Beautiful views of the river

Posted Aug 29, 2015
My daughter and I did a short mother /daughter 2 day trip to Portland. We accidentally booked the wrong Red Lion Hotel site. It was not as close to where we wanted to be. In the long run the hotel and it's amenities (beautiful pool) made our stay special. We will be booking at this hotel again.

Wonderful hotel

Posted Aug 27, 2015
This is a lovely place! Management clearly cares about the property and goes the extra mile to make it nice for guests (bath towels folded like seashells, etc). The room was very clean and comfortable with a nice view of the river and bridge.

Location is very convenient.

We enjoy staying at the Red Lion at Jantzen Beach every year. This time though I didn't care for our room #103. There was no balcony. Seemed like we were underground

Great riverfront hotel

Posted Aug 25, 2015
Pros: Staff, walks and shuttle
Cons: The coffee shop was great but closing at 10 was a little restrictive.
Location: Lots of shopping in close proximity and a short shuttle ride to the fantastic light rail of the max line.
The staff were extremely helpful and very accommodating. Loved the free shuttle to the max line. Great walks along the paths from the hotel.

Loved it here

Posted Aug 22, 2015
Pros: Everything!!
Location: Great location with lots of stores and restaurants close by and easy access to the freeway. It's also right on the river with a lovely walking path.
We booked to stay on 2 separate occasions during the same week in August. The pictures on the website of the rooms and the amenities were very nice. We love staying at places that offer balconies and we have a dog so it has to be dog friendly. The first time we stayed our room had a balcony but not really much of a view. The second time we stayed we were able to get a room with a view of the pool and the river and it was lovely! Both times our rooms were very nice and comfortable. The hotel itself is a large complex but there was lots of parking and we never felt overwhelmed by how busy that the hotel was. It was in a great location close to shopping and restaurants and to the freeway. We enjoyed the Portland area very much and ended up going to the coast which was fabulous! Hopefully we can do this trip again and we would definitely stay at the Red Lion!

Great View of the Freeway/Dumpsters

Posted Aug 18, 2015
Pros: Restaurant was okay but pricey
Cons: put up some kind of wall to silence the constant freeway noise
Location: location was right off the freeway......... next question!!!!!!!!!!!!
I guess they get away with saying you have a river view because if you look through all the dumpsters and under the bridge you can almost see a little of the river. Very awful and loud with traffic ALL night long.

Babs, I appreciate you taking the time to give us some feedback, The hotel is currently doing some upgrades and renovations and unfortunately we have a couple of debris dumpsters and storage containers in the parking lot, We hope to have the renovation complete soon and I hope you will return to see some of the exciting changes we are making also the next time you are making you reservation you have the option of booking a standard room or a view room and possible the view room will better fit your needs. I appreciate your business. Rod Russell, General Manager

Close to beach, nice views.

Hotel is going under renovations. Beds are uncomfortable. Even though it was a non-smoking room, it smelled like smoke.

Conveniently located next to the highway 5.

Can be noisy due to traffic and closeness to airport. Better rooms are on river side.

Very nice view of the river

Posted Aug 16, 2015
This hotel was clean, room was comfortable. We only stayed for one night, had dinner at the restaurant, food was great, service was not, we sat outside, and we felt very neglected, our food finally came and it took another fifteen minutes to get silverware and napkins, we had to ask someone twice. If it hadn't been for the service at dinner I would have given this 5 stars.

Definitely coming back!

Posted Aug 16, 2015
Pros: The grounds, fitness center, staff friendliness.
Cons: Charger plug-ins on the bedside table would be nice.
Location: Didn't get to stay that long, but it was conveniently located, nice area, and better priced than the hotels by the airport.
Arrived late, slept in. Enjoyed a great view in a quiet, spacious room. Great location right on the river, next to the bridge crossing over into Washington. The grounds are generous. Tennis courts and pool are in a beautiful setting overlooking the river. I was really impressed with the fitness center. It is well appointed and spacious. I was disappointed because we were only staying one night. Next time we're in Portland, this will be our first choice.
