Not a luxury resort

Posted Feb 13, 2017
Pros: Rooms clean and updated
Cons: Do not allow smoking, improve food and alcohol, throw away old beach chairs
beach chairs are uncomfortable and old. Room towels are old and rough. Service is just ok. Buffet offers same food every day. Beach bar offers diluted drinks and cheap alcohol. If you do not have a beach club membership or VIP service really sucks. Smoking allowed, so people smoked everywhere. Very disappointing. La Pergola restaurant offered decent dinner and service. Rooms were good and cleaned. Hair dryer was a joke, barely working and weak. Shampoo offered horrible. I regret not bringing my own.

Best family fun environment/amazing hospitality!

Posted Feb 2, 2017
Our stay at Marival was definitely one to remember... we already can't wait to go back! The kids club was far above and beyond my expectations. The activities staff were amazing as well. So many personal touches that made this vacation bar none- one of our best ones yet.

All inclusive on the beach

Posted Feb 1, 2017
Pros: The location is great! Half way between Puerto Vallarta (big city) and Bucerias (quaint fishing village with great restaurants)
Cons: The coffee could be improved. I drink decaf and all the resort offers is freeze dried packets that get mixed with water that is not hot enough
Location: it's an easy and scenic walk to Paradise Village (shops, groceries, Starbucks!!) if you go by street, but great beach walks either direction as well.
This was our 2nd vacation at Marival, We had a fabulous time 3 years ago and were looking forward to the return trip. We upgraded to a one bedroom suite which is very large with 2 bathrooms. The room was in need of an update and the sofa was in bad condition but two days later we returned from the beach to find a brand new sofa (we had not complained about the first one) so it appears updates are in progress. Food: the "nice" restaurants, which are only open for dinner and have a dress code are very, very good. Make sure you have a reservation! The casual restaurants are ok for breakfast and snacks but nothing special. Staff: everyone is friendly, hardworking, well-trained and helpful. Love the staff! Atmosphere: Great place to bring the kids and kick back while they play in the oversized kid pool area. We are in our 50s and prefer the quiet adult pool or the beach but love watching the little kids go down the water slide.

Cons: Add pickle ball lines to the tennis court or courts. And offer pickle ball as an activity. It is a growing sport and can be played by all ages.
Location: Great beach. You can ride pedal bikes into Bucerias. Very nice pools. Take the public transportation to downtown P.V. Staff very helpful with info.
Disappointed in the location of our room - a lot of noise at night because of the entertainment theatre and the Club lobby. Room was very clean. Food was good and plentiful. It is important to book your restaurant reservations as soon as you arrive at hotel. Hotel should consider adding pickle ball lines to their tennis courts and offer pickle ball as an activity option. The tennis courts were empty most of the time. Pickle ball is a growing sport. Be the first hotel in Puerto Vallarta to offer this option!! Pedal bikes were in good shape. Beach was wonderful and you can walk for miles. Would have liked some quiet, relaxing music around the adult pool, instead there was no music. Would consider staying here again Very family oriented.

Beautiful Beach Hotel.

Posted Jan 22, 2017
Pros: Choice of foods and the beautiful beach.
Cons: Rooms need new beds and they smell musty.
Nice hotel on a beautiful beach. Rooms were clean but could use some updating, beds were very hard and rooms smelled musty, walls were thin had to complain about neighbor playing loud music nightly. Food was excellent, you will never go hungry. Staff was very friendly and helpful.

large family wedding

Posted Jan 14, 2017
Pros: staff was friendly, appreciated tips but didn't come across as resentful if we didn't tip on every occasion. very clean overall.
Cons: the main buffet. Lunch was quite tasty, lots of fresh salads and fruit. Breakfast and dinners both seemed institutional food.
Location: great walking beach.
Most family members booked through the couples travel planner, we however booked on this site. Accommodations were not as pleasing as those offered to our family members even though same level of accommodation was secured Apparently the agencies book up the nicer rooms. We were initially offered a room in the Club building....older, and worn down. Bathroom was in need of TLC. huge lumps of caulking on all equipment. just a unkept feel to the place in general. When we spoke to front desk about it they explained that the agencies tend to book all the nicer rooms that are newer and renovated and the discount web sites pick up the remainder. They were gracious enough to move us to another block of rooms that was same style but much cleaner, newer and generally better looked after. however those that booked through the agency received tequila, turn down service and fresh linens. none of which we rec'd though the room class was the same. Upon inquiring the price point was negligible whether you booked through the agency or a discount site. Next time we will do the agency to secure a decent room for same $ plus those extras and what we would consider normally service...fresh towels and linens at least twice in the week.

Nice hotel for the price,

Posted Jan 5, 2017
My family just got back from this vacation yesterday and overall I would say we enjoyed ourselves. We are fortunate enough to be seasoned travelers and been to about seven or eight all-inclusive's around the Caribbean in the last 10 years. The pros of this hotel are definitely it's a Beach location, pools and grounds. The cons are their food is just all right, their drinks are horrible and the rooms are pretty basic. Also at the check in procedure requires you sit down with somebody to get your wristbands, then the person proceeds to hound you into having a 2 hour breakfast with them tomorrow morning in order to talk about a timeshare. Another thing we learned is that there is a VIP area to the hotel that charges 35 additional dollars per person with kids being free for much better alcohol, food and beach service. We spent the rest of our vacation there just b/c the main pool bars are usually pretty crowded and the drinks are nothing but corn syrup with water down alcohol in them. Also like most all inclusive resorts unless you do VIP you better be ready to go down at seven in the morning with your towels to find a chair on the beach or the pool area. This is definitely a very kid friendly resort and I probably would not recommend it to honeymooners or couples that want some peace and quiet. The location is in the hotel zone area and right there on the beach. Overall it's a nice hotel they just need to improve their food and drink without making customers upgrade

Dear guest, We would like to thank you for sharing you experience with us. We would like to specify that the VIP Beach Club is a special area designated for our Marival Residences' guests, since this sister resort is locates 3 min. away. But in case a Marival Resort & Suites guest wishes to use the area, it is accesible for the price you mentioned. We are sorry you found the quality of wine and food less than satisfactory during your most recent stay with us and we will take your feedback into consideration and have transmitted your concerns to our Food & Beverages Manager, who will follow up. We welcome any opportunity to improve. Your feedback is the foundation for our improvement and we appreciate you bringing this matter to our attention. We hope to have the oportunity of receiving you again so you can enjoy the vacations you deserve. Warm regards,

Nice resort, family friendly a lot of activities.

Posted Jan 3, 2017
Pros: The team of animators did a great job!
Cons: Bathrooms are not practical: doors are almost see through and don't lock. Not very convenient when you are with kids.
Location: The location is great. Many different activities around; Dolphin Adventure is a must:)
Overall it was a very good experience. The only thing we did not like was restaurant reservations - not worth it! The service is slow and the food is not that great. Everything else was great!

Cons: The latest bar hours is midnight which is disappointing for people used to a 2:00 AM or after bar close. Earliest bar opens at 11:00 AM too.
This was my second time at the Marival. Last time was about 12 years ago. They have made some great renovations and the food was very good. The bar hours are much shorter so it takes time getting used to what is open and when.
