The property was nice and clean. Room was very spacious and equipped with a full refrigerator, microwave and 2 burner stove. Small balcony over looking the beautiful beach and ocean. The activity direct was a delight. The housekeeping staff was great. I found all the staff to be nice and friendly but I also felt like they were always in your business. I personally prefer to wheel my own luggage to my room but that was absolutely not allowed at Costa Sur even after I asked them if I could please just handle my own bag. I was told no. I had family staying at a nearby hotel and I needed to deliver some things over to them. I used a suitcase to transport the items. When I asked the bellhop for a cab he would not call me one unless I went back in to the front desk and told them I was leaving. I said WHAT??? Literally 1 of the 3 argued with me and refused to call over a cab to take me until I told the front desk where I was going with luggage. I told them it was absolutely none of their business where I was going and why I had a piece of luggage. We were literally at a 6 minute stand still until the female bellhop walked inside to reception and then reception phoned the bellhop stand and told them to call over a cab for me. For this experience alone I would never ever stay at this hotel again. Later that same day when I returned the younger bellhop wearing a red shirt apologized for what happened earlier. He was not the bellhop that was demanding I get approval in order to leave
Refurbished room was ok and most of the staff was nice. The lobby market was convenient. However, very bad experience. Hotel is old (as evidenced by the tiny 2-person elevators). Old uncomfortable bed. Shower either boiling or freezing. Air conditioner inadequate. Sewer smell. Food was awful and made me instantly sick one day after a few bites. Luckily the restroom was nearby. Tiny pool area with not nearly enough loungers and umbrellas. No sand beach as advertised-rock beach with a few small patches of sand. Not worth the price.

This particular room was in need of upgrading and very noisy. Bed was very comfortable.
We really enjoyed the heated pool, and the activities they offered. Food was not great at restaurant and many people complained about being sick. Not sure if that’s a Mexico thing or what. We are plant based eaters so selection was very limited.
Didn't realize this was a time share property. The check in process was terrible. We were told we had to go talk to this lady who would give us drink tickets and tell us about the amenities of the hotel. She kept us there for half an hour trying to get us to sign up for a time share breakfast presentation. We told her we had food poisoning (which was true) and couldn't make it and she still made us sit there while she tried to convince us to sign up. The hotel itself was old and run down and not clean and falling apart. The restaurant service was not great. There was consistently bird poop on all of the pool chairs and the staff acted annoyed when you asked them to clean it off. There were ants in the room. The hotel itself is inconveniently located 15 minute drive from town. There was a lot of road noise and I had to sleep with ear plugs. The AC was shotty at best. There was bird poop all over the balcony of our room. The bed didn't have actual sheets, but just the slip cover so the mattress was exposed.
Big disappointment. Costa Sur is a tired and outdated resort. It’s noisy, the sewer smell lingers in the air and the dining facilities are limited and slow. I’ve never experienced such old and worn out towels. They were rough and frayed around the edges. This resort is in need of a major overhaul. I can’t recommend nor would I ever return to stay.
The staff was extremely friendly. Ricardo, Erik, Reynaldo, Marco, Santos and Neto. Special cudos to Oscar for waiting drinks in the sand.
The property has seen better days, and the traffic was extremely loud. The on site restaurant is good in a pinch, but we preferred to go into town.
Javier, our doorman in the old building, is helpful and friendly.

On the second Monday of our stay there was a major disturbance 2 doors down from us that lasted from 9:30 that evening until 5:30 the next morning. A couple were in a fight that included yelling obscenities, fists pounding on the door, and at one time a blood curdling scream from the woman. We called security but they could speak no English and seemed oblivious to the situation. The next morning we reported it to the front desk and they simply said that they they told the couple that if they did it again the police would be called. We asked for a deduction on our bill since we lost an entire night of sleep. The hotel said it wasn't their fault so no deduction would be given. This was not only a loss of one night's sleep it could have evolved into a very dangerous situation.
The best part about this place is the lagoon in the front of the property, good for snorkelling. Make sure you understand how the charges to the room work and the restaurant’s before you go. Older style hotel but very clean.
The service was great and the staff friendly. We appreciated the store inside the resort. It was well stocked and not overpriced. The.pool.amd lounge areas were immaculate.

