Excellent Staff, Food, Rooms, Activities, A+++++

Posted May 24, 2017
Pros: Everything
Cons: Really they did a fantastic job, GM very hands on, saw him often walking around "checking on things", he has a great Staff.
Location: Can walk (if you so choose), Boardwalk area has lots of good shopping, Church- Our Lady Guadalupe very nice to see, lots to see and do
Probably one of our best vacations ever, fantastic deal at the All Inclusive Now Amber, adjacent to the Secrets (Adults Only) All inclusive- the staff is unbelievably friendly, the food was great- highly suggest the rack of Lamb at the French Restaurant, the drinks very good, rooms very good, pool areas were excellent, beach is just so-so, rocky and not the pristine sand beaches some areas have- but not a deterrent at all. Definitely plan on returning, yes, did take the Vacation Club talk, but not high pressure in Sales, they did a nice job! Snorkeling was good with day excursions to Animas Beach area and Mariatas (sorry for spellings if wrong) Island. Activity crew keeps you as active as you would want to be, or just lounge around and relax in the sun.

Bait and Switch

Posted May 1, 2017
Pros: It is very picturesque. Even the view from the back side of the hotel towards the Sierra Madras is impressive.
Cons: We had friends who were there several years ago and said it was much better then.
Location: We took a bus ride to Sayulita. It was beautiful. I would have stayed there in a heartbeat over where we were. Also we walked to town which was nice
You only have access to HALF of the resort. The website is misleading. The south half of the resort is only for the "Secrets" guests. The first day on the beach, we laid out our towels and were asked to leave. If you want access to the other half, you have to sit through a 90 minute time share pitch or pay an extra $110 per day for access. The margaritas (in fact most every drink except the mango daiquiris) were horrible and watered down. Almost every day, they cordoned off areas for weddings further limiting access to the resort. The food was tasteless. All of the restaurants are closed from noon (when breakfast ends) until 1pm which is when lunch starts. The one good meal we had was at the French restaurant, but they would only allow us to eat there (on the restricted side) if we agreed to buy a bottle of Kendall Jackson for $100. It felt like we were being haggled in Tijuana. At most "all inclusives" the staff refuses and is not allowed tips. Here, people tipped which kind of defeats the purpose of an all inclusive. It felt like you get there and then they tried to squeeze more money out of you. The beach was pretty, but you can't get in the water beyond your knees because the surf is very violent. We only saw about a dozen people actually swimming in the week we were there. Very disappointing.

Nice hotel, horrible beach, dogs tied up

Posted Apr 28, 2017
Pros: Attractive Hotel. Solid Staff. Pleasant. Helpful. Aim to please. Met lots of wonderful couples and families.
Cons: Musty odor really overpowering in the rooms Dogs tied up very disturbing and depressing
Location: Very urban. The hotel sits behind a big gate. go to the beach (via taxi)
Overall - we had a nice holiday once we accepted the frustrations with staying at this property. Hotel Staff - like all the hotels we have stayed at in Mexico - nice, friendly, capable and eager to serve! Food - Food very average. There are many options, heavy on meat/pork/fish salads. If you are a vegetarian you will find very little to eat. Hotel facility - hotel is lobby is beautiful and the restaurants are basic looking. rooms are appealing and clean but have a very very strong musty odor (common problems with all the rooms, you can hear people talking about it). Many guests request a dehumidifier which take lots of water away but unfortunately not the odor. The reason why I would not recommend this property is because you cannot walk the beach. You can see the water but the beach does not extend for miles, maybe 500 feet in either direction. Furthermore, the beach is rocky and the rocks fly around under water and hit you in the legs. Not pleasant or easy to swim, a real bummer for the entire family. As I mentioned you can walk a few hundred feet and next to the hotel is an unfinished hotel. And to keep people away they have "stationed tied up dogs" along the property. Sad, sad and disturbing. I wish the hotel would work with the City to figure out a better security approach. The dogs bark and go to the end of their chain. Horrible, a poor reflection on the tourism industry, the neighborhood. I am sure Amber Now could influence the City for a better outcome.

