Portales NM

Posted Nov 30, 2016
Pros: room spacious, clean amenities adequate. close to my place of work
Cons: again, the Direct TV cable programming was awful. Don't know if they have any other choices there
Location: I was there for business - the University and the hospital are right next to the hotel practically, 'downtown' is not far, the stadium is right across
Generally the Super 8 at Portales is more expensive than it is worth for the class of hotel but becasue the only other decent motel in town is a Holiday Inn which is very expensive, you are obliged to stay there. This class of hotel would be cheaper elsewhere. However it was clean and fine - no problem. It is in a rather isolated place and they use Direct TV - perhaps they have no other chose for cable but the choice of programs was atrocious

Excellent hotel and staff!

Posted Nov 10, 2016
Location: College and business district located less than 1 MI away. Plenty of restaurants close by.
Our room was neat and very clean! Spent 2 nights. Great direct TV and staff/room service was great. Also got room at great rate! Would recommend this hotel to anyone.

Smell

Posted Sep 12, 2016
The room reeked of cigarette smoke although it was supposed to be a non-smoking Hotel! However the staff were very friendly and helpful when the light in our bathroom blew out

Only two hotels in town, not much choice.

Room was a bit outdated, green walls with agave pictures in the headboard. Kinda odd. Bathroom had stuff on the walls other than paint.

Pros: The rooms were very clean, comfortable and quite attractive.
Cons: Policy concerning disruptive guests. A motel is no place for parties. They should b asked to leave immediately .Other PAYING guests need to sleep.
Location: Nothing in the area of interest, did find a nice restaurant recommended by the motel. We were just traveling thru.
Occupants in adjacent room ( we were in rm 111) were partying ,moving furniture, yelling etc until 5AM. Called frnt desk 2AM,was told it would b taken care of. It wasn't. Call again 4:30AM. Was told they were asked to b quite. They weren't. We r senior citizens traveling across country. Had just driven 10hrs.Left a complaint with front desk, manager was not there on weekends. Was told I should have called the police. Is that my responsibility? We slept 2 hrs then had to cont. driving. Were unable to drive , had to stop early and spend one extra night on the road at our expense. Manager finally called after several calls frm me. Offered 1/2 rm credit, $42. I accepted but felt we should not have been chrg at all. Motels only have one thing to offer, that is a room fit for sleeping so us travelers can continue on r way refreshed. The policy needs to b changed fr those people who are so disrespectful of those of us who need to sleep. Others complained that same night. Each yr we travel to r daughters in AZ, we often have stayed at Hampton Inns but found Supper 8 to be quite nice and have stayed at others but we never encountered this type of situation. I hope this was a 1 time deal as we will b traveling again and would like to have the option of a restful night at a Super 8.

Cons: Not going up on price during special occasions, like graduation.we have to stay in Clovis this time cause price on room went up for graduation
we have stayed here every time we traveled to Portales to watch my son play football at ENMU....only thing I hate is that they raise rate during special events that are going on in this town.....

Greetings Terry, Thank you kindly for staying with us, and for scoring us a four out of five. Unfortunately, big events create a supply and demand effect on our rate, and usually also have us sold out about a month or more in advance. On the bright side, we only have about four big events per year that fill us up. We look forward to seeing you again, and please have an enjoyable day. Jon GM

It was a fine hotel when you need a place to stay.

Posted Dec 5, 2015
Pros: It was clean, we had everything we needed.
Cons: It was noisy from the highway and train track. I'm sure there's nothing that can be done about that. Our TV should have worked properly.
Location: We wanted to try the Thai restaurant down the street--it seemed popular since the parking lot was full. We were not in town for "things to do."
Everything at the hotel was acceptable--there were a few things that didn't work properly if you were interested. Our TV was a joke, but we were not there to watch TV so it didn't make a lot of difference.

Should be called the smoke filled hotel!

Posted Jun 29, 2015
The receptionist that checked us in was rude. I requested a nonsmoking room (I had my 3 teenage children with me), which I was told that's what I got, but to get to the room we had to walk through a hall filled with smoke. The room itself didn't smell heavily of smoke but there was a lingering smoke smell to it and the towels all reeked of smoke. Also, the outlet in the bathroom was burnt out. If I had not already paid for the room through Expedia, we would have left! I would not recommend this hotel to any nonsmoking person or people with kids. This was by far the worst place I've ever stayed!!!!

Dear LaTanya First off I would like to apologize to you that you were treated rudely at check in. That bothers me so much and I will look into this and take further action. Yes, we do have 7 smoking rooms on the 2nd floor and you had to walk by them to get to your room. I am sorry. Thank you for letting me know about the broken outlet. It will be fixed right away. Thank you for sharing your experience and being honest.

Smells ripe

Posted Feb 10, 2015
Although the hotel is not responsible for the smell of the cows, they are responsible for the smell on the inside. The hallway smelled like sour water.
