Essentially a B&B/Hostel for familys in a rambling old Victorian house. It's clean & friendly with a friendly owner, in a fantastic location (right across the road from the Car ferry landing slip) There's a TV room (although most - if not all of their rooms have their own TV) and a pool table, in another room (keeps the kids entertained for an hour before they start beating each other with pool cues) A good hearty breakfast is served in the conservatory (great views out over the narrows to Strangford on the southern side of the lough)

Cheap place to lay our head.

We went on vacation with a budget and this location fit in nicely with the budget. But they say you get what you pay for. The place was full and very noisy. The bed was older so not comfortable at all. The manager was very pleasant but we needed to call when we arrived to check in and we couldn't find anyone to help us check out. There was a sign to place our keys in the drawer but no drawer was available. We had expected a quaint little town to be able to walk around and enjoy but it seems we were a few years too late for that. All in all we got want we paid for. It was a cheap place to lay our head.

    Good Budget Accommodation

The Hotel offers good basic accommodation. The breakfast was excellent. The Owners whilst not always on site were only a phone call away. Our room was clean and generally cosy. It would have benefited from better heating particularly in the morning and evening. A bedside light in addition to the main light in the room would have been beneficial. Parking was very good and free and we were right beside the ferry. Our only other issue was the exterior of the hotel requires a bit of a clean up by painting the exterior. Disabled access would be difficult due to the steps and one of the handrails was broken. However we did have a good time and would stay there again if we were going back to the area. WFI was a bit slow but usuable.

    Excellent stay in portaferry

Look this place is a budget stay, I booked online for a single room shared bathroom. I wasn’t expecting the ritz. It was less than £30. On arrival, a very pleasant man called Christopher, got an upgrade to an on suite room. Huge bathroom, bath and powerful shower. Bed was not soft and very comfortable. The place was silent, I asked for a late check out. Again no problem. 1pm. I went down for breakfast at 11, no issue with time. Fresh fruit and an excellent cooked breakfast with barista coffee. As for the town, there is a beautiful vibe around the place, lovely people. Highly recommend the fiddlers for your late night weekend entertainment and pints.
