Pros: The staff was very helpful, Free parking and wifi
Cons: Would like coffee in room,
Location: Portland university and downtown, busses run close by
Compared to prices of downtown hotels we thought it was fine, might be dated a bit but staff was friendly, place clean and could easily walk everywhere.

Pleasantly SurprisedPosted Aug 25, 2015
Cons: It is across from the streetcar stop so noise is a fact of life.
Location: Some great restaurants within walking distance... and the Keller Auditorium is just a few blocks away. We never moved the car, just walked everywhere.
Based on the reviews we were fearing the worst but this downtown hotel was fine for what it is, a downtown motel that is less than half the price of all the other properties in the area. Location is great, staff was just fine, rooms clean and simple and parking tight. Try to get there at 3:00 to get a parking space.

Not the most luxurious hotelPosted Aug 20, 2015
Pros: It was downtown and quiet.
Cons: the parking was very difficult.
This was a last minute booking for a hotel that had two beds in the room because I was traveling with my son. It wasn't terrible but was pretty cheap.

Good for value, extremely convenient locationPosted Aug 10, 2015
Stayed at the Downtown Value Inn, Portland/PSU neighborhood for 3 nights. The room was acceptable. The reason I chose the hotel was price and location. When other rooms are renting for $300-450 a few MAX stops away, $135/night is a bargain. You get what you pay for. The DVI is RIGHT on yellow/green lines and a short walk or MAX ride to transfer to blue/red. Great hotel for someone who isn't going to be in the room much! The beds were comfortable and clean, but the general feel of the room didn't exactly instill confidence. There were a few stains on the wall, carpet obviously hadn't been replaced in a few years, the tub drain didn't drain well, bathroom sink was missing a stopper, maid sprayed a bunch of febreeze on her way out of each room, etc. The owners could spend just a bit more money and upgrade the value of their property significantly (replace carpet with easy to clean surface, replace old TVs with new ones, etc). My guess is that they stay fairly full and that's why upgrades aren't in progress. Great for students, travelers just stopping through, or attending a conference at the convention center on your own dime (about 10-15 mins by MAX from convention center). It is about 25-30 min MAX ride from the airport- very easy to get to/navigate. Overall, ok, but it would've been worth it to me personally to spend up to $60 more/night for a room that felt clean (traveling last minute and one wasn't available).

Great stayPosted Jul 26, 2015
The only thing I would critique is the bathroom lighting is to dim. But other than that everthing was great!

Mediocre property in great locationPosted Jul 24, 2015
We booked the place out of desperation -- decent price for Portland but poor rating. It turned out to be very tolerable. Small rooms facing street with light rail, but not nearly as bad as the rating would suggest - renovated bath, for example. Parking is limited but worked for us.

Cheap hotel in downtown PortlandPosted Jul 22, 2015
Pros: cheap walking distance from the waterfront, Ground Kontrol, Portland City Grill, etc.
Cons: The bathtub faucet was not touching the wall and sprayed water directly into the wall cavity. Decor was outdated and a little rundown.
Location: Close to: Ground Kontrol, waterfront, Portland City Grill, Voodoo Doughnuts, indoor mini golf
A cheap hotel in downtown Portland within walking distance of some fun places. It is a little out-dated and rundown, but it's cheaper than the other hotels nearby and it beats sleeping in your car or on the sidewalk.
