Liebevoll restaurierte Pousada am Douro

Posted Sep 19, 2016

Great hotel in Porto with superb service

Posted Sep 14, 2016
Pros: Everything from the location, grounds, service and accommodations.
Started our first Portugal trip with a stay at this fine hotel located in Porto - close to the action but far enough away to enjoy avoid the crowds of the tourist district. You can easily reach the tourist attractions via a nice walk, an inexpensive cab or the local trolleys. Located right on the Douro River, this grand hotel left nothing to be desired with first class rooms and top shelf service. From check-in to check-out the staff was professional and courteous. The pool sits right on the river front providing spectacular views, with a bar and food service right there to ensure you can enjoy your leisure time. The rooms were well appointed and we were treated to an upgrade to a suite, which was a nice surprise. The breakfast buffet was located in the historic mansion (visually spectacular) and included in the standard rate - and what a treat it was - don't miss it - from the champagne to the pastry "closet". If high quality at a reasonable price is desired then this hotel is a winner.

Palatial stay in Porto

Posted Sep 8, 2016
Cons: The location is a little out of the way, but they do provide a shuttle bus service to town.
Superb stay in an excellent and relaxing hotel. The room was spacious and clean, and the breakfast selection was fantastic.

Superb stay in perfect surroundings near Porto.

Posted Aug 11, 2016
Pros: Everything. The staff, the restoration and layout of the hotel. The pool and terrace, the gardens, the view, the breakfasts, very reasonably priced.
Cons: Nothing
Location: Easy ride into the old town, either with the hotel shuttle or inexpensive taxi. Porto is full of history, restaurants and charm.
From the moment we were greeted by enthusiastic staff, through the polite and poised check in and a tour of this beautiful hotel, we knew we were in for a delightful stay. The hotel has been beautifully restored with stunning rooms and gardens. The staff were unfailingly polite and the pool and terrace were from a storybook.

Beautiful hotel

Very beautiful hotel, great staff. Unfortunately too far from everything. Hotel should provide more shuttle bus service into the city main centres.

Lovely hotel, pool, breakfast and staff.

Posted Aug 7, 2016
Pros: Loved the palace hotel, decor, gardens, breakfast and pool
Cons: The design connecting the palace to the new portion of the hotel. Very inefficient to get to the new part of the hotel from the palace.
Location: We had to take a taxi from our hotel to the city where all the restaurants, wineries, and entertainment took place. There are many things to do.
Had trouble winding ourselves through the palace part and new part of the hotel to find our room. Did not like the bathroom. Shower/bath too small - very confining.

Dear Guest, Thank you very for your comments; it is a great pleasure to know that you had a comfortable stay. The fact that we are composed by two buildings, a XVIII century Palace and a XIX century former mill, both part of the Portuguese Heritage, makes us very singular. We try to make the passage between the two buildings as easy as possible, and we are always at your entire disposal to help. We wish you a great day! Warmest regards, Paula Coutinho