Nice hotel right on the beach.

Posted Apr 24, 2017
I think this place has done a good job, the hotel is nice as well as the location right on the water and only a 15 minute drive from the airport. The staff works hard and are very friendly. The hotel, pools, and the grounds are all very well cared for. I was impressed by the staff and how attentive they were. I enjoyed the all inclusive, no need to deal with carrying your wallet or money and the food was very good quality as well as with the bars. There are many choices of hotels in P V and I spent a bit of time researching. But I was very happy with choosing the Now Amber and would definitely recommend it to anyone. Malcolm

Review of Secrets, adjacent to Now Amber

Posted Apr 17, 2017
Pros: We liked the variety of things to do. The food and staff were excellent.
Cons: Room directory was incomplete and the TV remote was missing. The AC needed to be kept down as the room was a little dank at first but went away.
Location: We did a Hidden Mexico excursion with Vallarta Adventures and it was excellent. Taking a cab downtown was easy.
When we checked in, we were offered the same room at no additional cost at Secrets, the adults only hotel connected to Now Amber. I had not considered Secrets as my daughter is not 21 but is 18. This turned out to be perfect for us. We both loved the swim out room and would reserve the room type again. The staff were super personable and so much fun! Just like a cruise ship, we got a schedule of the next day's events along with turn-down service every evening. Overall, Secrets exceeded our expectations. They will invite you to attend a vacation club presentation and give you some discounts and other enticements to attend but I declined and no one bugged me about it.

Good time

Posted Apr 9, 2017
This was our first time in this resort. It's very nice looking. I love the openess in the lobby and rooms. The food was decent. We loved the french and Japanese restaurant. I did hear that the tequila wagon was very expense. I heard it was 50 american dollars for 1 drink. I thought that was ridiculous. The only thing that turned me off was getting out off airport and the timeshare people attack you... one girl in particular got upset with me because i told her i wasn't interested. She claimed she wasn't in time shares but the 3rd thing out of her mouth wad did we exchange out dollars yet. Are u kidding! I'm exhausted from flight i just want to get to hotel...

Wonderful grounds/Great staff

Posted Apr 3, 2017
Pros: The views, pools, staff and entertainment were amazing and fun. We were there for a wedding and the food was amazing for that.
Cons: Consistent menu and what was served/ avoid guests wait time , repairs to the room that are needed so guest's have a better experience and impression
Location: Malecon boardwalk, shopping, excursion tours (zip lining, fishing, ATV). Great food not more that a 15 min taxi ride or within walking distance.
This is a great resort and we felt like we were in paradise but there were some little things that would have made it perfect. Jacuzzi tub did not work completely, Breakfast options were not always available and limited. The curtains in the room where broken and just hanging halfway as well as we had a 3 hour dinner because there was a large party on the upper level of the restaurant and the menu options were not consistent or there were foods that were not in season and the waiter discouraged that item. Long waits for restaurants and the room service menu did not match what the kitchen had available.

This is paradise with a few disappointments

Posted Mar 31, 2017
The staff and grounds are a perfect 10 and everyone was very attentive to whatever was needed. During our trip we agreed that there seemed to be little things that could be improved on. The jacuzzi tub didn't work properly, restaurant waits and a 3 hour dinner as the kitchen was swamped from a party on the upper level. Food that was listed on the room service menu was not all available and this was the case in two restaurants that food was out of season. It was difficult to find pool seating and towels. The nightly entertainment was great ranging from shows to singers/bands in the lounge area.

Great Hotel

Posted Mar 29, 2017
Great hotel on the beach and close to town. The food was good and the rooms always clean. Staff though was always nice. One thing I would say is if you buy anything extra like the tequila in the Mexican restaurant make sure you keep the receipt so you can double check it when you leave.
