lovely hotel in great locationPosted Aug 26, 2015
Pros: Very nice decor in the rooms and public areas. Very handy having a Starbucks downstairs. Convenient to public transportation.
Cons: 1" square soap is not adequate for two adults, and it wasn't even replaced!
Location: Heart of downtown- easy to get to everything by tram.
Everyone in Portland is congenitally friendly and helpful, including the hotel staff. Our room was nice size- not large, but not pinched. It was quiet until two weddings on Saturday night- then the throbbing dance music could be heard on the 5th floor. Otherwise and very nice experience overall. Restaurant (Jake's) food was very good. Starbucks served wine and small plates in the evening- a nice treat. Easy to take the red line (tram) to the airport for only $2.50 per person.

Fabulous hotel in the middle of everything!Posted Aug 25, 2015
We will definitely stay here again when we go back to Portland. Everything is close and walking distance. The train to the airport is only one block away. The food trucks are across the street. (Visit the crepe lady!) The staff was awesome! The only thing about the hotel bar was the line to get in on Friday and Saturday night - too long for us to stand in! The bed was super comfortable too!

The room was great and perfect location. Larger bed would be nice! But other than that...perfect!

Lovely place to stay in PortlandPosted Aug 18, 2015
great location for easy walking to downtown sights, shopping and dining. Very friendly and accommodating staff. Beautiful older building but wonderfully and tastefully updated. Very comfortable bed. My room faced the street so had a little noise, but the noise was not loud and I did not find it problematic.

Nice locationPosted Jul 21, 2015
Pros: Location. 5 min walking to Pioneer Square. Close to restaurants. Safe location at night. Nice staff.
Cons: I could hear noise from other rooms. But people were quiet enough so it was not a problem.
Travelling for a couple of days. The room was clean. The hotel has a starbucks and a restaurant, but I can't tell about it. You can use the MAX red line to arrive to the hotel. Very convenient location.

Lovely building, nice staffPosted Jul 17, 2015
Pros: Good style, location convenient to the Pearl, friendly hipster staff, comfortable room
Cons: Our view wasn't great, and I was misdirected about where to see the 4th of July fireworks, but overall it was very good.
Location: Close to the Pearl, Powell's books, a great vegan cafe, Prasad (with yoga, too), and a Stumptown coffee shop, all important to traveling New Yorkers
Smooth operation: really liked the large B&W photos of 'sentinels' in the hallways: ours had Dr King, Harvey Milk, George Washington Carver and Mother Teresa. Comfortable lobby, friendly door people, although the bar area is very loud at night (in case you wanted to read in one of the plush green chairs. Liked the ways the architectural features were highlighted (amazing lobby ceiling) but also updated

Great location in downtown PortlandPosted Jul 13, 2015
Pros: The rooms are very individualized - no cookie cutter decor here. The food at Jake's Grill was great. The hotel is one block from a trail stop.
Cons: While we were there, the bar off the lobby got excessively crowded and noisy - well, loud. No stopping there for a quiet drink in the evening!
Location: Food carts are across the street, if that appeals. A Target is also directly across the street. The Pearl District is an easy 3-4 block walk.
My husband and I stayed for six nights at the Sentinel Hotel this July. We chose the location based on its proximity to downtown and easy access (relatively, for Portland) to leave downtown. Initially, other considerations took second place. However, once we checked in and settled in, we found that the Sentinel offered so much more than just a good place to act as our hub. A good restaurant, a Starbucks off the lobby, great hotel personnel and attractive decor made the stay truly memorable. We would absolutely stay there again, if we're lucky enough to return to Portland.
