Excellent Adults Only

Pros: The staff, especially Benigno and Nirvana was superlative. It is a good resort for middle aged to older couples. No children running around.
Cons: The restaurant Himitsu is average, this is the Japanese restaurant. The breakfast at the Market Cafe is average.
Location: Secrets is 20 minutes from the airport andabout ten minutes from the malencon district. Very good local restaurants, Pipi's and La Lagostina Feliz.
My wife and I stayed in the preferred club part of the resort. Service was excellent, staff were wonderful, and the facilities were top notch. Skip the Mexican Festival, the food is very average. Capers Italian restaurant was exceptional, as was the French restaurant, Bourdeaux. The resort is very clean and the rooms are very comfortable.

Convenient and Easy!

Pros: So easy to stay at and incredibly relaxing!
The hotel is 15 minutes by car from the airport and is a short walk to the old town and the beach promenade. The resort is right on the beach and we went to sleep each night listening to the sound of the waves. Lots of lounge chairs, excellent staff and the food in the restaurants is fabulous.! Everyone is so friendly and helpful. For those who love tennis, we highly recommend the tennis pro, Salvador. Excellent coach and very reasonable rate. We also visited the spa -highly recommend the massage!

First ever trip to PV, or Mexico for that matter so I do not have anything to compare this resort to, however I did speak to some other guests who have travelled to Mexico many times and they really like Secrets and have stayed there several times. I must say that the resort was excellent. The staff were all super friendly which helped create a fun, relaxing atmosphere. There are a lot of options for the restaurants. Seafood, Pan Asian, French, Italian, Mexican and a buffet that we used mostly for breakfast and lunch for convenience. The resort has to halves. Secrets on one side for adults, and Now on the other which is more family oriented. You are free to come and go as you please between the 2 sides although I'm not sure the same applies to children as I don't remember seeing any kids on the Secrets side. I thought the setup was perfect. Each side has several pools and throughout the day there are many organized activities to take part in if you wish. The beach was nice with paddle boards and kayaks available but it was not suitable for surfing or boogie boarding. The only negative was an odor in our room that we think was something to do with the air conditioning. We turned it off and it seemed to dissipate somewhat and we were quite comfortable without it. Some other people we met said they had the same issue. We told the staff, but who knows if it will be dealt with tho judging by the efforts they make to keep the whole place well maintained and clean, I'm hopeful.

Excellent Staff & Service

Pros: The Service.
Cons: Musty smell in the room and the constant parade of vendors along the beach.
Location: The Malacon (Boardwalk) was a good experience.
The staff is as good as you can get. Food was very good, beach service was excellent (Carlos, Jorge, and Manoulo). Jacqueline at the Marketplace was great! Daniel & Benny in the preferred lounge were very good. Only negative was the constant parade of vendors along the beach. A shake of the head was all that was needed, but the parade keeps coming. Beach is rocky as you enter the water. The nighttime entertainment, live music in the lobby, was very good.

The food at this resort left a lot to be desired. The room service menu was very limited. Had multiple issues with service at the restaurants. It seemed as if they were short staffed. Also, difficult to find clean towels at the pool area after noon. It wasn't a bad resort, our stay was just plagued by a significant number of little issues that added up to an annoyance.

Hotel is beautiful

Hotel is beautiful and feels brand new. We have stayed at all inclusive resorts before and this one is among the best. The room was exactly like the photos. The restaurants were nice and the staff was very helpful. Highlights for us were: the spa treatment with hydrotherapy, easy walk to pools and beaches, and balcony Jacuzzi bath. The lobby/patio was absolutely gorgeous!! The view is completely spectacular and we always found a spot to lounge and enjoy the view. We were celebrating our anniversary and they really made it special - sending flowers/champagne and decorating our room with rose petals. Lowlights: 1. Difficult to get reservations for Teppenyaki table. We checked a couple of times and were toled they were continually booked. When we asked to call, they were able to fit us in only if we bought a bottle of wine. We accepted and would likely have purchased a bottle anyway...was not the best feeling to have this be a negotiation. The food and show were great, but much shorter than at other resorts we have visited. We felt a bit rushed out. Other visitors mentioned to us feeling upset/anxiety over the timeshare sales pitch. We personally felt that we had a choice to attend and felt that the incentive to attend was worth it. (Also, my husband enjoys chatting with salespeople.) A couple of people we talked to were quite upset and one person mentioned crying because they felt so bad.

Pros: Everything !
Cons: Lighting in tub and sink area.
Loved our stay at Secrets,from our arrival to our leaving,everyone was very helpful,friendly,courteous,and always wanting to be of assistance.The one problem for me was the temperture of the room was to cold, also the lighting in the area of the sinks was to dim,but a small inconvenience,in light of all the positive. We have already recommended you resort to family members.Thank you for your part in creating memories for us.

Great overall experience

From check in, on, we had great time. Helpful courteous staff who remembered us from previous stay and treated us like family . All inclusive is great, restaurants each had quality meals and great customer service. Plan to return next year

Beautiful hotel on the beach

This was our 3rd time to this resort in Puerto Vallarta and will be returning! The hotel is beautiful and comfortable and the staff so friendly! After 3 years, many are family to us!

Awesome hotel with beach view.

Pros: Food, view, ocean sounds, bar. No wrist bracelets for all-inclusive. Restaurants.
Cons: Thai food at the pan-Asian restaurant. Vegetarian options (okay but not great). Wifi speeds.
Stayed here before. Excellent all around. Great good, view, ocean sounds, bar. No wrist bracelets for all-inclusive. Great Restaurants. Wifi coverage is great, but the speed is slow.
