Nice hotel within walking distance to downtown

The hotel is currently under renovations. Our window was covered in plastic so we didn't have a view. But it was still a nice stay and our room was cozy

Hotel is undergoing a complete renovation. A bit challenging to access, parking is somewhat limited and the breakfast area is two adjoining rooms on the first floor but staff is wonderful and the rooms that have been completed are a big improvement. Once the work is completed after the holidays this la Quinta should be quite nice

Cons: Breakfast food was very average. A better variety with healthier options (multigrain bread, more fruit) would be beneficial.
Hotel was under renovations which is fine. But we had a hole in our wall which was letting cold air in. The hotel staff gave us a new room right away. Great service! Breakfast food was very average.

Pros: comfortable beds
Although the hotel is being renovated we had a very quiet , comfortable room, we appreciated the later check out at noon, and the breakfast was good with hot waffles available.

Renovations

Pros: The location. The staff and the continental breakfast.
Cons: 1. Inform your guests about your renovations on your website 2. Have your contractors start working no earlier than 9 am during renovations.
The hotel was nice. The room was great. However, they neglected to inform customers that the hotel is doing extensive renovations. Nowhere on the La Quinta website for the Portland location indicated that their were renovations. We did not realize that until after we got there and of course, it's too late to cancel reservations. I understand that the hotel needs renovations, but at the same time, La Quinta needs to take into consideration their guests need sleep. I would suggest La Quinta should have requested from their contractors not to start before 9 am. I was awakened at 7 am to an excavator and a jack hammer. I was not impressed with that wake up call.

Horrible corporate culture

Under total construction. Looks like it is in a war zone. No warning. Jack hammers every morning at 8:00. All day. Hideous Liobby. Entrance. Seems unsafe and very scary. I want my $$ back and then think they should pay ME for staying there

Construction but Nice

Pros: The friendly staff, the breakfast and the location
Location: Close to downtown and lots of restaurants.
When we arrived we were surprised to see that the building was under "heavy" construction. We were a bit uneasy... that is, until we walked in. As soon as we entered, the staff greeted us and calmed our fears over the construction. They let us know that the construction on the inside had already been taken care of, the construction crews don't arrive until 9am in the morning, AND they were giving away ear plugs to all customers who would like them regardless. The inside of the hotel looked wonderful, the rooms looked high quality, the breakfast had your standard continental options but the quality of the food was outstanding. Overall, we used the hotel as a place to sleep and spent the days exploring Portland. The construction didn't bother us at all, and we are excited to go back and see what the place looks like finished. They also had a list of local places to eat which was a HUGE help for people like us who are from out of state. We actually ate some of our favorite food (ever) based off one of their recommendations. We will definitely be a repeat customer based solely on the fact that they eased our fears so quickly, it was close to downtown and everything we wanted to do, and it was really pretty for the price!

Great Stay!

Pros: Nice rooms Friendly staff $5 cab ride to down town free breakfast
Cons: It will be even better once the renovations are done
Location: If you're there on a Saturday morning you can walk to the farmers market at Deering Oak Park.
This hotel was a good reasonably priced option for Portland. The rooms were nice, comfortable and clean - and the staff were friendly and helpful. The hotel exteriors were being renovated so you had to enter through the back which was a little confusing but not a big deal. It's a bit too far to walk to the downtown area but it's a $5 lyft or uber ride. Also, if you're there on a Saturday morning you can walk to the farmers market at Deering Oak Park.

Although Hotel is remodelled, guest Floor is Not affected. Clean room, comfy bed, Nice staff, good complimentary breakfast.
