Looking at possible retirement creeping up on me in the future. Thinking of relocating to the Northeast or Pacific Northwest. Either way I need to be a within driving distance to the oceans. I simply have to be close to the water. If anyone has any suggestions, I would appreciate them. Don't have a problem with the cold in winter, as long as I don't have to drive to work everyday. A beautiful small town would be wonderful. Thanks. Tern. I want to thank someone who encouraged me to see the beauty in these wonderful birds. @ Charles Arcudi I know you have moved on to a new adventure. I don't expect to receive a reply. However, I hope you know you have opened my my eyes, that maybe I could take a picture and see the beauty. Thank You, Forever Grateful. A simple picture of a Tern. I have grown to greatly admire this creature. Its flying abilities took me by surprise. More on that in future posts. Casco Bay. Having a wonderful time on our little journey. Portland has many things to see and do. But this old guy takes it easy, while my wife runs around. Terns I took several pictures of these birds while in Portland. Watching them interact with each other is a learning experience for me. Everyday is a joy when I can take the time and just notice the beautiful wildlife. Terns. I was so enchanted with this area of the country I live in. My goal is to return next June. I plan to visit a island to get close up to the Puffins I visited this year. I found that I am quite fond of the birds around the oceans. This is a Tern. A beautiful creature. A Simple Time. As a small boy I was amazed by the fireflies, lighting the evening skies, the wonderful bees and butterflies on a bright summers day. And the wonderful chirping of crickets in the night. I am happy at a older age I can remember these moments and still see the beauty this world has to offer. Terns. Close your eyes, raise your head to a sunny sky. Just enjoy a beautiful day. I believe this is a female Eider Duck. Life is beautiful! Want to post a few pictures I have been reluctant to post today. I hope nobody minds. I will return to Maine next year. So much to see. Will try to take pictures of other things but this is my first passion. Terns Portland Head Lighthouse in Cape Elizabeth, Maine
Constructed and lit in 1791 but was automated in 1989. It is free to walk around the grounds but for a couple dollars, there is a small museum you can visit, as well as a gift shop. Poutine: Fries fried in duckfat with cheese curds, gravy and an over easy egg. The local brews, sandwiches and duckfat carmel milkshake were all great as well, but this was the star of the night. Loved the little city of Portland, Maine and if you're a fish lover you'll like it even more! This is the lobster stew from Eventide Oyster Co. Wasn't exactly my favorite but I'm not a huge fan of seafood. However, the potato salad was the best I've ever had and I would go back solely for that reason! The Western promenade is the only decent one I found to catch the sunset Tea house where you can order off the menu or have the proprietess create a custom tea blend for what ails you. A funky, friendly shop. Be prepared to wait a while for your order - this ain't no Starbucks! Loved the food. Also loved the chili pepper lights that line the ceiling. Downtown Portland has tons of character and history on every street!

Portland, Maine - 'Post Mad Bills' #NewEngland2017 One afternoon while on vacation my son & I went for a walk to explore Portland, Maine and ran into East End Cupcakes from CUPCAKE WARS. Loving sweets we looked over at each other, smiled, nodded our heads, and walked right in. My son got a vanilla cupcake and I got the push-up with 3 different flavor bite size. They were flavorful and moist. Would love to go back ...

Shipyard Brewery, based in Portland, produces the best Pumpkin Beer in the world, and also lots of other delicious beers. The brewery tour involves a video about their history, a visit to the bottling line, and then free samples at the bar!
