Simple and excellent

Posted Sep 22, 2017
We were visiting Vassar College and stayed here. The staff was lovely, the room was spacious and clean and comfortable. The little gym was nicely equipped. The location is very convenient for Vassar College. The price was fine. We found the Red Roof Inn Plus to be a great value and lovely; would gladly stay here again.

Just alright.

Posted Sep 10, 2017
First time at a Red Roof Inn Plus. We usually stay at Fairfield's (which is right next door and share the same parking lot) when possible. Check in went well. The room's decor was done well with tiled and wood floors with carpeting around the beds. The bathroom was also nice. Tiled floor. But the above vanity vessel sink seemed kind of awkward in usage. For the most part the room was clean. There was some water in the grout lines in the bathroom. Not sure where that came from. Two of the pillow cases were stained. The mattress, I believed, needed replacement. Have you ever slept on a mattress that rolled you to the middle? After having one experience with bed bugs, checks are now mandatory before we even unpack. None found but beds need to be pulled out and the floor vacuumed. Phone was old, kind of dirty and message light wouldn't stop blinking, that is until I pulled the cord. Biggest downfall of the room was the microwave. Absolutely disgusting! Inside, caked on food, with some appearing moldy. Luckily we had no plans of using it. However, if you, as a guest see something like this, it brings into question everything else. The Continental breakfast was the usual outdated offering. A couple of dry cereals, some juice, toast, coffee. That's fine for a " budget" hotel. But the price offering for this hotel rivaled some of my stays at Fairfield with their offering of waffles, scrambled eggs, hot oatmeal w/ toppings, fresh cut fruit, sausage, hard boiled eggs, pastries and more

One major negative at hotel

Posted Aug 30, 2017
Hotel was in a very convenient location. There are many stores and food options close by. There is even a mall a few minutes away. I thought this hotel looked great and was priced very reasonably for the area it was in. We had no complaints at all until about 11:00pm. Our room was on the 1st floor. We were able to hear every step that the people above us on the 2nd floor made. And to top it off, they had a child. So on top of steps we heard continuous running for hours and hours! Eventually when they decided to go to sleep we were able to fall asleep. If you stay here make sure YOU request a 2nd floor room so you're not on the same sleep schedule as the people above you.

Older but Nice

Posted Aug 28, 2017
Stayed here when sending my daughter off to college & it was nice. The price, the staff, room & cleanliness of the room. The rooms were upgraded, now all they have to do is replace the main carpet, hallway & bannister which was broken. Nothing extra here; gardens, pool, bar or restaurant but it was totally with the price.

Dear Anonymous, Thank you for your honest review and for staying with us. Although we are indeed a no frills economy hotel, cleanliness is one of our top priorities, and our staff works extremely hard to insure this. Thanks again and hope to see you the next time you are in town visiting your daughter!

Surprisingly contemporary

Posted Aug 3, 2017
Pros: Since Red Roof Inns have been around since I was a child, I expected something a little older and dated, but the room was very modern and stylish.
Cons: The modern sink in the bathroom was a little high for shorter people, and rooms with 2 queen beds should be stocked with enough towels for 4 people.
Location: Convenient to downtown Poughkeepsie, Vassar College, the Hudson walking bridge, and stores and restaurants
We got in quite late and were exhausted, in the process of helping my son move. The person who checked us in was very sympathetic and changed us to a room on the first floor rather than second as reserved because we were too tired to even think of going upstairs. Breakfast was continental style but offered a decent selection of foods. A good value for the price and located in a very convenient spot with ample parking and close to restaurants and highways.

Dear Anonymous, Thank you so much for choosing the Red Roof Plus Poughkeepsie, and for the kind review. Red Roof is constantly making improvements to all of their properties; you will find most inns are completely remodeled and modern. I am glad you enjoyed our complimentary continental breakfast and hope you visit us again the next time you are in town.

Nice place to Sleep

Posted May 27, 2017
Pros: Location
Cons: Noise level
Location: Red Lobster, close shopping.
Nice place, nice staff, well informed. Coffee is not that good, stayed on first floor and had very noisy people over us. Overall OK.
