Disappointing

Pros: The proximity to the beach was good. The view from the property is pretty. Good amount of activities and water sports available. Great nightly shows.
Cons: Staff needs training, there is no consistency with information given. Rooms needs to be updated/repaired.
Location: Guest services helped with planning boogie/ATV excursions that was reasonably priced.
Stayed for a week with with a group of friends and family and each of us got inconsistent information. Reservations at restaurants were hard to get even though restaurants were empty throughout the night. Staff seems to have difficulty conversing in English and were at times rude. The property needs updating and rooms smelled like cigarette smoke. Changed room and in the new room, the refrigerator was not cold, air condition was not functioning properly, one of the bathroom sinks was clogged, bedding are old and stained, and toilet smelled like pee the whole time. And the food is mediocre.

Hotel was beautiful - but a few disappointments

Hotel is beautiful, but unfortunately good food and cleanliness just isn't enough for my husband and I. It's all about the experience a place gives you and this hotel needs work with their staff and service. Very few spoke English, and when they did most were not helpful or friendly. There were only a few that were. We loved Filamina in the Caribe buffet. She was great! Our housekeeper was ok. We felt like we were annoying the staff if we asked a question and even when tipping most acted like they could care less. We loved the climate and beautiful hotel along with a nice beach. There was quite a bit of seaweed which can't be prevented but wasn't appealing to stay in water long. Also at airport very very confusing and no communication there as to where to go or what to do. People were placed on lines waiting with no service at counters and no explanation either unless you tried to ask. If you chose helicopter helidosa excursion with lunch do not let them try to talk you into paying additional money. It's a scam to try to get you to pay more money than what you already paid for and your getting nothing extra. They try to make you think you are. So due to these circumstances more than likely we will not return to DR.

Cons: The food
Ms.Evelyn at guest services was amazing after Expedia had booked the wrong room for a party in my group,she got on the phone and assisted me the whole way through til it was sorted out. The entire time she was making sure we went ahead and made dinner reservations and got us drinks and we started enjoying our stay immediately although we were on the phone getting the problem resolved for at least two hours or so. The resort was very nice,the rooms were comfortable,and the view was great. The food left a little to be desired but wasn't horrible.The bartending and wait staff never seemed to even crack a smile but they made potent drinks and always tended to our needs.Overall it was a place that I would return to.

Nice swimming pools, close to the beach

Plenty of restaurants and great variety of food and beverages. Nice, large pool and very close to the beach. The people are very friendly and attentive. Plenty of smiles. Good service.

Wonderful location to beach, bar and restaurants.

Great time for our second year at this hotel. All activities are only a minute walk from our room Beach- Best!!! Room- Very clean and comfortable Restaurants- Good food. Buffet breakfast and lunch was very good: Dinner was OK Theme Restaurants were Wonderful!!

Was fun food was not very good. The drinks were not very good some bartenders were not very friendly.

Nice hotel, great beach

The bar staff and servers were great! Some of the cleaning staff were not as friendly. Our card reader for the door lock was old and difficult to open the door, it was frustrating. The grounds and pool were beautiful and spread out. The restaurants and night club/shopping were all great! It was quite an impressive stay. We were very satisfied.

Hotel was very close to the beach

Pros: The beach and Adults Only
Cons: Bathroom could have been better
Location: Excellent location
We had an awesome family vacation, The beach was beautiful and the adults only, all inclusive aspects were fantastic. I would highly recommend.

They should do the right thing from the beginning.

We arrive to Barcelo Bavaro Beach and There was an issue, where they told me my room wont have ocean view, when expidia people that sold the room told me it would have ocean view. As Gold Member I ask if there was any upgrade available and they say yes, but will cost me more money, I told them as Gold Member they should offer me the room as courtesy, they didnt until the 2dn day, that they leave a note on my room asking me to call guest service. They should done this since we arrive. We had to pack again loosing the morning, because everything is super slow there, and that Tuesday no one made my room! The Service on the pool was super slow. No one notice we arrive until 30 min I had to call a lady accross the pool, she said "i am going in one second sr" another 15 min to take my order, then (as I was planing) I give her 400 Pesos ( like 8 dollars ) and service improved considerably. When I got transferred to the upgrade Junior Suites from Bavaro Beach to the Barcelo Palace, I noticed the service was much better, I couldn't understand if we were no that much people in the Barcelo Adults only, and there was a lot of people in the palace. Custome Server need more People like the person that step ahead and look for a solution her name ( Hiltalia ) she really have the sense of customer service and save our 5 out of 7 Days we stay. Staff on Restaurant was nice. Waiters on Buffets are really slow, they forget to bring you what you ask often, the best service was in La Brisa!
