This was a perfect place for me and my family to spend time together, it’s very safe quiet and easy to get anywhere by foot or by local transportation. Food was great! Lots of options! Great pools, great beach and the staff was second to none! We really enjoyed our 9 days here!

Overall good value for the $$ . You get what you pay for . The main pool area is gorgeous-clean and you cannot ask for more. Bring your own Yeti if you want to drink in the pool as cups are not allowed. Plenty of chairs and nice entertainment. Beautiful surroundings-I once saw dolphins swimming early in the morning . The resort is close to Melacon if you willing to walk for 20-30 min. Overall nice location. I just wish we were able to eat more in the restaurants not just 3 nights -thought all inclusive meant that. Buffet is lucking options for vegetarians. Pasta night was good:) My only complain would be room itself.Although it was cleaned everyday -the bathroom reeked! I don’t know if that’s every room issue but definitely affected our stay there.

The property main pool area is beautiful, have good kids pool area and quite good japanese restaurant which we could get booking for. The buffet food is average and can be improved. It has old, rustic feel.

Someone went in our room twice when we were at a booked dinner. Dumped our bags out on beds, went through our stuff! Like they get you to book a dinner so they know where you are, so they can go through your room. Made me feel extremely unsafe. Hard to find someone who speaks English. Same food every day, always really cold. Pool was dirty. Activities were slim and boring. Hotel needs major upgrades. Air conditioning was blowing warm. Tv stopped working on first night, took 2 days to get a new one. Phone didn’t work in the room, that never got fixed. We wanted to go home on day 2. Waste of money for sure

On the other hand we have directly reviewed with guest service on the follow-up to this case that someone outside your room entered.And there is no report on this incident, only we found a request report for a remote control for the TV and air conditioning, which were fixed. For us it is very important that you and your family have a happy stay in our facilities and also that it is safe.We have protocols for the case that you commented that it was not reported, between this the sheet metal is checked and the keys of the users and all the staff that entered and left the room, as part of the investigation.It is very important that these kinds of situations approach us to provide follow-up and can be clarified. Property and rooms are clean. Food was terrible. We felt they were limiting us to how many servings we can have which was frustrating. When you pay for an all inclusive you should be able to have whatever is available. Property is nice and staff was very kind. Kids club is awesome. We won’t return to this resort.

I couldn't wait to write a positive review for this place after seeing all the negative. Do not let the negative reviews scare you off at all. My family and I went with our three year old and 5 month old and had a fantastic time. The food was amazing, the rooms did not smell of mold and the hotel itself is beautiful and in a great location. I would recommend this hotel to anyone and am very happy we stayed here.

Canto is aging but the staff is amazing. Taken care of from morning till evening - room in Mountain section was good, steps away from the pool. This pool is quiet, has bar service and is right beside the Cervichia, which is a fantastic place to grab a snack. Also a second area for breakfast buffet - main pool is where the action is if that’s what you like - buffet for breakfast were good, Mainly due to the fact omelettes as are made to order - snack are around bar was just ok - can’t comment on buffet for dinner as only used once. Lunches were good, especially bbq Tuesday. - a La cartes - good variety and portions were very good. Again the service is the reason I would return to Canto, the staff are incredible.

We will not be returning to this resort. We had separate rooms booked which were located in a great area, they were just poorly maintained. Door knobs falling off, dirty floors, broken pull out sofa beds, a piece of the patio door to help hold it shut even fell off. Constantly they would turn off the hot water / completely turn it off without giving guests a heads up. Hammering in empty rooms next to you for days (also without telling you) which isn’t ideal if you are travelling with littles who need to nap during the day. We had about 60 flying bugs come into our room one night (it looked like they were coming through the lights). The restaurants that you need to book to eat at were great and the buffet was always a hit or a miss. The snack bar during the lunch definitely needs a change from day to day. The beach area in front of the ocean is not great at all. The hotel is in a great location for walking to grocery stores. This resort needs a complete makeover and the rooms need to be updated and fixed up. Even the ocean front rooms hot tubs don’t work or have hot water in the rooms. The one good thing about this hotel is the amazing friendly and helpful staff that they have.

I was annoyed with the service right from the start. We tried checking in at 2:30 but our room wasn’t available until 3:15 so we had to sit and wait. We were not allowed to use the pool as we did t have our wristbands yet and even though we would be booked in that day. Then finally, 3:15, we get our room. The room looked great to begin with but after my husband showered, the whole floor flooded as the drain was plugged. The water went up our bedsheets and the entire bedroom floor was a wet mess. Under the bed was dirt and used slippers. The safe in the bedroom did not work either. We had friends that were flown in early but had to stay at a hotel across the street. We wanted our daughters friend to stay with us but she was not allowed, as no wristband but they were checking in the next day? Few days later, my son’s wristband was torn off on the rocks in the ocean and when we went to get a new one, they wanted 500pesos? For plastic? Heck no. Only two out of the four restaurants, that you had to book 3 days in advance were actually good. The one wouldn’t let us in until our whole party was there. One child was in the washroom and they would not sit us until he was there. If he wasn’t back in 10 minutes, we would lose our reservation even though half the tables were empty. We tried to get an extra seat one night for a friend that was on the resort and they said no, although half the tables were empty. Not very accommodating with anything basically.

The property was really nice for an older building. It was kept clean and the staff were great! The week we were there the Surf and Turf restaurant wasn't really ever open and there was no Mexico theme night (that was occuring the night we left, but did not happen the first night we were there).

