Don't be cheap, just stay at the resort.

Posted Apr 14, 2014
Pros: Cheap. Close to Airport. Allowed us to cancel our second night we had scheduled to stay before our flight out.
Cons: External drain for condensation in AC. Proper shower knob correctly attached so you don't have to take cold showers.
Location: There is NOTHING near by. If you don't have a car, you're up a creek. No food. Nothing.
Flew from west coast. Rather than take a red eye, we thought we'd arrive at 10:00 pm, get a cheap hotel for the night and hit the resort bright and early. We were the LAST ones in the airport. It was dark outside, there was barbed wire fencing all around with empty guard towers. It reminded me of a war zone. There were two people in unmarked cars offering to take us to our hotel, but the last attendant swore he wouldn't leave us and kept calling for the hotel "shuttle" which finally showed up. The three minute ride to the hotel was unnerving. Destroyed concrete foundations, no lights, the few buildings that were standing all had bars on the doors and windows. The lobby was nice and check in easy. I wasn't sure why there were four huge men standing in the lobby. They seemed like security which made me nervous. There were no restaurants or other food options and even if there were, I wouldn't have felt safe walking outside, so we all went to bed hungry. The amenities were what I would expect for a $35 / night hotel in the US which probably translates to $135 in the Caribbean. We awoke at 6 am to a whorable racket. The AC had formed condensation all night and dripped into my wife's suitcase and finally formed so much ice inside I thought the machine was going to fly into pieces. We had to take cold showers because the hex screw wasn't secure (or even made for that type knob) and so wouldn't turn to adjust the temp. We happily paid the shuttle $40 to get to resort

Minimal hotel near the Airport

Posted Feb 24, 2014
Pros: very nice staff; convenient to the airport. price is lower than most, but value should be evaluated.
Location: Not much nearby (restaurants, beaches, etc), but convenient to the airport for arrival and departure. Car rental across the street. Did not eat at t
No hot water; lavatory sink did not drain. minimal room outfit, but a place to sleep and change clothes. I would recommend this hotel, but only with some clear description and explanation.

Adequate for what it is

Posted Feb 23, 2014
Pros: Location
Cons: Refurbish hotel. Encourage staff to be more attentive. Less visiting with their friends and more attendance on the customers.
Location: 6 minute walk to/from the airport
We were well prepared for our experience and found it to be as previous reviewers said. A 6 minute walk from the airport, clean and spacious rooms, lowest price on the island. The building and furnishings need updating and the staff is lackadaisical, and not in a charming island-time sort of way. Construction of a new casino going in was quite loud and may bother some. But it was perfectly adequate for a single overnight before our morning flight out.

Close to the airport is all this place has going

When we checked in they were doing construction until 10 at night. Jack hammering cement. No care for their customers.

OK hotel near airport

Posted Jan 14, 2014
Pros: Free shuttle to/from airport and Grace Bay Beach.
Cons: overall maintenance of rooms
Location: near airport with limited places to eat nearby
The rooms are ok. What you would expect for an inexpensive place to stay on Provo. The hotel has free shuttle to/from airport and Grace Bay Beach. Because taxis cost $16.50 per person one way to the beach that is a significant savings. Staff was friendly and helpful. Unfortunately there are not many good places to eat within walking distance.

Best Thru-TCI Hotel

Posted Jan 10, 2014 on Hotels
If you are doing an over-nite in TCI headed elsewhere, this is a great deal. Not a hotel you would make a destination, but you can actually walk here from the TCI International Terminal and avoid the taxi madness. No pool, no breakfast but a solid deal at 125/nite and friendly staff who will find you a beer and some beans and rice in less than 300 yards. I will be back.

don't stay here

Posted Dec 26, 2013 on Hotels
I got there on a Sunday so the restaurant was closed. There is nothing in walking distance to see, do, or eat. No hot water when I arrived.I think it was hot at 6 the next morning, but I waited until 9am to shower, and I couldn't d/t no water that was even warm. Phone line was down when I got there, so I couldn't pay for my room. Still down in the morning, ordered breakfast before I realized I couldn't pay for that either. Someone from the hotel drove me to the airport atm so I could pay my bills. Waited atleast half an hour for cab to get me out of there.
