More Staff than Guests

Posted Apr 18, 2016
Pros: The rooms was large with great views.
Cons: One of our party got food poisoning from their upscale Japanese Restaurant; therefore better food hygiene technique when dealing with raw fish.
Location: 8 peso quick, local bus into Old Puerto Vallarta offered local street wandering and good restaurants.
Lovely location with plenty of swimming and relaxing options.

Doesn't quite cross the finish line.

The resort itself is nice, but service has considerable room for improvement.

Quick getaway

Posted Apr 17, 2016
We booked our trip last minute and feel that we really lucked out on finding this resort. It's located perfectly between the ocean and the jungle with views from the entire resort. It was a very relaxing and enjoyable stay. The rooms was larger then expected and the balcony and views can not be beat. We loved the staff and felt very well taken care of throughout our stay. With that said there was one thing i did not like about this "hotel" when we checked in we were given a brief talk about the property from our personal concierge. She mentioned that there was a discount card you could get it you took a tour of the newest adult only building. We were interested in seeing the other rooms so we agreed to have a look and thought why not get some money off our food and beverage. We had no idea this was a timeshare type property and not a hotel. We were surprised when the "tour" was really a sales pitch for their vacation club. It wasted 2.5 hours of our 2 day stay and left me very confused and agitated. I would NOT say that the discount was worth it. The concierge was deceiving in her pitch and we did not even get to see the new building she promised!!

Excellent quiet location

Posted Apr 11, 2016
This was our first visit to Puerto Vallarta and we did not know what to expect. So glad we chose this hotel what a beautiful condo hotel. We originally received a room without a view so the next day I went down and asked for a view room which they did and wow what a difference. We were on the 6th floor panorama view with a hot tub on the deck and a huge master big kitchen and living room plus we had a room for our kids they each got their own queen size bed. We also did the all inclusive which gave us all our meal and alcohol. The food was pretty good the drinks were great. All in all we will be back as we had one of the best vacations ever.

That's my 3th trip to Garza Blanca.....we always love it. People still remember us...feels like at home. Some tips....do not be afraid to take a bus to the city ,only 50 cents one way.....its very safe...beside many people in the city speak English...Americans walking the streets...you can go shopping and drink margarita for only 30 pesos instead 150 at the resort...food a lot cheaper if you want to save money. If you need more peace don't travel at the time of kids vacations will be crowdie. Again ask for Jose if you visit Japanese restaurant and say hello to Oswaldo and Angel at the Panoramica pool they will do anything for you. Have a good time...best place for the money...best view I ever seen in my life.

5 star service at a beautiful resort!

Posted Mar 31, 2016
Pros: Everything! The rooms, food, drinks, views, gardens, trolly, pools, activities, staff. We loved the 160 steps to our room in the tower. Great workout!
Cons: Wifi should be free in lobby, in the very least. Live music in the bars at night would be great. Not much to do at night which we didn't mind.
Location: 40 minutes from airport and 10 minute cab ride to old town Vallarta.
Garza was wonderful. The service by every staff member was incredible. Food and drinks were the best we've had on an all inclusive plan. Fresh and well-prepared. Craft cocktails. We enjoyed kayaking, paddle-boarding, a hike to the waterfall and the use of the amazing gym at the Hotel. It was also helpful that they had a 24 hr doctor at the resort as our daughter got very ill on the last day. Sushi at Hiroshi was off the charts. Steak house was great too. We had fantastic lunches by the pool every day too. Very relaxing place.

All-Inclusive, four day vacation.

Posted Mar 31, 2016 on Hotels
My husband and I stayed at Garza Blanca for four days this past week. The resort was very well kept and the pools and pool areas were very clean. We spent most of our time lounging poolside and in the pools, which was very enjoyable. The all inclusive is the way to go, by the way - even if you don't eat much (my husband and I don't), the prices are so ridiculous that you'll pay more if you don't do the all inclusive. The server staff was very nice and upbeat at all of the locations that we ate around the resort. At the airport, we were suckered into talking to a rep about Garza Blanca for 20 minutes and given an offer to attend a 75 minute breakfast and presentation the next morning. I'll cut the story short- we obliged, and the breakfast/presentation/sales pitch ended up being over 2 hours long, with the sales people (trying to sell us a time share) getting pushier and insistent with each minute that passed. It was not an enjoyable way to spend 2+ hours of our very short vacation. **HOWEVER, we voluntarily attended this breakfast because as a thank you gift, we were told ahead of time that we would both (my husband and I) a massage treatment at their spa, the retail value of which was very high** Not bad for two hours of sitting and schmoozing.
