I can’t believe this resort doesn’t serve coffee at 6:00am,I wake up early for a nice walk in the beach and drink a hot cup of coffee but in this resort it amazes me but we had to wait till 7am to have a cup of coffee.....Also the pool was dirty that we stop using the pool....The food was the same almost every day....It’s definitely a 3 star resort.....

Super nice Hotel with excellent food!!!! Beautiful complex and area! Ocean is warm and pools even warmer. Very friendly staff and the FOOD is really, really good! We had a great time. It feels like paradise!!!!!! The only little negative point is, it can be loud with the evening program running until 11pm especially on the weekend.

Defiantly the worst hotel I have ever seen

I never do reviews but this hotel will be my first. So the ac didn’t work the toliet kept flushing and there was all type of bugs in my room and on top of that the hotel had no night entertainment. Half of the lamps actually turned on and the service people would walk past my room and all types of time making so much noise. I had an ocean view suite you would expect it to be the nicer ones well it was small and it smelled. Never coming here again

Carlos at front desk was great! Room was nice and clean. Nice beach and pool area but area between lobby and buildings on right could use some renovation (get rid of chain link fence). Once past that everything looks nice. Would definitely stay there again.

Such a good surprise !!

Resort Lovers of this beautiful island, it was our second meeting with a resort in Puerto Plata. This time, we had decided to stay in a hotel where the beach was large with accessible infrastructures for the family, unlike one resort we know and which is near of Ocean World .... What a great surprise of the Grand pPradise .... From the good attention of the front desk during the check in, to the bartenders, the safety of the beach and the maids, everything was a very pleasant surprise. The beach is the most incredible in the area since the hotel has 2 sides for just himself. The rooms are very comfortable .. (Note: from being a family of 4 they put us in a suite) and the food was also a good surprise especially when you eat at every moment of the day in front of the beach. For all of that, we recommend to everybody woh wnat to visit Playa Dorada, to check this Resort because of the price quality ratio, we will assure you that they will write the same comment as me ...

Cockroaches

Dissapointing really. We didn't open the balcony and still had an adult cockroach in the bathroom. When I informed the front desk manager he apologized and said it was unacceptable and that sometimes guests do not want the room fumigated! This is unacceptable as being in the hospitality industry I know room turnover and there is no reason a room could not be fumigated. Around the toilet mirror there was all toilet paper which I can only assume was from maintenance. Unacceptable especially when you are paying $200 USD a night.

Good vacation stay for the price

Pros: The food was above expectations and showed local cuisine. Fried chicken was also phenomenal. The beach area was also better than other areas
Cons: Add more food/snack options during the day and maybe another fancy dining option. update the kitchen areas of room. More shade areas on beach
Location: The tours/Puerto Plata were so worth it. We did the city tour and ATV trip. Wow! We also took our own taxi to the city center to d a cigar factory
We wanted a week away to relax, enjoy local culture, and get some beach time. While this hotel is not a classy resort, it still offered a wonderful week to forget about life. The staff was excellent and the food was surprisingly delicious. The bar drinks were great as well. Entertainment staff were fun and engaging though the entertainment was of a local quality and not like other shows at fancier resorts. This is a family friendly resort so if you want to avoid kids running around, this is not for you. The beach area was BEAUTIFUL with easy access and we did not have to walk forever to get around the resort. The room was comfortable but not clean enough for my standards. We did enjoy having a balcony and the bed was very nice for sleeping. TV was a mix of local and US channels. The typical crowd is from Canada and local countries so all shows and tours are translated into Spanish and French which was cool but took up extra time. Overall, this was a great stay and I might bring my family back here next time, but I would prefer to try some fancier places.
