Decent hotel for the money and close to everything

Good little hotel. Close to Malacon, shopping, restaurants, bars etc. Staff is friendly. A bit noisy as sound tends to echo in halls. Windows open to a somewhat busy street. Room is basic, clean & airconditioning and a ceiling fan. There's coffee, cut up papaya and melon with toast in morning. Wifi good only in lobby. Good value for $$.

2 Week Getaway in January

My wife and I chose the Hotel Mocali based solely on the reviews and we were absolutely delighted with our stay. Located in the 'old town', 2 blocks from the main drag and another block to the beach, we were within walking distance from just about anything that we wanted to see or do downtown. Being able to walk down to the beach, drop back to the hotel for a shower then go out for lunch, return for a quick nap and go out again to shop or stroll was a huge plus. It really did feel like our 'home' in PV as advertised. The hotel is immaculately clean! I could almost check the time by looking at the reflection of the wall clock on the literally spotless white tiled floor in the lobby. The staff took great pride in this regard, always sweeping and fussing over the smallest detail. They actually scrubbed the sidewalk in front of the main entrance with soap and water daily. Being right downtown we felt very secure. There's a man behind the lobby counter all night so we could come and go at any time we pleased without a concern in the world. With a simple breakfast (good coffee, fresh fruit and toast) we were good to go. Or sometimes for a little exercise beforehand I'd walk 3 blocks and buy fresh pastries to bring back to compliment our breakfast. What a delight! Not much English spoken but we had fun in broken (tortured, actually) Spanish and in the end all was understood.

Nice, modest hotel, well maintained.

Staff were the best quality of this hotel. It was spotlessly clean and comfortable. Nice, quiet roof top deck to enjoy morning coffee or read a book. Short walk to a decent beach. Good value for the money. Lots of taco stands nearby. It's definitely a "2 star" and surrounded by local Mexican homes and businesses. If you want all-inclusive or higher end ammenities, this is not the place to stay.

Central location, economic and clean

Pros: Walking distance from el malecon, economic.
Cons: Try to have the rooms ready.
It was disappointing that the check in was supposed to be at 3:00 but my room was not ready. I already had a stressful flight and wished my room was ready on time especially when they knew I was waiting for it since 1:00. Other than that I had a comfortable room.

Inexpensive stay in downtown Puerto Vallarta.

I visited PV with my two friends this summer and needed something inexpensive and clean. This place was perfect because it was downtown and away from all the tourist hotels. All we needed was a place that had AC, clean, comfortable, and close to great hole in the wall restaurants and this place was perfect. Nothing fancy but the staff was awesome and they even provided a simple breakfast with fruit, toast, and coffee. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone looking to stay away from all the tourist traffic and looking for a simple spot. We came home super late a few times and the walk home was fine. Louis was very helpful!! Was able to do a lot more activities due to saving money on the hotel stay.

Small and Basic w/ A/C

Pros: location, price, staff, A/C
Cons: If you are looking for a luxury hotel, this just gives the basics
We got the economic room which is a small room with a bed for 2 with A/C. We were there to explore so all we needed was a inexpensive place to sleep with out being boiling hot. So it was perfect for what we needed. Bathroom was good. Staff were great. Breakfast was a plate of fresh fruit and toast, a little something to start the day. Nice terrace on the top roof to look over the area. It gave us a good view of a lightning storm. They had a safe on the main floor where we put our passports. It was a good place to stay and super close to down town and the water front.

The staff was great but spoke very little English. it's a great value for the money but it's very minimalist. it's a bit loud but it's also in the heart of downtown so you can walk nearly everywhere
