Mediterranean Port Douglas reviewPosted Aug 2, 2015
Pros: Spacious Quite
Cons: Fly screens on doors and windows Rubbish bins removed from around pool
Location: Sunday Market in the park very good Ladies would love the array of very reasonable costume jewellery
We spent a week at the Mediterrean .There were a couple of things that we we felt were disappointing with this facility. There were no fly screens on doors and windows so they could not be opened due to mosquitos present, which made the appartment stuffy .You had to relie on the air conditioning for ventilation . The rubbish bins were located behind a fence very close to the pool ( unheated) and you constantly got a smell from the rubbish when around the pool or near the spa Foxtel was advertised but next to no service . Some bedroom windows looked directly into another appartment also . We found no problem with spaciousness or cleaniness or appointments.

ComfortablePosted Feb 26, 2015
Pros: Great room
Cons: Not very clean and the AC was bad. Bathroom fan didn't work
Location: Too far from restaurants to walk but the location was private and quiet.
Very nice apartment and reasonably priced. The staff was not there when we arrived and had to wait about an hour for someone to arrive to check in. The pool was dirty and the room needed cleaning but otherwise the room was excellent.

Nice but a bit far from the actionPosted Jan 14, 2015 on Hotels
The accomodation is quite far from the centre and bus service is infrequent and expensive if more then 3 people have to travel from and to the centre every day. The apartments are very tidy and spacious but need a bit of maintenance. Hosts are friendly and very helpful.

Great Apartments, Helpful StaffPosted Oct 6, 2014
Pros: Position, staff, rooms
Location: 10 min walk to the beach, or a 2 minute drive. Good restaurants and a bottle shop really close, town centre only 1.6km.
Great Apartments, fully equipped kitchen, washing machine/dryer etc. Staff really helpful with things like beach towels and great advice about trips, restaurants, coffee etc. Will definitely be back

The MediterraneanPosted Sep 18, 2014
Pros: Spacious, quiet no screaming kids, nice pool area. parking to the door.
Cons: Bathroom and shower. Kitchen and exhaust. Needs a high and low fan switch for air conditioner (very annoying)
Location: On the port Douglas Road, You can catch a bus into town, but we hired a car form Hertz $700 10 days. Heaps of things to do.
Two older persons booked in, found host very informative. 15 steps up to room ( I have sciatica). Room had an over powering "freshener " smell. Had to leave doors open. My guess is that in Port Douglas everything can get pretty smelly with the humid climate. Bed was good. Two large singles pushed together. Bathroom - well I don't like those showers in baths. There were no safety grips, so I had to manage to climb in and out without going "head over tit". Again a powerful "freshener " smell. Enough towels etc. Kitchen, don't try to cook prawns as we did, the "exhaust" is just an oil filter and there is no connection to the outside, so all the cooking smells go straight back into the kitchen. That smell took two days to get rid of. Outside pool very nice but too cold ( I have stayed in other resorts so I know what temp a pool should be). Caretaker trying to save money on power Conclusion. The 15 or so units are privately held, so owners want to maximize their profits. Our unit DEFINITLEY needs a makeover, but with a total cost to us of $2601 for 10 days incl airfares return from Melbourne, can we really complain?

Location...but I would not call it 4 star hotelPosted Sep 1, 2014 on Hotels
Central location, not too far from the central street, but on a quite busy Port Douglas Road, so if someone does not like noise like myself I wouldn't stay there again. In addition, the road was under construction, so there was a prominent smell every morning and afternoon has been a mixture of dust, pulverized concrete and diesel fuel... and it was impossible to get to the beach as there was the road was fenced off for construction, one have to drive or walk long way to get to the beach It was advertised as a self contained studio, but it actually is a standard hotel room - no microwave, small fridge, so it was a bit disappointing. Overall, it is a solid 3 star place - you get what you pay for and the rates were reasonable.
