Average Accommodations

Posted Jan 13, 2017
Pros: It's close to downtown and easy to reach by the bus.
Cons: The rooms had an odor. It was like a musty odor that was very prevalent.
The Preferred Rooms at Now Amber are not the same as the Preferred Rooms at Now Jade. The rooms at Now Jade are better but do cost more. Now Amber was fine but I ended up paying more to upgrade to Secrets. Both Now Amber and Secrets shared the same restaurants. The restaurants were fine. Try to avoid the Japanese restaurant as the food is too salty to eat. There are better options on site. The staff was very accommodating. I was their to celebrate my mother's birthday and the staff helped me to purchase flowers that were delivered to her room. All was fine until we tried to checked out and my mom had a room charge of for photos she supposedly took. We had to wait for a staff person from the photo area to come to the reception with the receipt of the person that actually took the pictures to verify that it wasn't my mother. The whole ordeal was embarrassing as we were made to feel that my mother had actually took the photos and was trying to leave without paying.

Lovely property!

Posted Jan 10, 2017
Pros: The cleanliness of the grounds and the way they transformed the pool area for an amazing New Years Eve celebration.
Cons: The smell in the rooms, the pillows and the sheets.
Location: We enjoyed a day in Puerto Vallarta and a private boat cruise.
Our one week vacation was, for the most part very good. The check-in was lovely with a cold glass of sparkling wine and cool cloths to wipe our hands and faces. The staff was excellent during check-in. The first impression of the lobby and grounds was great! Our room, while spacious with a great view was very smelly. The room smelled musty when we arrived and it never got better. The sheets are sub-par and the pillows are awful. The restaurants are pretty good. The buffet was good with a good selection of items. The service by the pool was excellent. In particular, Omar and Carlos were amazing!

Great all inclusive resort, directly on the beach.

Posted Jan 7, 2017
Great resort with lots to do at the pools (3) and the beach for the kids and adults. Great food and drinks with variety for both. WONDERFUL New Year's Eve party/dinner with a fantastic buffet (different from and exceeding the resort all inclusive meals/restaurants) and great entertainment/show during dinner. After dinner, party on the beach with a great band, fireworks and dance floor! Overall great vacation and we would go back next year!

Disappointed

Posted Jan 5, 2017
Two things disturbed us. First, when we checked in, we were given a sales pitch for their vacation club. That's not how we wanted to start our vacation. When we tried to use our $200 hotel credit, we found out it was all broken up into $10, $20 and $40 credits AND were not for manicure or pedicure. TOTAL RIPOFF.

Nice Hotel, but not worth the price they charge

Posted Jan 4, 2017
Too expensive for what they offer. Buffet is called international Carnival, but all they had for the most time was Mexican food. They had a pasta section, but that was good if you want to eat pasta or spaghetti. Other than that some steak or fish and that was it. NO real taste of international cuisine.

Great hotel, Great location

Posted Dec 29, 2016
Pros: Mostly everything! The views, the food! The security! The swim out pool!!!
Cons: structural damage needs to be repaired before any guest is allowed to check into that particular room
Location: The location is close to everything!! Downtown Puerto Vallarta, neighborhoods, airport, marina, THE NEW MALL!
The hotel is very modern, some flaws noted e.g. tear in the screen door, sliding bathroom doors wouldn't stay closed the first 2 days and one of the pieces of wood was broken on the shutter style bathroom sliding doors. However the hotel itself had everything you could want, the rooms were spacious, and overall clean, I loved the fact that they left incense in the rooms when cleaning them daily and when we ran out we just asked for more. We had the swim out room that was awesome, my 10 year old didn't have to be escorted to the beach or the hotel pool after a long day in downtown Puerto Vallarta!! I just sat in the lounger and watched her in the pool till she was tired. They have maybe 5 or 6 restaurants onsite and room service available, the food was delicious!!. They have a kids club that is very organized and kid friendly, the kids have their own little resort. They have shows right on the resort, they were nice. The beach was right there, no street to cross to get to the beach, they have it where you can have a nice intimate candle lit dinner on the beach. I felt safe there, no one could just walk up to the resort, they had to pass the guys at the gate!!! This is the place to go if you can get past the minor cosmetic challenges

Introduction and pushyness

Posted Dec 28, 2016
We enjoyed our stay at Amber but I think we could have enjoyed it more if either the hotel or Expedia had mentioned something about the secret section. We would have preferred to stay on the Secret section since it was only me and my wife and it was our anniversary. According to the hotel staff it would even cost us less to stay on that side around the time we were there. So we paid more and we stayed on the side that families with a bunch of kids were staying. Also the pushyness and somewhat the rudness of one of the managers to convince us to go to their Time share presentation. We went there for pleasure not business. Thanks so much.
