Beautiful set out with parking available

Posted Mar 11, 2017
Pros: Central to town and very neat and clean environment.
Cons: N/A
Location: very near to the town and wharf. Plenty of eating facilities around the hotel.
The staff were very accomodating. we had an early flight out of Vanuatu and the staff sent the breakfast with some fruits, juice and milk into our room overnight so that we could eat something before we left for the Airport

Nice room, unprofessional staff

Posted Mar 2, 2017 on Hotels
Reception staff were unprofessional talking about using the managers account to get them free alcohol. I wanted to check in early and was told, despite the hotel being empty, that the computer system was down and they couldn't book me into a room, even though I showed them the room I had booked for on the app. A decent run hotel would know which rooms were free of which room type. I thought this showed poor management. There was no communication and I had to ask what was happening when trying to check in. I was given my welcome drink at the reception desk instead of being invited to sit down and relax. I asked for a late checkout with the night receptionist who said this would be fine. At 9:45am I was then receiving calls about me vacating the room. When I informed them that I had organised late check out last night they said they had no record of that and I would have to pay. This charge was then revoked but my rest disturbed. The hotel is clean and I was very happy with the room, just a shame about reception staff!

Dear Lisa, Thank you for your feedback. We were disappointed to read that you did not have a pleasant check-in and check-out experience and we can assure you that we will investigate this matter. We know our reception staff will do everything in their power to check in our guests as soon as possible however, on the occasion our guest arrive earlier than 2pm, it may require a few phone calls to housekeeping team to clean the room. We provide late checkout to our guests as long as the room is available however, we have a fee for late checkout. We apologize to you if our staff wasn’t able to give you the clear details about this. We are glad to know that you are happy with the room we've allocated to you. Thank you again for raising this matter to us and we will ensure that this would never happen again. We look forward to having you again on your next visit here in Vanuatu and if you would be willing to give us a chance to turn your experience around. It would be such pleasure to welcome you back in The Melanesian Hotel with new and better experience. Kind Regards, The Melanesian Hotel Port Vila, Vanuatu

Average, reasonably priced hotel.

Staff did not do pre-booked wake-up call for our day of departure. It seems not all staff understand English well. Stayed one night a week prior and the room was very smoky smelling even though it was a non-smoking room. On the second stay, the room smelled fine though. There is no elevator for the 3 story complex. Spacious rooms. Nice outdoor pool though didn't have a chance to use it. Pleasant breakfast included. Hotel seems somewhat dated. Tub is small.

Close to town .

I was disappointed this time . No WIFI in rooms. Very expensive food but this is the same all over Vanuatu . Staff were lovely though. However, Vanuatu is too expensive now because of the cruises .

HOME AWAY FROM HOME

Pros: THE FRIENDLY STAFF. THE LOCATION. THE CLEANLINESS. GREAT CHOICE OF FOOD. BBQ NIGHT WAS GREAT. SOUTH PACIFIC TOURS RUN GREAT TOURS FROM THE LOBBY.
Cons: DON'T CHANGE A THING, EXCEPT MAYBE SOME LOW ALCOHOL BEER ON THE MENU.
Location: GREAT LOCATION, SHORT WALK TO TOWN AND SUPERMARKET. NATIONAL MUSEUM OF VANUATU 5 MINS WALK AWAY. CAR RENTAL PLACE NEAR SUPERMARKET.
A VERY COMFORTABLE HOTEL WITH FRIENDLY STAFF WHO ENJOY THEIR WORK. CLOSE TO TOWN BUT FAR ENOUGH TO BE A HAVEN. NEARBY SUPERMARKET WITH EVERYTHING. EASY ACCESS TO ALL FACILITIES. I BOOKED THE ROUND ISLAND TOUR WITH SOUTH PACIFIC TOURS WHO OPERATE IN THE LOBBY OF THE HOTEL. THEY ARE GREAT. CHEAPER THAN IN TOWN AND MOSES OUR GUIDE KNOWS EVERYTHING ABOUT THE ISLAND AND SEEMS TO KNOW EVERYONE ON THE ISLAND. A FANTASTIC DAY.