This didn’t work for us for a relaxing holiday by the ocean. We were able to have lounge chairs beside the pool only on only 3/8 days. And there were only 6 sun umbrellas for 58 lounge chairs. It was very crowded and lacked sufficient means to get out of the sun.
The 2 pools were nice. The ocean front private tidal pool was beautiful. The balcony views s were spectacular!
The poolside staff/waiters were friendly and hardworking!! Bell hops were great!
My negative experience was the greeting from the concierge Elizabeth. We felt attacked, bullied and lied to about going to a timeshare.
We came to this resort to relax and enjoy our stay. It was an extremely uncomfortable and stressful situation. We were told 90 minutes of our time is all we needed to listen to some time share information. We slotted 90 minutes out of our vacation time and then we’re told they needed 4 hrs of our time!! And then got upset when we said we had made other plans as we did NOT KNOW we need 4 hrs.! We did give Sabrina 2 hrs of our time but because we did not commit to the 4 hr presentation that we had NO IDEA ABOUT!! That we could not receive the complimentary free breakfast, the 100$ voucher or 2 free massages we were offered prior. That was 2 hours of OUR vacation time that we gave to Costa Sur for nothing in return. That is poor business.:((
I would NOT stay OR recommend this resort to my friends or family for this reason alone :(

I really enjoyed our stay at Costa Sur. I liked the non all inclusive aspect to our stay. The views on our balcony were breathe taking!!! And the food at the restaurants were great. We learned very quickly that the staff is very motivated by money. If you want good service you have to tip and if you want great service tip even better.

The view of the ocean from our balcony was unbelievable. Also, Erika, the concierge, was very, very helpful and made our stay perfect.
Way too expensive for the quality. It’s old, they communicate changes, fixes, etc. very poorly. The lobby people are REALLY not good and they make it seem like they’re doing you a favour, and I had to call 4 times in 2 days to get some clean towels. Only stay here if you get a cheap deal, otherwise it’s not worth it.

Great New Year’s celebration with fireworks. They really need to upgrade the room towels. And reception needs to answer their calls in a timely matter. Excellent dining staff.
The room had a direct ocean view.
There was a substantial kitchen with a large refrigerator in the room
The pools were delightful and they allowed guests to swim sometimes beyond the official closing time
Friendly service
The only downside were the elevators. Only two and small

Private beach and sound of wave during sleep was cool. But not able to use the beach at all due to 'high waves'.

The property has most of what you need: a beach, a restaurant, 2 pools, entertainment, good parking. Its rooms are a bit run down. The restaurant is not top notch but staff is super friendly. The bar is great. The air near the hot pool has some waste water odor. The beach is slightly narrow and closes in high tide situations. But, the overall experience is cost effective and nice. All the rooms are waterfront. Overall, a good place to stay in PVR.
My family of 7 and I enjoyed Costa Sur very much. We enjoyed how accessible the local buses are to pick up passengers for shopping. We enjoyed our breakfasts/dinner next to the pool side. We will be staying here again.

Friendly staff. Once a beautiful resort but showing its age. Small things like worn towels, pool pump not working, sand in pool, old utensils and common area cleanliness not up to par. Restaurant snd bar expensive to eat and drink at. Location is very amazing and beautiful.
Room was cleaned well everyday.

Worst vacation experience. The resort is a senior citizen resort. The staff is very unprofessional except for a tip for placing a to-go order and they had the nerve to ask if I wanted my change back. The restaurant at the hotel was too Americanized in addition I got food poisoning. I told the staff and was given a blank look. The shower was dirty with hair on the walls. First and last time coming to the “resort”
