Good location with a great staff

Posted Feb 4, 2016
Pros: The location and the staff.
Cons: Being able to adjust the room temperature. The dinner service could be improved if the wait staff was more attentive.
Location: There are shops/restaurants right out the front door. The Malecon (boardwalk) is about a 10 minute walk.
The location is great for walking to restaurants, shops, and the Malecon. The staff was very friendly and helped make it a good experience. The grounds are well maintained and everything seems in pretty good condition. The room was small without a balcony and there was a bit of a mildew smell from the bathroom but overall pretty clean. We had a room with two full-size beds so sleeping was tight. The view was mostly of some palm trees but we could see a bit of the ocean. One issue with the rooms is that you can't control the AC temperature. You have to call someone to have them change it. Also, the hallways are pretty loud and you can hear every little noise in your room if you don't have the AC on. There is music by the pool from 8:30pm - 10:00pm every night so that might be annoying if you go to bed early. The food is pretty typical for all-inclusive. Not bad but nothing to write home about. There aren't really four restaurants as they advertise. The Beach Club and the Sunset Restaurant are the same thing but you have to make a reservation for dinner. The Bistro Gourmet is just part of the buffet so really there are only two places to eat. We brought our daughter so we did use the kids club. The sign on the door and the website both say it opens at 9:00am but the staff there say it opens at 10:00am and won't take your kid until then. They are friendly and do activities with the kids like making bracelets, face painting, and playing in the kiddie pool.

Good location but noisy & food disappointing

Posted Feb 2, 2016
Pros: The location of this hotel is very good - within walking distance of town & Malecon. The gym, whilst small is quite well equipped & functional.
Cons: Gym supplies Food fresh & simple Waiters pay attention Noise management Update room decor & standard of repair
Location: The location of this hotel is very good - within walking distance of town & Malecon. Excellent restaurants, lovely art galleries in town, good beach
The location of this hotel is very good - within walking distance of town & Malecon. The gym, whilst small is quite well equipped & functional. Other clientele appeared to really enjoy the hotel & its facilities. Service to gym for clean towels & water is inconsistent. Food was disappointing (lunch buffet at Hilton Hotel PV much better) & wait staff largely indifferent to requests (water without ice proved to be a real challenge). Tables not set (after 1st seating) with cutlery & napkins, etc. All hall noise echoed (people talking loudly at 4am, kids running around hallways, etc) throughout halls & into rooms. Foyer entertainment reverberated into room - no sound dissipation at all. Entertainment was loud & band was average. Music was not to my taste, which is likely affecting my opinion! Room decor was old and outdated. Shower door didn't slide properly.

Older Resort near the beach

Posted Jan 27, 2016
Pros: The waiters and busboys in the restaurants were very pleasant and made us feel welcome. In particular Eduardo and Jorge.
Cons: Training personnel how to make guests feel welcome. Maintenance, Maintenance, Maintenance. Turn up the heat on the food.
Location: Right in the middle of old town with shopping galore. Mal-econ only about 1/2 mile away with a largevariety of stores and exhibits to meander through.
The resort is in dire need of maintenance. I.E. lighting fixtures falling off their bases, light switches that didn't work, bath fans not working, electrical wiring a hazard in the landscaping areas. The maid couldn't get the correct towels replaced everyday. Some days we had wash cloths and hand towels but most often had to hunt down a maid to get these ourselves. Most of the staff was very pleasant and courteous to us. We did however find the front desk staff in need of customer service training. They seemed as if we were intruding when asking for change etc. The lobby bar staff could also use some customer service training. When standing at the bar for a drink I felt like they wished I would just go away. Maybe I was just imaging that but it is how I felt. The food in the cafeteria was not hot even when brought direct from the kitchen. Something really needs to be done about that.

Good location but in need of attention

Posted Jan 26, 2016
Pros: We enjoyed being within walking distance of the Malacon.
Cons: They need to do some updates. Facelifts can cure a lot! Food varieties and temperature control should be on the top of their list for improvements!
Location: 5 blocks from the Malacon was a big plus! There is so much to see in old downtown. Sand sculptures, statues, old buildings,or just people watching!
We travel to Mexico (different parts) every year and always read the reviews that people post. Most of them we take with a grain of salt, knowing you can't please everyone all the time! The hotel is an old one and is starting to show its age. Our room appeared dirty (it was not) but that is due to the tile grout needing a deep clean or replaced. The bathroom was also small (nearly had to step into the shower to close the door in order to use the toilet!). I would categorize the rooms as "adequate". It is a smaller hotel so it wasn't overly crowded. Did not have to battle for chairs around the pool. The food options for the buffet were disappointing. Breakfast especially. You could always get any sort of sautéed vegetables for breakfast but rarely any bacon, sausage or potatoes. The food that was supposed to be heated was barely past a "warm" temp and the food that should be cold generally was not. We always stay at all-inclusives and know what to expect with buffet style food. Lets just say that even though our meals were included, we found ourselves going off site (often) for a meal.

My Sixth Visit to Buenaventura

Posted Jan 25, 2016
Pros: THE STAFF IS GREAT!!!!!!
Cons: Some of the rooms are showing their age, but the cleaning staff do a great job.
Location: Location is PERFECT. A drugstore across the street is handy. There is an OXXO convenience store across the street. Short walk to the Malecon.
I totally love the staff at Buenaventura. I always feel totally welcome. They've just upgraded many of the facilities. I don't even look to stay anywhere else.

Great Location

Posted Jan 24, 2016
Had to wait 3 days to get a room without a view of roof. Grounds well kept, wait staff and bartenders awesome, biggest complaint was having to wait for beverages with every meal. Often didn't get anything to drink till end of meal. Food better then average, great selection of cocktails. Heard noisy guests through out the night while trying to sleep in garden view rooms.

My Favorite PV Hotel

Posted Jan 21, 2016
Have stayed here six times and look forward to returning. Located right on the beach and only a few short blocks to the Malecon, this hotel fits all of my needs. The rooms are spotlessly clean, the food and drinks are delicious, and the service is beyond wonderful. Everyone is courteous and happy to take care of you, especially Jorge, Gustavo, Rigeberto, and German. When employees stay with a company +25 years, you know they enjoy their work and it is evidenced here!

Loud and Smelly Hotel

Posted Jan 20, 2016
I have stayed at this hotel for the past few years and it shocked me to see how far downhill it has gone in every way possible. The food used to be good with fresh seafood and great variety. It now has next to no seafood and the food is terrible! They were constantly fixing things that should be done when the section is closed off to the travellers. Two of my days that I was there, I spent in my room throwing up with a screaming headache because they were using toxic varnish in the hallway. When I phone down to let them know they said they would get back to me but never did. Once I was able to get out of bed I went to Maria and told her, one of the reps for the Premiere place that they try to sell you. She said that she would make me an appt with someone from Premiere and when I went to the meeting they just try to sell me 5 or 10 more years of their timeshare (which they stress is not timeshare but what else would you call it. If you buy in you are sharing the time spent there with others which means timeshare no matter what they want to call it to try to lure you in). I was naive two years ago and bought in for two years and went for two weeks. The room was nice but not even close to what they show you pictures of when they're selling. Do not waste your vacation time listening to them because you will be disappointed in the end. Oh yeah and by the way, they did absolutely nothing for me regarding my room in the Buenaventura side if their hotel that made me so sick.
