Not bad for the price

Pros: The staff was very friendly, morning coffee was provided in the lobby, the mattresses were very firm, the hotel provides bottled water in your room
Cons: It could be a bit cleaner (see above).
Location: Great location, near restaurants and bars, massage spas. Also near bus routes, including to and from the airport. A 10-minute walk to the beach
This hotel certainly isn't the Four Seasons, but it isn't bad for the price. It's a few blocks from the beach but it's near many good "off the beaten path" restaurants and bars. It has no elevator, so if that is an issue, be sure to request a room on the ground floor. It has a very nice rooftop deck (5 flights up), with a great view overlooking the old town area. My room could have been a little cleaner--it had some black mold on the bathroom ceiling and LOTS of dirt on the ceiling fan blades. There is no hot water in the bathroom basin and you have to let the shower run a minute or two before the water heats up. It isn't very soundproof and there is a lot of early morning chatter in the hallway, so if you're a light sleeper, bring some earplugs.

Great stay

Pros: Cleanliness, location, Mexican decor and friendly staff. Reasonable rates
Cons: Mattress was on the hard side
Location: Great location if you like old town as we do, good food and drink close by. A bit of a walk to the Malacon but taxis and buses are close
We stayed 2 weeks and enjoyed our time there. Our room was cleaned daily by very nice ladies and the hotel is traditional Mexican and very budget friendly. Location was great, lots of good restaurants within walking range. The front desk staff were friendly, helpful and communicated well in English

No towel racks or shelf in bath. No hot water when needed. No inside door-latch. No chairs in room. Did not get room with balcony as promised. Very hard mattress. Poor TV reception. Wi-fi signal weak. Please return my money for the 9 days I did not use. Thanks, Joseph S. Cotruvo

No ac at all, only a old fan that was ready to break, considering the hot humid weather it was horrible, no bathroom amenities, you have to bring your own, your not near the beach as claimed you have to walk a good 15 min to get there, you are staying in the ghetto mixed with residents that live there, its an old building converted to a hotel and dont mind the cochroaches. , not your typical hotel, the tv was from the 90's and had to leave a deposit for the remote, you only got one towel, using the bathroom was a challenge because of the way it was designed with a wall literally in front of you, so if your skinny and not to tall you may have a chance, bed, pillow stains, worst hotel i ever stayed in,

We are very sorry that you experience in this Hotel was not to good. This is a Hotel own to a mexican family and has 35 years old. We are 5 blocks from the beach thats not a 15 minutes walking. When you reserve you can see the location. This is not a guetto neighborhood. If you can in January you will have a perfect weather not humid at all and will see how much tourist walk to this area.

Pros: The staff
Cons: Thermostat in A/C room, more frequent pest control, better maintenance on roof balcony,.
Location: Location is old downtown Vallarat, 4 blocks from beach, rustic and safe to walk.
Pleasant staff, extra money for A/C, no elevators, some bugs

A local's place, no frills, good, clean place.

Pros: It was very accessible & walking distance to mostly everything. Local's place & safe even late at night as mostly everyone knows their neighbors.
Cons: Fix the toilet seats, have the light switches cleaned & door knobs replaced, too dingy & worn. Warn guests about noise levels & make wifi stronger.
Location: Location is great, close to all & a lot of good places to eat where local's go. Explore & take the road less traveled to get a better perspective.
Check-in was a breeze, staff was nice & understood my fair amount of Spanish. I arrived 3pm just in time for check-in, the front staff gave me my key, no elevator, got up short stairs to 3rd floor to look for my room which unfortunately was not ready yet Still being cleaned. No biggie, I went up to the rooftop to survey the property & explore the hotel a bit. Went down a different flight of stairs & the front staff saw me & gasped thinking I got lost, told them no, but the room was not ready. After about 10mins it was so I went up & got unpacked & noticed, no towels, went down to ask for towel & front was surprised & didn't seem to believe me but gave me towel & everything was good. It was a really quaint & decent place to stay where all around were local's, I had a balcony room, no A/C but the weather was good enough for a celieng fan, if you're not used to humidity, go for the A/C room but I went on a decent month (April 14-18, 2016) day was warm & night got cool. If noise is a problem for you, don't get a balcony but some ear plugs & sleep aid, I was fine. Noise levels are loud at rush hours, after 11pm everything starts to mellow down but it's on a street route so some cars & bus sometimes pass by. No screens on the Windows but didn't have any issues w/ bugs or mosquitoes, used a light bug & mosquito repellant just to be safe. TV no remote but hardly even used it cause so many things to explore & do around. Good local food stalls around & very safe even late night.

Pros: It was simple and adequate but not too comfortable.
Cons: everything.
Location: It was not too far from good areas but we didn't like it.
Our room was above a smokey sports bar where expat gringos congregated.

Pros: location, and more important the staff
Cons: for the price, not much
Location: location = centro easy walk to beach, mercados, lots of food, transportation of all types at your finger tips
were here for short stay as part of our own tour de mexico. this is close to beach, mercados, and lots of eating places. you name it and it is close by. the price is reasonable and the rooms comfortable. the staff however made the stay for us as they are all very genuinely pleasant and friendly, some I believe are ex-esafatas (stewardesses) for some major airline. Very helpful to guide you towards what you are looking for.

The Staff really make your stay. Rosa is very helpful and is fluent in English but patient with attempts to speak Spanish. Luce Marie is also very helpful and offered to book us for Peurta Vallarta tours. They greet customers as friends.
