Great hotel 1 block from MaleconPosted Nov 11, 2015
We had an awesome experience for one night at the Rio. Spacious room with bar fridge and possible cooking capabilities. Overlooked a busy street with barely a view to the ocean. Was a little noisy but no problems. Staff was perfect, restaurant was tasty and stylish. Affordable and had a nice overall feel. Love it.

Basic hotel close to the beachPosted Oct 11, 2015
If you want a decently located hotel in downtown Puerto Vallarta that covers the basics, this works. It is two minutes from the beach and the Malecon Boardwalk, right next to the artisan mercado, and very close to public transit. Our room was overlooking Los Morelos, the main road, and busses passed constantly, which was actually quite loud. The reception and cleaning staff were friendly and helpful, offering suggestions and taking the time to chat with us. We speak Spanish, so that helped, but the front desk staff seemed pretty able in English, too, from what I heard. We noticed a Sanitation warning posted on the front window, so they must have been in violation in some areas. The rooms are basic; the mattresses were hard, the pillows not very comfortable, there were only thin white sheets and a thin blanket for bedding. We had one double bed and one twin for three people. Our parents' room had a double plus a futon; they also has a kitchenette. The first room we were assigned smelled musty, so we asked for a different room. The second room smelled fine, but we noticed several yellow stains on the sheets, which we were told were bleach stains and were assured the sheets were clean. At least this made it easy to see that they changed the sheets daily. Our air conditioning worked, though it was fairly loud Our parents' air conditioning broke, but they fixed it the next day. The pool area is small but fine for a quick dip; from 1:00 to 7:00, they had two-for-one happy hour.

HOTEL CERCA DE LA PLAYA,PUNTOS DE INTERES CERCAPosted Sep 14, 2015
Pros: LA COMIDA Y LA CERCANIA DE TODO
Cons: EL QUE TENGAN CAMASTROS CERCA DE LA ALBERCA, SOLO TIENEN SILLAS Y MESAS
Location: ESTAN TODOS LOS BARES, RESTAURANTES, MERCADOS. HAY DE VARIOS PRECIOS Y NO NECESITAS TRANSPORTE.
EL HOTEL CON HABITACIONES COMODAS, CONVIENE MUCHO RESERVAR POR INTERNET TE AHORRAS COMO EL 50%, EL RESTAURANTE RIQUISIMO ES ALGO CARO PERO VALE LA PENA.

Only good part is friendly Staff.Posted Sep 11, 2015
Pros: Friendly staff, good exchange rates.
Cons: Clean the rooms properly, and make it so you can keep the AC running in the room!
Location: Location was directly off of the boardwalk, close to almost everything.
The staff was very friendly, and the exchange rate the hotel offered was awesome. But, thats about where the good ends. You have to be IN your room in order to have A.C. running. The room had a ton of ants. Everywhere. The Wi-Fi only works if you are in the lobby.

Still no WiFi service in rooms.Posted Sep 8, 2015
Cons: WiFi service is not good in the rooms. I was not able to connect, at all. I would have had to go down to the patio cafe to connect.
Location: Malecon, Artisan shops, all within walking distance. Very convenient. Buses run directly in front of hotel and one block behind the hotel.
This is a pleasant, clean hotel. Very good location and one block to the Malecon (boardwalk) and lots of shops. My room was on the third floor and there is no elevator. I am a disabled senior and had difficulty with the stairs and towing my bags up the stairs. In the future, I will probably stay somewhere else, equally inexpensive.
