Poor condition but great location

Posted Feb 7, 2016
Pros: Location was great. Courtyard was pleasant but in need of a little care.
Cons: Rooms could be gutted and renovated.
Location: Great walk up and down Ashford. Pinky's restaurant just a few blocks away is a great place for breakfast, salads, sandwiches, etc., best coffee!
Hotel staff were very pleasant and helpful. Common area, courtyard, was pleasant but needed some upkeep and cleaning. Breakfast was coffee, oj, white toast and cereal boxes. It filled the void but that's about it. The room was the smallest I have ever seen. A double bed with barely enough room for 1 nightstand. A/C unit was old and noisy. Bathroom was small. Very old and in need of major renovation. The rooms are relatively reasonable for the location but not sure they are priced low enough for the poor condition.

worst experience ever

Posted Feb 5, 2016
Not "boutique" hotel. Rooms sparse, curtains dirty, floor sandy, one door opened to shower curtain right in my face, tiny toilet, no soaps etc,, tiny closet, no breakfast not even coffee, and the man who was doing dishes said it didnt matter, not to be upset. But we paid for b&b and so we pd over $180 for the nite, we felt cheated and deceived.

I loved the location, we took the bus and then the free trolley to downtown. We also visited the beautiful beaches nearby.

Location is right in the midst of Candado Beach.

Pros: The quaint Spanish style, and the outdoor sitting areas, as well as the location. Front desk service was excellent.
Cons: Getting hot water for a shower took forever.
Our stay at this hotel was 3 days, at the end of a cruise and resort holiday in Loiza. Their Continental Breakfast was good way to begin day, in their outdoor garden. Sitting areas inside the hotel were also well furnished and clean. Spanish decor of the hotel suits the area. Market on the first Sunday of the month was a neat experience. There are lots of restaurants and shops in the area. Safe to walk around in the evenings. Room was small, but adequate. We would stay there again, instead of paying the high prices of nearby hotels. It is only 1 block away from the beach. You would need transportation to visit Old San Juan, or the big shopping centers.

Location is Only Saving Grace

Posted Jan 5, 2016
Pros: location
Cons: The rooms/bathrooms/breatkfast.
Location: Bar Gitano and a Crepe Maker is across the street as well as a Fresh Market Bus stop to San Juan Cafe del Angel
This hotel has a great location, but the walk to the beach is not as close as I had assumed. You have to use street access and there are ONLY lounge chairs available for the Marriott or La Concho resorts, everything else is pay only. The rooms were TINY, I mean micro! The floors were pretty gross and the bathroom was very dated with a horribly tiny shower that flooded the bathroom every time. A full size man's knees touched the wall if seated on toilet. The bed made our backs hurt after three days. Miserable sleep. They are barely full size in the room we had, Small and uncomfortable with questionable stains on the sheets. The actual rooms were pretty horrible. We didn't even have a phone! The "continental breakfast" is only carbs. No fresh fruit, any meats, nor eggs. Just pastries and toast and dry cereal. Coffee, tea and orange juice. The coffee and Juice were VERY good, but not enough and we had someone in our travel party who has a gluten intolerance, and this was a wasted "breakfast" included. The staff was pleasant and very nice to us, but they will absolutely try to call you a cab when you can take the bus into San Jun for 75 cents. The bus stop was only two or three blocks up the street a little past the Marriott. VERY nice location for that. The cab they did call for us took us to to the wrong baseball park, useless. We missed the baseball game!

Nicht mehr als für eine Nacht

Posted Nov 16, 2015
You get what you pait, sagt der Amerikaner.

great location

This hotel was perfect for us. The room was small but with the location being central to everything - All we needed was a clean, safe and quiet place to sleep at night and this had it all. 2 blocks away from the casino and bars across the street. Walking distance to everything. And The staff was fantastic! Thank you for a great stay!

Super friendly staff - amazing location

Posted Nov 4, 2015
Pros: Best part about the hotel was it's friendly staff and it's location.
Cons: A little bit more variety for breakfast or at least different breakfast everyday.
I had a great time at the Canario Boutique Hotel. I wouldn't say the rooms were absolute luxury or decorative but they were just perfect for the price we paid. The hotel staff was very friendly and helped us with whatever we asked them. The location of the hotel was just perfect, in proximity to the main strip, bars, restaurants, pharmacy, bus stop, fast food and especially the BEACH. The hotel also did offer complementary continental breakfast which wasn't anything fancy but still pretty decent, considering the low price we were paying. Our rooms were made up every single day before we came back to our room after our day of exploring the city. Although, the hotel was kind of old school. It didn't have elevators, and of course no bellhops, so if you are on a higher floor, you'll have to drag your luggage all the way up the staircase yourself. All in all, great experience. If you aren't looking for great luxury and something that falls in your budget, you can't find a better hotel.
