Only complaint we had was the pool was so cold ! But overall the stay was excellent . I was impressed by the young man that checked us in was excellent . It is a luxury hotel ..
We absolutely loved the history and architecture of the hotel
The rooms where spacious, clean and luxurious. We cant wait till we make a return trip to Portland.
This might be the most beautiful hotel I have ever stayed in. I learned this is the oldest hotel in the Pacific Northwest. The architecture is amazing, the king suite was FABULOUS and the pool/hot tub were great! I highly recommend this hotel.
The shower gel was empty, the top of the shampoo dispenser was broken off so you could not use the shampoo, there was trash on the floor that had not been vacuumed after the prior guest, and the blanket said to be in the drawer underneath the TV was missing so we had to call the front desk and ask for one to be brought up. Not the usual 4-star hotel I am used to staying at.

This former gem of a hotel is being spoiled by the dirty and unsafe area that downtown Portland has become. The last time we visited was in Dec 2019 just before the pandemic and unfortunately the situation has completely reversed. A former bustling area busy with activity is now much less inhabited, with people in need of care and attention roaming the streets and doing drugs. It's unfortunate.

It is a nice property, just in a questionable location. It is an older building but the renovation makes it quaint. The morning breakfast was very enjoyable, however, the evening reception could have been a little more satisfying. Plus the music in the evening was overwhelming making it difficult to carry on a conversation.
This hotel is in close proximity to transport and attractions. It has an onsite restaurant and a cocktail hour. It was clean, well appointed and had good noise reduction. Although Portland has a large homeless population the area at the hotel entrance was clean and well kept. I would definitely stay here again.
We enjoyed our stay over Easter weekend 2023. Good value for the money in our 1 br suite, and the free breakfast and evening reception were both great! There is a lot of homelessness at the North end of downtown these days so walking in the area was a bit sketchy / dirty for sure, but that's obviously a larger problem and no fault of this hotel's. Would stay again all things considered.
The room was fine however when we checked in we were asked if we wanted housekeeping the following day…we did but the room was not cleaned. When we contacted the desk someone brought up towels; no refresh of coffee etc, no made bed. Also there was a loud party for over an hour of about 16 people on our floor which was never dealt with. The people were out inthe hall etc. Very inconsiderate.
Excellent place to stay in Portland. Great breakfast is included. A bit sketchy surroundings with a lot of homeless people. Staff is wonderful and very helpful.

Its a really cool building, the staff were nice, the restaurant inside the hotel was good. But...our room had wet and moldy tissues, tons of ants in the carpet, and food/mold in the pull out couch. There was water damage and mold in the bathroom. It felt unhealthy at best.

Was okay, not having toothbrushes and microwave, no water bottles, not well equipped.
Staff were friendly and accommodating. Breakfast was AMAZING! Hotel itself was a little rundown. We had a queen suite— which was really cool (two queen beds in a bedroom, plus a separate living room with a pull out bed and separate lounge chair). Area around the hotel was dirty and felt unsafe. Parking was expensive and the lot was dirty and a bit scary.
This location was great for easy access to the lite rail train system and central to a lot of great dining options. Unfortunately, this area of downtown Portland has a lot of challenges with the homeless population that can impact security and safety.
The property was nice, but just a few feet away there are a lot of homeless people. We won't be coming back to this area again.

Staff was wonderful and super helpful. Breakfast was great and beds were comfy. Parking was terrible and elevator broke during stay. Area around hotel was sketchy with lots of homeless people.
The facility was nice, employees were amazing but our room was dirty, the remote had food all dried up on it, the countertops in bedroom and living area were dirty, the foot stool was dirty, disappointing
The property is aging and I was unable to get our room until 5pm. I know check in was at 4 but it pinned me in the lobby where i could not be in the pool with my daughter.
Staff was friendly, Room was great, love the happy hour. Portland was messy, tons of homeless. Made us feel uncomfortable.
It was impressive didn't really feel like an embassy but more like a fancy pallace. With great hospitality. Staff went above and beyond to make your stay great.