We had mixed views on this stay. The grounds were nice. Pools were good. Buffet was good. Very hard to book at the a la cart restaurants. Our room was in the Mountain section which was very dated. A/C had high/med/low settings but were not marked. We couldn't get a good consistent temperature. The shower temperature would not stay constant. They did not provide a map of the property so it was hard to navigate. I lost a key card and was charged $200 pesos which is a bit extreme for a key card.

This property is on the older side and requires updating. Our sliding door would not shut properly. Food was not bad. Can only eat A La Carte restaurant every 2 days and you must make reservations in advance. The lady at the reservation counter could be more friendly. She makes it obvious she does not like her job. Front staff does not seem to know what they are doing. Did not provide welcome letter to us right away which had all the questions i needed answered. They are very stingy with water bottles. We are a family of 4 and they gave us 2 bottles only for the entire stay. I asked for 2 more and they said they only provide 2 bottles for the room eventhough it states right on the welcome letter that each guest is to receive a water bottle. The guest service man just left a sour taste in my mouth. I felt so deflated as we wanted 2 water bottles for my kids so we are not drinking from the same bottle. There are water containers on site to refill your water by lobby and in gym. Gym and tennis were great! If you get a larger room in the mountain side, you will be further away from the pool and the beach. If you swim in the ocean make sure you go past the rocks on the right side as there will be less rocks. My son cut his feet badly on the first day. Make sure you try Cevecheria restaurant for lunch. It's good. There was an event every night. Overall, this property I would say is average. Staff at the main restaurant were all friendly. All the bartenders too.

Really enjoyed our stay! It was a four generation trip for us and everyone felt they would happily return to the Canto del Sol. Grandkids had a great time! Beds were a little too firm and some pool deck areas were a bit slippery. Food was good. Lots of options! Staff were helpful and friendly.

It lives up to its 3.5 star. You get what you pay for. I’d say service was good. We got to know a few regular servers and they treat you very good. The buffet is not very big and food is mediocre. Definitely nothing special about the buffet. There is a snack bar open from 12-5. 4 A La carte’s. You only get 3 vouchers for the A La carte unless your vip. Surf and turf and Mexican ones were the best. Not a lot of beach right out back but if you walk to the right it’s a much bigger beach. They have activities every day. Very family oriented. They only give u 2 water bottles in your room then u have to fill them up or buy more. They were constantly running out of mint for mojitos. Overall it is what u make it. U can definitely have a good time just not a 4 or 5 star

It was not very professional from the staff to accuse us for the irone missing in the room. When there was not a iron in the room, we did not see it and we did not pay attention, we did not use it. That was an insult for us. We are civilized people and we were there in vacation celebrating my birthday. We expecting an apologize and an explanation from the staff for their unprofessional handling the situation. Very disappointed.

Exactly what you would expect. Buffet food was decent. Food at the specialized restaurant we tried was less so, and the ceviche bar was excellent. Property is fine, could use a little more maintenance detail, but is clean. Staff is friendly and courteous. Be careful not to lose towel cards and wrist bands, they are all collected and rigorously tracked at checkout. Good value for the price... not luxurious or the most idyllic, but gets you to PV (close enough to the action) and fed. Gym is relatively good if you like free weights, could use some minor augmentation... more clamps, cable machine handles are frozen/missing, etc.

I love that this propery is right on the beach. The entertianment was nice and the team was engaging. All the wait staff were very friendly. I found the front desk staff to not be very helpful when I had any questions and had better luck asking other guests. If youre planning to use your food vochures for the restaurants, book those right away as I found out the hard way that the restaurants are not open everyday. The property is clean and the landscaping is really pretty for anyone that loves plants/flowers. My only complaints is that the shower always made a big mess with water everywhere in the washrooms. But the cleaning staff cleaned it up by the time i got back to my room. I enjoyed the food and the cappuccino is fantastic! I would definitely go back.

The staff here are great! Super friendly, helpful and hardworking. Older property but a lot of effort goes in to keeping it clean and comfortable.

Was not allowed to use tennis courts and told was going to be charged for lights, not allowed to eat breakfast out in tables and chairs viewing the ocean, charged for pool towel card, unfriendly check in, laundry services not picked up when said it would be and never got picked up, food was unbearable, always questioned where we were going when we left the resort, plastic drink cups from pool bar not washed thoroughly and made some of our group sick. For the price we paid and supposed to be VIP we were not treated VIP

I have complex food allergies and my diet was beautifully catered to. I think that the food selection was also incredible and tasty. The people working here were so polite and kind to us. The entertainment each night was outstanding. I lived being close to the beach

The iguanas added to the awesomeness of the property, the staff were all so welcoming, kind and helpful. They were always cleaning which made me feel safe and comfortable as well. The shows in the lobby were fantastic too!

Staff is amazing! Rooms need to be updated, we have been staying here for 3 years in a row. This year we decided it will be our last. Rooms need to be upgraded, bed was old very uncomfortable, every room we have stayed in smells like mold even though the rooms are extremely clean. Even though thought they offer a big menu all of the food has no flavor and all seems to taste the same sorry to say but it all tasted terrible, I did not finde one thing I enjoyed during our 8 day stay. Another disappointment was all liquor seemed to be on the lower end, no top shelf liquor was offered to us even though we were VIP guest. Will note definitely not be recommending or staying in this location again.
