The food was Inconsistent. Not what was advertized

Posted Feb 20, 2017
Pros: Grounds, Landscaping and Pools
Cons: Restaurant and Food Service - Prices are 20 - 30% too high
Location: Rain Forest Zip Line Kayaking Sailing to other islands Wave Runners Great Place to relax in the sun by the pools
Since Westin has sold the Rio Mar to Wyndam, the prestige has slipped considerable. This I was told by other guests. My stay was Okay at best. The restaurant food was disappointing. The access to the hotel from the garage was closed. Snack food was ridiculous in price. No in room refrigerator. This forced us to use the on property store and snack bars. Waiters expected tips even when the service was less than adequate. Iguana pooped on pool deck and guests had to request janitorial service to come back to sanitize the pool deck after it was initially cleaned up. Rating 1 - 5: 1=Lousy 2=Poor 3= Adequate 4= Good 5=Excellent Restaurant Food: 2 Room Cleanliness: 3 Beach: 5 Grounds Appearance: 5 General Prices: 3 Front Desk Assistance: 2 Interior Lobby Area: 4 Off Site Restaurants: 2 Had to wait a extended amount of time to get food service. If you like Plantain its great Garage Parking: 2 Had to pay each day to self park + taxes Shuttle / Taxi Service: 2 Have to pay $60 - $80 / Per person to go back to San Juan Room Charges: 4 This was fairly priced Off Facility Tourist Visit: 4 Lots to do off the Resort Property Return Visit: 2.5 Probably not unless it was with a group..... Seems they do well with large groups Overall: 2.5 Disappointing

Nice hotel, great view from room

Posted Feb 13, 2017
Enjoyed the stay, elevator was broken and treated a bit of a walk from the parking garage. We enjoyed our room however, which was equipped with two showers! Overall great 4 star resort with a lot of pools and awesome view of beach.

Nice Beach

Posted Feb 13, 2017
Pros: Beach
Cons: Way to stuffy.
Location: Only time to Puerto Rico , most things outside the resort are third world country.
Nice beach , everything here is nice, and you will pay a premium for it. $20.00 per day valet charge. Food and drinks are some what high. You can be somebody if you want to pay the daily charge for a cabana and be with all the self righteous want to be somebody's. Overall the staff is great , rooms are decent, but as said the best part is the beach. For the same amount of money we will go back to Kauai , Maui, Hawaii the big island. Florida , Texas , but no interest to ever return to Puerto Rico. Ran down third world country for a vacation.

Great Beach and Nice Facilities

Posted Feb 10, 2017
The resort has nice finishing and was clean. The staff was extremely nice and accommodating. The restaurants had above average food but the nightlife was non existent. If you are looking for a relaxing atmosphere with an amazing beach it's perfect. If you are looking for an active bar/night life it's not the resort.

Exceptional Resort Hotel in Rio Grande Puerto Rico

Posted Feb 7, 2017
Pros: The beach, pools, cleanliness, friendly staff, cozy rooms, and multiple places to just relax day and night.
Cons: Parking should be free for guests. Restaurants are a bit overpriced.
Location: Very quite location, which is a great thing if you just want to relax. Get a rental car and drive to San Juan ( 45 minutes) and Fajardo ( 20 Minutes)
We had an exceptional three day stay at the Wyndham Grand Rio Mar. Upon checking into the hotel I was immediately impressed, and honestly a bit shocked at how nice the place was. I expected quite a bit less due to the lower price point, but upon entering the hotel you are welcomed beautiful and tasteful décor, cleanliness, and most importantly an incredibly friendly staff. We had just a basic rainforest view room, and again I was pleasantly surprised to find how clean and comfortable the room was. The bathroom was quite spacious, and was immaculately clean. The bed was a king size, and very comfortable. Each room has its own balcony, big enough for two or three people to comfortably sit outside, the best part however is the gorgeous view of the rainforest right out side. Granted we were on the fifth floor, but the view of the rainforest and mountains in the background were breathtaking. The resort has numerous restaurants, bars, and places just to hang out after a long day of relaxing. After a long day definitely grab a drink and sit by the fire pit. The restaurants are overpriced ( as expected) but the food is decent and there is a nice selection. Check out Iguanas Pub for once of the best views in the area!! food was okay, but the view made it well worth it. There are multiple pools ( Kids and Adult pool) and a beautiful private beach. Easily one of the best in Puerto Rico. Check out the Jet Ski rental place!! Just make sure to have your own car!

A last minute get away

Posted Feb 4, 2017
The hotel staff was friendly and helpful and the resort was clean and updated. The pools were in great condition and the beach was well preserved and maintained. It was both a couples and family location and never felt too crowded. The food was good but a bit expensive and not all the restaurants were open every day, but there was availability. Would definitely go back because of location, accommodations, views and staff.

Beautiful hotel with friendly staff

Posted Feb 2, 2017
Beautiful hotel out of the way of the main hustle and bustle of San Juan. Staff was genuinely friendly and helpful. The only reason it did not get 5 stars is that I wished for better dinning options on site. There were 4 fairly fancy restaurants on site and really on one casual option, causing us to go off site for casual dining options. Which actually was a blessing in disguise as there are several local great dining options close by car. Our favorite dining was offsite but nearby.
