Shopping at Plaza Caracol

Within a 10-minute drive of Fiesta Americana - Puerto Vallarta, guests can watch the boats come in at the picturesque marina, and see the sun set over the Bay of Banderas. The pedestrian shopping precinct of Plaza Caracol is a short walk away, and El Malecón Boardwalk makes for a pleasant stroll.

A drink under the palapa

Guests can alternate between swimming and sunbathing on the private beach and taking dips in the outdoor pool. There’s a fitness center for burning off some extra calories from meals at the hotel’s 6 restaurants, and the thatched-roof palapa is a laid-back spot for evening cocktails.

Free WiFi, lovely views

Guests can breathe in the warm sea breeze from a private balcony while enjoying views of the ocean or the Sierra Madre Occidental mountain range. It's easy to stay connected with free WiFi, and there's a minibar for chilled snacks and drinks.

The staff was super friendly and made our stay fantastic! We enjoyed the variety of food selections and of course how can you go wrong with unlimited food and drinks! The only complaint I could have is we didn't stay longer but I guess that's our fault:)

Decent hotel but not 5 star

We have stayed at the Fiesta Americana in Cancun several times which is why we chose to stay at Fiesta in Puerta Vallarta. Even though they have the same name they operate very differently. The one in Puerta Vallarta is about a 1 star compared to the Cancun location. Food is ok nothing great, service is slow and not great at restaurants, and the waiters are dismissive. On our first night, we were given a dirty room with sandy soiled sheets. Our room wasn't cleaned until 4 pm every day, which is a nuisance because that's when we would be back in our room to shower and relax. Room service was very slow and food was pretty cold when it came. We were not given the same attention as the Caucasian guests. My husband is Caucasian and though I'm American I have olive skin and can be mistaken for Latina. My husband would get treated very differently than I would do id have to send him to get drinks or food for me since I'd be ignored at the pool, the beach, the bar and grill. I watched two infants fall on the hard floor in restaurants bc they were not given high chairs. We are very respectful people who aren't loud or make a fuss and we tip well but even then the service was not good. I also saw staff reserving chairs by pool for guests early in AM which could be why there was a lack of spots if you didn't reserve by 7:30 AM. This is our third time to PV but first time to this hotel and I can't say we will be back due to lack of service and quality being poor.

Very nice hotel centrally located

Pros: The staff, food, drinks and entertainment.
Cons: New lounge chairs. Try to decrease the number of birds, too much poop, Easy chair in room for reading.
Location: Centrally located. Short cab ride to downtown shopping, church, restaurants, art galleries and flea markets. Wonderful tours of all kinds.
Great staff: chefs, bellman, bartenders, concierges, front desk and maids. Rooms were double beds. Furniture in good condition. Needs a comfortable chair to sit and read, not lay in bed all the time. Lounge chairs need replaced. Pool small, but very nice. Food and drinks abundant and very good. Best Mexican fiesta we have been to. Waiters very attentive. Chefs accommodating. Maids good, but showed up too often because short towels or other supplies. We had a very relaxing and fun vacation. Met many wonderful people You could not beat the bang for your buck. We were satisfied. We will consider going back again, but not in January. Still chilly and not much sun. No problems at all.

Pros: staff, location
Cons: Problem in responding to special requests...I had asked for a room that was 6th floor or higher with a king bed...I was told every morning to ask
Location: mid way between town and marine; walking distance to many stores, restaurants, etc.
Lovely hotel. Staff people are great. LOT of food and drink, but less special than before it was all inclusive

Charming hotel

Pros: The great staff.
Cons: Although the regular buffet food was quite good, the special theme night offerings were a little disappointing.
Location: We went whale watching. We easily and safely rode the bus (for under $.50 US) to the downtown shopping area. Taxis are also quite cheap also
This was a very pleasant hotel experience. It was our first time to Puerto Vallarta and I was expecting an elaborate space like the hotel (different company) we stayed at in Cancun. It was smaller than our Cancun hotel experience but had more charm. It has several eating options (all inclusive) and the food was generally very good. The rooms were clean and comfortable. The staff was great. They were constantly looking for ways to make the guests feel comfortable.

Pros: all rooms have a ocean view, plenty of chairs on the beach and pool to lounge, friendly staff everywhere
Cons: the vendors constantly trying to sell you stuff while you're relaxing on the beach was my least favorite part. it was incessant.
I spent five days at fiesta americana and had a wonderful experience! everyone is incredibly friendly and attentive and the property is gorgeous

Not a vacation if you have to get up at 6am

Pros: It was clean, close to downtown.
Cons: This hotel has gone way down in 2 years in food level, staff service, chair availability, and giving the guest customer service.
The front desk was not friendly. Rooms at Club level are not any better than lower rooms, except a slightly better view and give no special treatment for the extra cost except a morning/evening snack and some liquor. When people go on vacation to a sunny place one expectation is you can actually lay out at the pool...to do so here required getting up at 6-7am joining all the others placing towels on chairs to use later. I asked why this was allowed to several of the staff, and everyone we spoke to said it was out of there control. I stayed at 4 places this trip reviews to come, and only at Fiesta Americana did this happen. The resort needs more chairs, they need to take towels off chairs when they are clearly not used for 3-5 hours which we watched the one day of 5, we actually got 2 chairs. A family held 4 chairs, swam 30 mins, took the kids to nap and never came back for 4 hours while others were circling looking for a place. Enrique (the pool manager) did try to help us, he was the only friendly pool staff. He could only apologize when none could be found. The food was plentiful, although very average. The main reason we came here a return rip from 2 years ago was the New Years Eve party. Well big mistake, this year on top of a hefty amount for this level of hotel they charged $89 US per person on top of all inclusive prices. They never did that before, and the dinner was average, no real entertainment like before, and a low turn out. Never coming back!

Nice hotel; beside the beach

Pros: Food was good. Showers were excellent. Pool was great for the kids as not too deep.
Cons: More evening activities. More hospitable service.
Location: Close to downtown and close to the airport as well.
First setback was at check-in where I was told I still had money owing on the 3 rooms which I had paid in full several months earlier. Staff, with a few exceptions, were not all that attentive or engaging. No program listed as to upcoming fiestas or other evening activities. Overall, okay but did not feel like a 'guest' - simply someone who had booked a place to stay.
