Traveling solo, I wanted to be close to the action rather than at a beach resort outside of town. The hotel is located in the heart of the Zona Romantica, steps away from great restaurants, bars, coffee houses, shops, art galleries, etc. The neighborhood is full of tourists and expats so most of the businesses are up to an international standard of quality. The beach is two blocks away and the hotel can provide a beach towel for a 200 pesos deposit. The staff were wonderful. Most people in the hotel and the neighborhood spoke English, so I was able to get around with my broken Spanish. The wi-fi was free and fast. Some of the furniture and fixtures could have been better maintained, but overall the room was very functional, especially considering the price. The city bus terminal is one block away. This is a great way to get around since most places in the city are along one main drag. I used the bus to get to and from the airport for the equivalent of 35 cents each way at today's exchange rate.
