Not our best Hampton experience
Posted Oct 4, 2016
We have stayed at many Hampton Inns over the years and have never been disappointed. Overall, this was okay but not the best. After an awful experience with bed bugs at a beautiful B & B in California 10 years ago, we have an immediate routine upon entering any hotel or inn where we closely examine the beds and furniture. While we certainly did not find any bugs, we did notice that one of the mattresses had a huge dry stain on it which was off-putting and raises the question of overall cleanliness and attention to detail which we have come to expect from Hampton. Since we were a late arrival around 11 pm, we didn't complain and used a towel under the sheet to provide another layer of separation. Fortunately there was no smell. We did forget to mention it to front desk staff the next morning and plan to do so ASAP. After we settled in to get to sleep, there was a loud roaring noise above us that sounded like a HVAC unit. We spoke to a young woman at the front desk who did not seem to know the source & told us the hotel was full and, although we did not ask to move, we would not be able to change rooms. Fortunately, the noise eventually stopped after about a half hour. We were on the top(third) floor. Not sure if the noise could be heard just above ours and adjacent rooms or was heard floor wide. If necessary, would probably stay again but with so many other choices nearby, would likely try another chain.
