Wonderful location, ambiance, service and comfort.

Pros: Great location and very comfortable for our 5 nights.
Cons: Portland definitely has a homeless problem that is very disturbing.
Location: Powell Book Store is amazing. A unique an pleasurable drink at the Whiskey Library. Fun dinning and nightlife within a few blocks. Starbucks there.
The building was originally a BPOE Elk lodge and it has beautiful architectural features. Check out the ceiling in the lobby. The location was proximate to great dinning, the food truck block, Powell Book Store, Breweries and more. Walk or Uber ride to 23rd street, Rose Garden, Japanese Garden, and river. Double bed room was vary spacious, well designed, comfortable with seating and a sizable work table.

Just perfect

Pros: Very professional and kind staff above anything, and the very clean fresh rooms.
Cons: Nothing, even the ices are already packed in the plastic bags for you.
Location: Center of all in downtown Portland.
I stayed in Sentinel during a road trip to Whistler from San Francisco. Simply, if you choose to stay here there is nothing you need to worry about because everything is just flawless. On the way back to San Francisco I chose to stay at Sentinel again without searching for another place.

Exceeded expectations. Will stay here again.

Pros: Great location, nicely decorated room, helpful staff.
Cons: No improvements need, as far as I'm concerned.
Location: Do not miss a visit to Powell's Bookstore, one of America's truly great independent booksellers.
Stayed here for a very short visit to Portland with plans to visit Powell's Bookstore and Jake's Crawfish, and this hotel was within easy walking distance to both. For other local destinations, the Portland streetcar stops right at the front door. The Sentinel was created by an imaginative and thorough adaptation of the former Elks' Club building. Room décor was exceptionally nice, staff was exceptionally helpful. The Jake's Grill steakhouse on the ground floor functions as its restaurant although independent from the hotel, and I had a good breakfast there. Stylish bar off the hotel lobby. Will definitely stay here again.
