Worn but friendly small hotel. Mixed review.

Posted Apr 22, 2017
Just a short walk to the beach, set on a mixed residential and retail block. Fresh and tasty continental breakfast served in the courtyard. 116 Pulpito delivers food and is a great place for dinner. We stayed in a 1st floor king, and then in the penthouse. Rooms are clean but some fabrics and furnishings are worn and some are dirty. Staff is excellent and more than willing to help with minor problems. Penthouse is spacious and a breeze crosses through. Nice little balcony. Room AC and ceiling fans were appreciated. Up in the penthouse, an unpleasant odor persisted, suggesting a vent from the pipes below. Can only give a mixed review.

Great adults only hotel

Posted Apr 17, 2017
Pros: Location, staff, breakfast, cleanliness and friendly staff.
Location: Lots of great restaurents, beach and entertainment
Great stay close to beach,restaurents,entertainment,ect....Betsy and all staff were fantstic and extra friendly. Teri and I loved the charm of this place. Other than the construction noise close by (which is out the hotels control) this place was a great stay, especially for the cost. Thanks to all, see you in Jan. 2018. Jeff

Expensive, central location, hip interior

Nice & hip on the inside. A lot of street noise at night. There were small ants in the studio room I stayed in - seems like an expensive price compared to other similar hotels.

Great place. Friendly staff. Perfect location. Only complaint is that the beds are too firm. Otherwise I loved it. Will definitely be back!

You'll get a much better deal ealsewhere

Staff was nice and bed was comfortable but the hotel condition was horrible. Many things in disrepair: broken shutters on window, sloppily painted walls, etc. I had two friends in town that found much nicer places for the same price just blocks away.

CALL & VERIFY your reservation!

Posted Feb 13, 2017
Pros: Proximity to the beach
Cons: Breakfast options, cleaner pool
Small hotel within one block from the beach, feels like an old home that was transferred to a B&B. No elevators or bellmen, just a small adequate hotel. Breakfast is fruit, juice and toast, small pool, upper terrace is nice and airy. My rating of 2 stars is because I made the reservation about 2.5 months prior to my trip. About 3 weeks prior to my trip I got a call from Bernardo "apparently he's the manager", saying that they couldn't accommodate us for one night of our stay and that he'll find us another hotel to stay in. Even though the reservation went through and I paid for everything, there was one night "2nd night" that the hotel was fully booked. I decided to change the reservation and stay at another hotel then move back into this one, come to find out that the king bed suite I paid for was also not available, and I ended up with a 2 twin-bed suite on the first floor "110" And for all these disappointments, we got 2 free cocktails! No word from the manager, and no word from Expedia about the issue as well, since I called multiple times to get a resolution for this and what was offered is what I did on my own "find another hotel". No explanation as to how I received a reservation then somehow one night the hotel was fully booked!

Thank you for your feedback we value your opinion and it helps us improve our operation. I am aware that you were not informed immediately about overbooking issues with your initial reservation, and it took several weeks to inform you. We are looking into better internal auditing to prevent something like this from happening again. Winter 2016 - 2017 has been particularly busy for us and bookings have happened at a greater and faster rate than ususal with the strong US dollar. We only have 16 rooms, and sometimes we end up with overbookings. Most of the time we are able to manage to accommodate them, generally by giving free upgrades. In the event that we can't, we suggest canceling, or relocation to another hotel. In this case we were able to provide a room in the category of the reservation (a suite) after the customer changed his reservation dates. As he does mention though we provided him with a suite that did not have a King Size bed it had TWO FULL DOUBLE BEDS (1.40m wide which is almost as wide as a Queen Size Bed), not twin beds. NONE OF OUR ROOMS/SUITES HAVE TWIN BEDS, rooms generally have one King Size Bed, but two of our rooms have TWO FULL DOUBLE BEDS instead of the King Size Bed. Reservations in the order in which are received get placed in rooms with King Size Beds, this unfortunately was the very last room we had left when the reservation came in. It was not a last minute decision. We are very sorry that the information did not flow properly and that you feel that your questions did not meet an acceptable answer. We are developing a training session with reservations staff to assure that all of the information is provided to guests when presented with a situation similar to this, even if it seems redundant or overly explanatory, so that guests can make better informed decisions regarding their bookings.
