Nice hotel but not without cons

Posted Jul 18, 2016
Pros: Location, spacious rooms, swimming pools, friendly stuff at the hotel restaurant
Cons: Make check-in stuff and cleaning stuff more friendly.
Location: Portland Commercial street, Portland Casco Bay lines, Portland Head Light, Allagash Brewery free tour with beer tasting (must be 21 for beer tasting)
The hotel is nice with indoor and outdoor pools and inner garden. Rooms are not totally new but they are clean and spacious. The continental breakfast has quite poor choices but you can buy yourself a good breakfast for $5 or so. Only when you book the hotel with free continental breakfast you kind of expect it to be good and free. The one thing I personally didn't like was check-in. Our check-in lady almost finished our registration and was ready to give us a key. But another check-in lady changed our room right in front of us to accommodate a man she knew. The room we were supposed to get was close to the lobby. But it was given to the gentleman. We were switched to the room which was far away from the lobby. It was done without any apologies or explanations. I am in a wheelchair and even small distance may be a big challenge for me. My husband didn't want to make a scene about it but the whole situation was unpleasant to us. And check-in ladies seemed quite indifferent if we were happy or not.

Not super awesome.

Posted Jul 18, 2016
I wouldn't stay again. We had to slam our bodies into the door to get it open everytime. The bathroom light only worked half the time. There was a dirty washcloth in the shower when we arrived. The fan on the AC didn't work. The only thing the room had going on was that the beds were very comfortable.

Stopped on our way thru

Posted Jun 26, 2016
And ended up staying 2 nights. It was easy to get to everything we needed too, and they were all very friendly. It was a packed House and everyone was having fun. The complimentary breakfast was the normal hard boiled eggs, cereal but very good breads and rolls and the best part was Andre (sp?) who worked at Zacks. He was so much fun and such a good spirit. Loved the morning smile.

Not what expected

Posted Jan 4, 2016
I have stayed at a lot of the hotels in this area, and definitely do not feel that we got what we paid for or expected. The hotel staff was great and the food in the lounge was great. However, the room was not clean, the pool area was cold and had mold and algae growing on the walls. The hot tub was a spa tub in the exercise room and the water was murky and there was a ring of about three inches of scum all the way around the hot tub. We ended up leaving a day early and transferred hotels.

Nice hotel

I was only in town for one night. They have remodeled the lobby and entry way since my last stay and it is very nice. Comfortable and clean room.
