entire team. As we have the goal to improve ourselves constantly, it is very important to receive suggestions from our clients. For those reasons, we would like to thank you for feedback, we appreciate your nice and constructive words. Furthermore, we would love to see you again in the Parque Tropical. Kind regards, Quality Management Hotel Parque Tropical

An Oasis within the concrete of Maspolomas

Posted Feb 17, 2018
Pros: Probably the best features are the gardens / pool area and fantastic buffet dining.
Cons: After approach, management agreed to enhance numbers of British TV channels / radio / newspapers, etc to make Brits feel more welcome.
Location: Right on sea front and beach. Great promenade walk in each direction and Sand Dunes within moderate walk. Alongside main bus station.
We stayed for five nights having stopped for four nights in the mountains and were extremely pleased that we chose this Hotel. The staff, gardens, food, facilities, entertainment and above all prices are all of are really good standard and we would definitely return. We are not big fans of buffets for Dinner but the quality, variety, presentation and service are exceptional with quality wine being available from Euro 12. One major factor for Brits to be aware of is that Hotel Tropical is geared very much towards the older German holiday market which has both its advantages and disadvantages. Also we had a hire car and the Hotel does not have any parking and whilst limited free on street parking is available, be prepared to pay Euro 3 per day. Overall - a great Gran Canaria hotel with the standards found on a Cruise Ship!

Buenos días David, Thank you very much for taking the time and writing us a feedback on Expedia. We love to read that you enjoyed the stay with us at the Parque Tropical. We also highly appreciate the kind commentaries regarding our garden, dinner and especially our staff. However, as we try to improve ourselves and our services every day, it is very important to receive as well suggestions, critique & advices. Therefore we estimate the feedback regarding the British TV and radio channels, as well as the newspapers and the wellbeing of our British guests. Anyway, it would be a pleasure to see you again very soon. Best regards, Quality Team Hotel Parque Tropical

Friendly hotel beautiful central gardens

Posted Dec 21, 2017
Pros: Exotic central gardens and pool.
Cons: The double beds. Tea making facilities in room. (Missed our morning cuppa!)
Location: Good position near the beach and in a better less densely packed location.Bus trips to various places from right outside hotel.
First night we slept in a creaky four poster double bed, (didn't sleep well.) Moved to another room with silent beds for the remaining nights. Only other minor complaint was the faint smell of people smoking, wafting up to our room from the gardens in the evening.

Very comfortable hotel with lovely gardens

Posted Feb 22, 2017
Pros: The gardens and restaurant and the staff.
Cons: The tennis court is in bad condition and should be refurbished. There should be no charge for court use or the use of the safe.
Location: Near beach and bus stop. Walks all the way down to the dunes and up to St. Augustin.
We were very happy with most things at the Parque Tropical. We moved our room after the first night as the first one looked over the road and was noisy. No problem at all to change for Bonnie at the front desk to change it for one overlooking the pool which was spacious and very comfortable. The restaurant is excellent serves up a lovely breakfast and supper buffet. The staff are exceptional - helpful, friendly and ever smiling. We loved the way Juan Carlos the food and beverage manager carefully monitored all aspects of the restaurant and did a great meet and greet job!

Fantastic Hotel,close to beach

Posted Nov 24, 2016
Pros: The food, the staff, the location and the gardens We both loved the chef who cooked the omelettes, meat and fish to order, she was quite a character
Cons: The motor on the fridge was always on,probably due to the warm weather, but without earplugs it kept us awake and the bed creaked loudly
Location: Close to the beach Buses and taxis around the corner Plenty of shops, eateries Far enough from the centre to be peaceful
Very impressed with every aspect of our stay. Reception staff were very friendly and helpful. Our room was spotlessly clean throughout our stay. The food was delicious with a variety of hot and cold dishes every day. The desserts were divine. We learnt some basic Spanish phrases before we traveled, and this was greatly appreciated by the staff, who in turn would practice their English with us, and also taught us a few more Spanish phrases. Complimentary slippers in the room and well stocked toiletries. Safe can be hired for 2 euros a day. there was also beach towel and bathrobe hire, which we didn't use. Fridge in room was useful, although in the heat milk only stayed fresh for 2 days. Bed was huge and very comfortable.Quilt was far too warm for us so we used the extra blankets provided instead. The hotel garden was well maintained and a pleasant atmosphere. The bar and evening entertainment were very good with a variety of acts, mainly English or multi lingual The hotel is mainly occupied by German guests, but we were never made to feel inferior and all the staff were very welcoming. We only used the pool once, as preferred the beach, but it was warm, although the sunbeds don't get full sun all day

Pros: Rustic charm. Great choice of food. Attentive staff. Beautiful gardens.right close to beach shops and bus stop.
Cons: Well cannot do anything about the Germans... No Air conditioning or fans
Location: Nature park and Aqua park nearby. Shops and a variety of restaurants,Beach and bus station
very nice. But over run with Germans.Everything right down to brochures and TV.No chance with sunbeds, had to compete in dining room etc. They were very arrogant and quite rude. When i go to Spain i expect to feel im in Spain not Germany....

You have been warned !

This is a very pleasant hotel conveniently situated near to the beach. However not all rooms have air conditioning. The one I stayed in did not have and for that reason I would not stay there again. It was very unpleasant ! When booking it is not possible to tell if the room has air conditioning as no mention is made of this. I thought it was a reasonable assumption that a hotel in Gran Canaria which is hot all year round would have this facility .
