Cons: Check-in is a a joke. The apartment is standard but for the price the least they could include is a bar of soap. Would not return to this accomodation
Check-in is a a joke. We didn't receive any notification about picking up keys from a shop a 5 minute drive away. That would be fine if it didn't close at 4pm! Since check in is at that technically gives guests a two hour window to pick up keys. A text message was apparently sent to clearly a wrong number(not many mobiles start with 1600) and at the minimum an email should also be sent. We met another couple who had the same problem when arriving and they told us where to go. At the office we were told we were 'lucky' that hadn't closed as we would be charged $20 late pick up fee! (We arrived at 4:20pm unaware that there was no reception.)The apartment is standard but for the price the least they could include is a bar of soap. We have travelled the world and even in the most basic accomodation there is soap and shampoo. Our balcony overlooked residential gardens. No view. We did secret hotel on Expedia so this was not our choice. It is overpriced and under delivers. We had a 'two bedroom' apartment which was really 1 bedroom with two single beds in the hallway. Would not return to this accomodation. There are higher quality options for a cheaper price in the area.

The apartment was nice and new and had everything we needed. The beds were uncomfortable and the toilet had a bad smell due to bad ventilation

Good location, but dirtyPosted Dec 9, 2013
Pros: The location
Cons: Room and amenities cleanliness
Location: Shoal Bay, Nelson Bay, Toboggan Hill Park
Great location in Shoal Bay, but there was a constant smell of either garbage or sewage wofting through the apartment, plus the barbecue was absolutely filthy, and the food tasted disgusting, guys you really need to step up your game, I am tempted to ask for a refund because I was that disappointed with the room, would not recommend.

Poor new management - noisy location (traffic)Posted Nov 25, 2013
Winning Holidays has taken over the "management" of these apartments. My experience with the manager of the office in Shoal Bay was very disappointing. No clue about service. We paid via bank transfer $590 - actual price was only $530. Did not wanted to return difference. But yes on top of this they also charge $20 cash payment for key collection out-side office hours. I do not recommend Winning Holidays in Shoal Bay or the Shoal Bay Beach Club Apartments. But yes Nelson Bay/Port Stephen is a great place.....

Great spot close to beachPosted Oct 9, 2013 on Hotels
We were upgraded to a two bedroom although we had originally booked a one bedder and sofa bed luckily the lovely front desk lady upgraded us as i saw the condition of the sofa bed and would suggest that no one other than a child should sleep on this.Couch and pillows on it were dirty and worn however all other amenities were spotless. Bathroom was incredibly small (coming from a petite 5'2 girl) with a broken towel rack and only one roll of toilet paper we had to purchase everything else. The place is great for a short stay as it is close by to the beach and relatively new I would stay here again however i would not share even a 2 bedroom apartment with another couple. Service at the front desk was delightfull and helpfull.

Good place, good valuePosted Oct 6, 2013 on Hotels
Good position near Shoal Bay with the beach at the end of the street. Check in was not allowed before 2pm (told to come back at 2pm) and apartment was without BBQ as mentioned in the advertisement. Pool was extremely small but had a "gym" on the top level. Essentially, good value for $ but not outstanding.

our stay was wonderful even if was our first time in the area and spending only one night. We are looking forward to visiting Port Stephens and staying at the same place again.

The bed was very comfy, the bedroom had built in wardrobe. The bathroom was a shower/toilet combo, a little small but adequate. The lounge/dining/kitchen was open plan and light and airy. Balcony of bedroom/loungeroom overlooked main road, however traffic noise did not appear to be a problem. There were no flyscreens fitted to balcony doors. No views of nearby beach, which was 200 meters away. Nearest cafes & local shops about 1.5km.

Nice apartments - close to beach, self containedPosted Sep 21, 2013
Pros: The fact it was self contained and its location to the beach.
Location: Location of the Shoal Bay Beach Club apartments is excellent - within a short stroll to the beach, shops, restaurants.
Happy with the location to the beach & nearby shops - walking distance. Perfect for families quiet as well.
