Great hotel. Good range of quality amenities

Made regular use of the lagoon pool and bar (in the afternoon) after morning use of the gym and fantastic lap pool. Beach about a 10min pleasant walk away. Dinner in restaurant highly recommended

Easy, relaxing & great staff

Posted Aug 4, 2015
Pros: rooms, facilities, bar, staff,
Cons: Just make sure that you leave on an airport transfer 3 hours not 2 before a domestic departure.
We just stayed 11 nights at the QT and the experience was terrific. The staff were fantastic and I was super impressed by how well the place was operated (especially when you think that a lot of these staff are seasonal). Unlike other resorts I've stayed in at PD they were helpful, engaging and knowledgeable and nothing was too much. Rooms are quite modern and nice furniture in them, beds were comfortable. Facilities (gym, pool, bar, restaurant) are all top notch. If you're into swimming there is a 25 metre lap pool separately next to the gym. We had a 2 year old with us and a play ground wouldn't go amiss given the ample space they are situated on, but otherwise it was fine for kids - he loved the pool. Be aware that in PD you get the shuttle bus in and out of town which is $5 each way which can add up (on top of airport transfers $40) so think about whether to do this or get a car for your stay. Also IMPORTANTLY double check the pick up time of the bus to get back to the airport - we made it with 2 minutes to spare so ensure you have 3 hours prior to departure for domestic not 2 as was advised by the hotel.

Spacious accomodation close to Golf courses.

Posted Aug 2, 2015
Pros: Friendly staff, easy parking, beautiful settings.
Cons: For twin beds, one size up or 2-Queen bed, better storage, bathroom (see above)
Location: A few minutes by car/shuttle from main drag in Port Douglas, easy way out to Cairns or Mossman. Palmers Golf course & small shopping mall nearby.
This is a large, spread-out complex of two-story buildings. We had a unit on the ground floor, a few steps from the pool. Our bedroom and lounge were ample but our two single beds too narrow and during our 8 days stay we never got single bed sheets. Bathroom is spartan with a shower that overflows the entire floor and no tub nor a vanity shelf big enough for two people's things. MW oven, two hot plates, toaster etc are OK for making breakfast or a simple meal; the small fridge is useful only after clearing it out of all the minibar stuff. TV in lounge is great, the bedroom TV not so good; could also do with some extra channels. Storage is also tight in a small wardrobe with not enough hangers (as usual). The pool, is big but more a wading pool for children than a swimming pool - not deep enough for most of it. There is no hot tub that would come in nicely on a cold day. TH free Wifi (Password at Reception) works great. QT has a friendly bar that serves drinks and snacks at reasonable prices; we never made it to the main restaurant that offers very good looking buffet dinner for $65 pp; we were never really hungry enough to do justice to this spread...... And finally, for Golfers, this is a good spot, at walking distance from the Mirage Golf Course ($89 special after 2.30 pm for green fees (9 holes), cart, clubs, balls, tees and even a voucher for a drink!) To Port Douglas, there is frequent shuttle service ($5/each way).

Trendy, comfortable and affordable resort

Posted Jul 28, 2015
We really enjoyed our stay at QT. It's a fairly standard resort but with a nice attention to design, detail, cleanliness and staff friendliness. The main pool is lovely, with a good pool bar. The fitness centre is good, and has it's own 25m pool with lanes, and tennis courts. It also had a Moonlight Cinema on the grounds while we were there. It doesn't have beach frontage but it's only a short walk to the beach. We had a room with a small kitchenette that was useful - but otherwise the pool bar food and the breakfast buffet was reasonably good. The buffet wasn't quite as good as QT Gold Coast but still enjoyable. Overall recommend for the very reasonable price.

Clean hotel. Under staffed!!! July 2015

Posted Jul 11, 2015
Pros: Rooms were spacious and clean.
Cons: Hotel should roster more staff on. Ventilation for bathroom, kitchen cook top and clothes dryer is required. FREE shuttle service
Location: too far to walk to Port Douglas centre. Shuttles are often but costly. $5 per person each way (it adds up) Short walk to four mile beach thats it!
We are a family of 4 and stayed here from 27th June 2015 - 05th July 2015 The hotel itself was very well kept and clean. Facilities are also very good and a great family friendly place to stay. Staff were all pleasant and accomodating. Biggest problem was that there was just not enough staff rostered. Waits at pool bar were ridiculous. With only one staff member (who tried their hardest and were very apologetic) it was impossible to keep up with demand. One particular day saw a 2 hour wait for lunch to be served from the time it was ordered. Rooms were serviced but on some days at 5pm which did not suit us as we were getting ready to head out. Breakfast only saw one Chef. Needless to say the buffet consistantly ran out of eggs and bacon. Management obviously need to revisit rosters and accomodate accordingly. The whole place seemed to be run by kids.

Far too noisy for us and a little quirky.

Posted Jul 6, 2015
Pros: Room size
Location: Further out of town than most
noisy for us and a little quirky. It's a redo of Rydges resort and Reef resort in one. Lovely room with lots of space but that's it!!! Dining room only buffet and nil for vegetarians. Wouldn't stay there again

Not as good as expected

Posted Jul 6, 2015
Pros: It was comfortable
Cons: Everything suggested above
Location: It was close enough
There was mould on the pool seats, the pool was freezing and the restaurant was way over-priced. They didn't replace the shampoo etc unless I asked, even though they could see they'd been used. We were on the 3rd floor and there was no lift for carrying bags or as an alternative to walking.
