Good hotel.

Nice hotel. Beautiful location. Decor is a little tired. In the room and the rest of the hotel. Could be amazing if it was given some care and attention. Service is also good, if a little old fashioned.

Great hotel - Excellent food.

Pros: The extremely warm welcome. The old world feel of the building and fabulous grounds. The fabulous food.
Stayed one night when the hotel was full. The staff were very welcoming and helpful (although one female member of the management was rather brusque and took staff away from the task of serving guests at a very busy time). We had a lovely stay and will certainly return.

Charming but not for business stay

Posted Feb 22, 2016 on Hotels
Hotel itself is old but lovely in beautiful surroundings. The staff are courteous but when busy they are very undestaffed. Waited ages to be served. Wifi is non existent really. Would not recommend as a stay if you're on business, but good for relaxing.

The hotel was very pleasant. The staff was so nice and helpful too. It's a nice place to go if you want to wind down and get away from the city. Very quiet and beautiful area. Next to a river

Stayed there for a dog show at the Royal Agricultural showground and as I was only there for 12 hours I didn't test the facilities or have dinner. The room was comfortable and quiet, although for £138 there was only a shower (no bath) and the view was the bin and storage area. Staff were cheerful and helpful. The hotel had a 1970s feel to it - think Alex Polizzi would have had plenty to say about decor and ambiance! To sum up: adequate but over-priced.
