old but good especially for those on a budget

Posted Aug 29, 2015
Pros: Clean premises, good bedding, air conditioning a bit noisy because of the age, but to be expected. Very good staff, friendly and knowledge
Cons: newer air/heating units that are not so noisy.
Location: Walking distance to Overlook Park and Mississippi Street's great restaurants and Farmers Market. The MAX line takes you all through Portland.
We stayed for three nights. A fifties' style motel newly painted with new beds just put in throughout -- we watched the old ones hauled away. Quiet even though motel is near freeway and right on the MAX line.

Good location

Posted Jul 5, 2015
The room was well cleaned but I felt the building was old. Near to max station. I found some ants walking on the bed and the desk. The front staff was friendly and kind.

transit to downtown is fantastic

Posted Jun 23, 2015
It's close to and really convenient to transit, and the transit is really good. The old ,rusty, gold ,full size fridge really put my wife off. but boy, it held a lot. For breakfast walk 30 meters north to Fairness go east, there is a pedestrian bridge over the I5 walk 2 blocks more to Mississippi and a great foodie street.

Palms Motel

The place is a little run down on the outside and first impression is a little disappointing but the rooms are clean and quite nice. I would stay there again. walking distance to restaurants and a corner store. The manager was very nice.

Convenient to Convention Center and Clean

Posted Apr 3, 2015
I stayed for 3 nights while attending a conference at the convention center. I found the hotel very clean, very quiet and right on the yellow Tri-Met rail line. These things are very important to a traveler. The hotel look run down on the outside but it has been updated within the past 5 or so years. The furnishings weren't luxurious but they were fine for the budget traveler. The staff was helpful in directing me to a place for lunch. The only drawback is that the hotel is about 6 blocks from a breakfast place and the management didn't leave information in the room directing travelers there. Other than that it was great!

Old Hotel

Posted Feb 17, 2015
Pros: The beds were comfortable.
Cons: The bathrooms need to be updated.
Location: It was close to our destination but in a not so great part of town.
Bathroom did not have a fan so it stayed wet all night long. What they called a tub was not even big enough for a child. We found a wasp in the room. The beds were pretty comfortable and it was as clean as it could be I suppose.
