Old yet good hotel, in a good location.

Posted Nov 30, 2012
When I got to the hotel, the person who was at the reception didn't know much english. Since my company had some issue with the payment, he wasn't able to explain it to me. So he told me to wait ten minutes for the english speaking receptionist. We asked them to take my card as security until my company fixes the issue but they didn't approve. So I left my luggage at the storage room and went to travel. A. The hotel is very close (5 min walk) from a Metro station. B. there are some fast food restaurants close by. C. they have internet both loby and at the rooms. - Nice. D. The hotel and rooms looks and feels antique. Yet there is a big screen TV and internet as I said. E. My room was huge. (my partner got a smaller one) F. Breakfast is somewhat small in selection but was quite good overall.

Pros: quiet
Cons: bad odor in the bathroom
Location: close proximity to many embassies and consulates
The bathroom did not have proper, if any, ventilation and had a very bad odor.

Soviet chique

Posted Nov 2, 2012
Pros: The decor, atmosphere etc.
Cons: Wifi connection was terrible.
Location: In the ambassy disctrict, not much going on around there, shops etc. are quite far.
It's a bit Soviet chique. As long as you don't expect to get a typical western hotel experience I would recommend it. Everything is very decent, and it has a luxuruous air, which I think for that money is hard to find in an expensive city like Moscow. The breakfast was very Russian, with warm stuff as well as some quite tasty pastry. Also there, as long as you don't expect your typical western breakfast selection, you will be off quite well here.
