Construction ruined our stay

Posted Jul 23, 2017
Overall, it was a great experience. However, they were doing construction in the main lobby, which for the most part wasn't an issue. The issue was that the construction continued throughout the night and into the wee morning hours while we were trying to sleep. For 2 nights in a row, I was woken 3 times once at 1AM, then 3:15Am, then 4AM to the sounds of a jackhammer! The hotel is all open, so the acoustics in there were magnified, which made it worse. We ended up leaving a day early, because I couldn't bear the thought of another sleepless night there. I did talk to the manager, but all really he could do was apologize. This should NEVER happen in a hotel where people are sleeping! I was dumbfounded.

Bad experience

Posted Jul 22, 2017
Pros: Hard working staff.
Cons: Everything.
Location: Down town area with shopping and local restaurants.
Hotel is in poor condition under renovation.construction and noise during the day was loud and Prevent us from having a rest during the afternoon.air condition was loud and didn't work properly.during the week we stayed there were few floods after rain in the evening and the main Restaurant was soaked in water,we had to stay and eat when dozens of hotel staff fighting With the water with towels trying to clean for hours and moving tables around. Hotel staff tried hard to help and serve but are not professional.wi/fi service were bad and Didn't work most of the time.sitting in the lobby was a bad experience, sales agents were trying All the time to sell time share deals, trips etc.and were bothering us all the time. Over all, bad stay in hotel under construction. Want my money back!!!

Excellent customer service.

Thank you for making our stay great. Special thanks to victor and the wait staff at the bar. Workers are very friendly and helpful whenever you have a question. This is in a perfect spot if you want to walk to the melacon and flea market, and close enough to the marina.

Not a lot to complain about....

Posted Jul 12, 2017
We had a great experience this past week at the BV Grand Hotel and Spa. Staff is second to none. Location is great, and the views are amazing. The food was good not great, and the drinks would not stop coming. Construction going on but not a big deal...Overall a solid 4 for the price. ...

Thought this was a nice hotel, NOT!!

Posted Jul 7, 2017
Stayed the week of 6/26/17 Very diisapointed, the first thing you see when you arrive is the major contruction going on. Hotel is oudated rooms are small, damp and beds are not very comfortable. Our room was very noisy from the construction, and it goes on all day, nonstop. This was very annoying to be on vacation and have to listen to drilling, hammering and welding all day.The only thing good about this hotel is the location, walking distance to el malecon and center of town. Staff was very nice, every did treat us very nice, not thie r fault that they are under construction. Other draw back is that they only currently have two restaurants. Both buffet style and not a lot of change in food all week, also no authentic Mexican food. If your looking to eat Mexican food go out on the streets or el males in plenty of better food than at hotel. I would definitely not go back to this hotel and really would not recommend anyone booking here at least for a year till construction is done!!!! Worst hotel ever!!!!

Not for me!

Posted Jul 6, 2017
Pros: I am not big drinker but Bar Tenders seemed very responsive.
Cons: Everything!
Location: Walk to shops and beach. But beaches are not Sandy. Recommend water shoes.
I had reserved Ocean View Room and I learned that there is difference between "Ocean View" and "Ocean Facing". If you can see Ocean it is Ocean View and if you are 90 degrees to Ocean than it is Ocean Facing. Ocean View does not mean Balcony! Food (Breakfast, lunch and dinner) was horrible for vegetarians and non native tourists. They were doing construction so it made it worse. I felt like eating in Holiday Inn complimentary breakfast! Pool was neither clean not impressive size and it would close at 9 PM. Hard Luck if you need Tea or Coffee in night or even 5 PM. You will have to ask for favor. You are good if you tip but without it the service is OK. Not my type of vacation experience!

Walking distance to Malecon and directly on the be

Posted Jul 3, 2017
I've read reviews about how good the staff is and it is true but here are some must know facts: the resort shouldn't be more than a 3 star, there is construction and we still paid a lot! If you go on the balcony, the construction workers will constantly look which makes a guest uncomfortable! Also they work from 8 am to 7 pm so the noise all day is horrible. The resort itself is old and needs some updating. Small lobby, no place to sit and chill out. There are 2 restaurants and the buffet is not the best but it is fine. The "a la carte" lunch was great, as if more attention is given to make better meals. We tried chicken few times and always it was not cooked well. The pools are cleaned throughout the day and they are sparkling. The floors are sweeped near the pools to dry the wet puddles so that was great. Pharmacies, souvenir shops, restaurants and night clubs are few steps away and all accessible by foot. There are some activities that go on every night but if they are in the lobby, you won't find space to sit and the karaoke night at the pool was only one hour. I recommend this resort only if the construction is done quickly. They said they are opening a new restaurant in few weeks. Again, all staff from management to waiters, and cleaners are awesome.
