The hotel design, center pool, rooms and staff were all exceptional. They made dinner recommendations and reservations and with an early flight out made us breakfast to go!

An amazing place with EXCELLENT customer service. Breakfast was very good and great location. The only thing is on this site, parking is VERY limited and only available on first come first service. Good to know when you arrive late.

The staff are incredible. So helpful and nice. Helped with day trip arrangements and did not hesitate to make our stay very comfortable. The location is perfect…everything is very near by. The history of building is very interesting… if your looking for history and charm…stay here and you won’t be disappointed…

The hotel staff were very pleasant and accommodating. Room was 1st floor above ground backing on to a more travelled street than the front of the hotel, which is much quieter. Traffic along the cobblestone streets could be noisy at times.

Nice little hotel but at $310 per night, the price was too high. Parking was limited to 8 spaces for a hotel that has 59 rooms. We spent the previous 4 nights at another hotel, the São Miguel Park Hotel, which had lots of parking for our rental car and a nice room for about half the cost per night. We booked this hotel for the final two nights of our trip because São Miguel Park Hotel was already sold out. The staff at Hotel do Colégio was great, however, and the breakfast was very nice. Just a bit too pricy.

Great central hotel with appealing character with the stonework in the lobby area. Very nice comfortable rooms (other than the bed being a bit too firm for us). Nice pool / bar area, good breakfast buffet. Staff all very helpful (especially with the underground parking!). We really liked the location, central to many restaurants, the city gates square, parks etc.

Excellent accommodations. Very close to center of town. Less than 10 minute walk to city gate and waterfront . Bonus was the underground parking that the hotel provided. Parking on the street was very confusing. The free buffet breakfast was also great

Great staff, good breakfast. We had a standard room. Two single beds pushed together, plastic under sheets & not comfortable. The a/c didn't work, room was warm, with window open it was loud from passing cars. Bathroom was dated, room needs a makeover. The superior room on last stay was lovely, the standard room was disappointing. We'd stay at this hotel again but not in a standard room.

I stayed at Hotel Do Colégio for a week in early July and had a great stay. Check-in was very easy and I was able to get into my room early, which was much appreciated after my overnight flight from the US. The two women who often worked at the desk together were extremely kind and helpful. The room itself was clean and had everything I needed (I did ask for an electric kettle at the desk). I did not use the breakfast, dinner, or pool, but from what I saw of the building everything was clean and looked nice. The hotel is, in my opinion, in just the right spot in Ponta Delgada. It's an easy and scenic walk to the water and every attraction, as well as a couple grocery stores. During my stay there was a music festival going on at the church up the block and if I opened my window I could hear the opera music, super cool and unexpected! The reviews saying noise from neighboring buildings/rooms was loud aren't exactly wrong, but I'm from NYC and I expect a decent amount of noise if I'm in a very old building in the middle of a city. With the windows closed, the AC on, and my tiredness from a long day of being a tourist, I slept just fine. Overall, I had a great stay and I definitely recommend.

I've never quite encountered a less attentive staff. They rarely answered the phone. And often no one was at the front desk. Only one of the front desk staff (on night shift) was amazing! So helpful! But without her, I wonder how anything else would have happened.

First & foremost, the staff are all great & friendly. And, the property is perfectly located. The ONLY issue we had was the A/C started to fail on Saturday. And, it continued into a hotter Sunday without any urgency to get a repair person out. Every unit in the hotel was affected. I wonder who else was incredibly uncomfortable because of the humidity and warmth?

We really enjoyed our stay at the hotel. The first room had a slight pest issue but they provided a great alternative room. The complementary breakfast was great and most of the staff was amazingly helpful and kind. The room was always cleaned and the space seemed clean most of the time. It was quiet, and although the street was a bit messy, it felt safe and was centrally located. I would definitely recommend and visit again!
