Nice and close to beach. Staff was very friendlyPosted Oct 4, 2015
We were there at lowest time. Pools need to be maintained better and food is not the best. Not a lot of choices to eat in off season. Rent a car and explore as a lot to see and all close but nothing in walking distance. Golf very close and great food/staff at the course.

It was nice close to the beach not a whole lot toPosted Sep 28, 2015
I wish there was more activities during the day if you're in the pool and more to do you in the evening for adults and if I ever have a rain storm and the power goes out that they accommodate their guests better we had no power for 4 hours and we had to complain in order for them to accommodate us we couldn't sit in the room it was pitch dark couldn't eat because everything was closed do to no power

Relaxing, yet secluded hotelPosted Sep 26, 2015
Pros: The pool and the beach.
Cons: Customer service. The employees at The Market were friendly, our housekeeper was fantastic, but the employees at the desk left a bad taste in my mouth
Location: The resort is secluded, and there is nothing to do without a car. The rainforest is about 30 minutes away and is definitely a worthwhile excursion.
Gran Melia was a relaxing resort. It's right on the beach, although the beach isn't that great of a beach in comparison to others that I traveled to while in Puerto Rico. The resort is on a peninsula. If staying here, it is imperative that you rent a car because otherwise you will spend a ton of money on cab rides to the end of the road and outside of the resort. The resort does not have bikes to check out or rent, so that isn't an option either. The food is dramatically overpriced and doesn't show off authentic Puerto Rican cuisine. The staff was friendly(ish), but whenever there was a problem, it was difficult to speak with a manager andthe staff found it frustrating that we were challenging what they were saying. For instance, the morning we checked out, we had a bill put in our door that had the dinner that had been charged to the room on it. When we went to check out, there was a parking charge that had been added (in a matter of hours). The woman helping was standoffish. I will say that two of the female managers that I spoke with were friendly and accommodating. The pool was incredibly relaxing, and if you have a family or are an older couple, this would be an ideal location. As a twenty something, this was certainly the wrong resort. There is no night life at the resort or anywhere close. The resort used to have a casino, but that has been closed. In conclusion, this resort was relaxing and would be a good fit for an older couple or family, not for young people.

Nice hotel nd wonderful rainforest viewPosted Sep 25, 2015
Had an amazing time for my vacation. Loved every bit of it. The beach was nice, pool very clean, and room service was always on point. I definitely would go back to this hotel again.

I would rather stay outside in the forestPosted Sep 18, 2015
Staff where mostly friendly with the exception of a few. The food was Way over priced and they needed 400 security deposit to stay there I case you ran up a bill and ran away I guess?? Way nicer to rent a car and go anywhere other than stay there. We only enjoyed going back to feed the strays (seriously an enjoyment we love animals). House keeping didn't clean our room until the next night @ 11:30pm. They said they have shuttles up and down all day so we wouldn't have to walk to our room but we only ever saw one once going the other way. They put us in the back of the resort so the walk was not fun after a few days. When checking out the lady at the counter told us to go stand in line to check out rather then stay in the cool lobby there was a line far off with no one in it but she insisted we stand in line (we were the start and end of the line)??? Anyways not worth the savings we went to Whyndom just up the road for dinner and breakfast and that place blew this place away!!!

2nd Time Visit- A bit disappointedPosted Sep 8, 2015
Pros: The grounds
Cons: Wedding services and food
Location: El Yunque is pretty close, very nice trails and waterfalls.
I love the grounds in Grand Melia and this is why I booked the second time here after 4 years of my last visit. But I must say that I feel the customer service has decreased. This doesn't apply to all staff but what I am disappointed about is because I was considering of having my wedding ceremony and reception here after being in communication with the wedding coordinator months before. I wanted to talk to someone in person, about location and services. I spoke to front desk a few other staff and they didn't know who was in charge of this department. It has discouraged me to plan my special day here. Food here was mediocre, rent a car to visit the island and try different restaurants in Old San Juan and other towns.

beautiful hotel but nothing to do except for pool.Posted Sep 6, 2015
This hotel is beautiful as far as the grounds, landscaping and pool. There isn't a beach.. All rocks and grass and maybe 20 feet of sand. The rooms are very nice and clean. If you decide to go to this hotel make sure to rent a car because there is nothing to do except for swim and the food is very expensive. Burger night was $100.00 for 2 adults and 2 kids.:) Make sure to request a room with a fridge because only some rooms have them. Two out of the three resturaunts were closed and the pool bar, grill and outside bars closed at 6:00. The bartenders were very serious and served you when they wanted to. The hotel was only 15% full when we went out of 554 rooms. I think that says it all.. I wouldn't recommend this hotel to anyone. Not worth the money..
