Nice room with good view and near to the beach!

Pros: Room service, food and fast internet.
Cons: Replace traditional old furniture especially in the public areas.
Location: Nice, just a good 25 min. travel to the airport.
We are from NJ USA and stayed with my son and wife at the adults only for 5 nights and bought the optional premium level benefits. Our check-in was quick and was done in just probably about 15 min. We have a decent size room on the 3rd floor and gave us 3 full size comfortable beds with clean bed sheets. Also with nice elevator access for our everyday use. The room have 2 sinks , a bath tub with shower, digital safe vault, iron with ironing board, ref. which is always full with sodas, water, a bottle of Barcelo rum and a tilting TV. There is also access to the Premium lounge for members only with free internet and good variety of snacks. I liked the most is the free fast internet service and basically use them all the time. The room service was great and was always cleaned during our stay. We even order a late night snack service and was delivered to us promptly on real plates, forks and knives. We always take care and give a tip everyday to our service woman who takes care of our room. She is excellent doing her work for us during our stay. On our first night we watched the regular night show in the Adults only and the following nights we get the tram and watched the nightly shows at the Barcelo Palace. All the the shows were fantastic with live bands performing to go with the entertainers. It was a very good or even excellent 1 hour nightly entertainment show. The buffet is excellent with good variety of hot food, salads, fruits and deserts for breakfast and lunch

nice hotel close to the beach and the airport

Cons: I wish the staff would smile more The rooms could be a little more tidy, especially the bathrooms
the hotel itself was pleasing to see, the campus is a bit larger than we were used. The entertainment and ability to take the train to the other side of the beach was a plus. Though we did not experience the excursions, there was plenty to do. The staff though mostly friendly, did not smile often. Check in was a bit challenging, but the overall experience was better each day. I'm sure there were better rooms, but we came at a time when a medical conference was in session. I honestly believe we had an overflow room.

Very close to the beach

Pros: The staff were always friendly and attentive.
Cons: Air conditioning and extraction fans should be checked on a regular basis
Location: Very quiet fairly remote location
The hotel has definitely got issues with damp! I have stayed before and have had no problem but this time my room was very damp. I was upgraded to a junior suite but it certainly wasn’t the best. My clothes and bedding were always cold and damp.

Beautiful beach property

Great place to stay and enjoy the beach. The location, facilities and amenities were excellent. There is everything for everyone to enjoy at Barcello Beach

Great beach, rooms need updating

Pros: The pool and restaurants were top notch.
Cons: The rooms are horrible for what you pay.
Location: Not much to add here as we stayed in the resort complex.
Stayed here for a week in November with my wife and another couple. The beach is excellent. The pool is superb, minus not having a swim up bar in the adults section. The buffet is good with lots of options. The onsite entertainment and staff are friendly and excellent. The restaurants are all very good and worth going Premium just to get all the reservations you want. The rooms in the adults only side need to be torn down to the studs and rebuilt. They are old and musty. Patch job after patch job. If I had to sum up my stay at this resort, everything was 4 or 5 star everywhere, except when you retreated back to your room. Felt like for the money I spent on this place, my bathroom ceiling shouldn't be caving in, the AC should work, the mini fridge should stay cold AND stocked, and the lighting shouldn't feel like I need a flashlight in the bathroom just to see. Personally, if I went back, I would stay on the Palace side in the Junior Suites, which are located in between the Palace and the Adults only resort, as they are newer and almost the exact same layout as the rooms on the adult only side. You spend your whole trip walking up and down the boardwalk between all that Barcelo has to offer, so you may as well spend an extra buck or two and get the nicer rooms. Lovely people and a great beach!

Relaxing beach vacation

Relaxing beach vacation at the adults only portion of the resort. Comfortable, well apportioned, room with an ocean view even though not oceanfront. Friendly and helpful staff. Buffet restaurant was good for breakfast lunch and dinner. The Mexican specialty restaurant was our favorite. We have stayed in the Dominican republic multiple times so we did not do any tours on this trip. We wanted a relaxing beach vacation and that is exactly what we got. Plenty of chairs for everyone. Large beach. For those needing a little extra activity, the adjacent property has a swim up bar multiple pools multiple restaurants, as well as a large shopping area. Both properties have a theater with rotating shows nightly.

Room had a toilet that did not flush. They tried fixing it and did not readily change the e room until we insisted. Moved to a room where the water leaked into the bedroom when we showered. Did not want to move again..

Loved our stay!

We loved it! We've traveled to multiple tropical destinations and this hotel was one of the best. The food is the best we have ever tried. The staff is friendly and welcoming. The only downside is that there are so many buildings that you have a far walk to the main lobby where they have food and entertainment. It's a hassle to walk back and forth multiple times a day. But other than that everything was excellent!

Worst Vacation We’ve Ever Experienced

I would like to preface this review with saying that we rely on the “Review” sections immensely before booking our vacations, so i felt it was important that we shared our experience with others- especially because both me and husband travel quite extensively and often through Europe, Mexico and the Caribbean Islands. This was our first time in DR and chose this Punta Cana because we only had 4 days for a vacation and we’re looking for a quick retreat- we flew out of NJ which is only a 4 hour flight. After our flight being delayed and 14+ hours of travel, we finally arrived at Barcelo Bavaro Beach- Adults Only late Thursday afternoon on Nov. 9, 2017. Upon check-in, we were told we were “Primary Level” members which was the highest option and that we would need to check-in at a different location- which was true, we reserved 5 months in advance an Ocean Front facing room- Premier Level at the Barcelo Bavaro Beach- Adults Only. Note: There is a sister hotel next door connected to this hotel which is the cheaper option and allows kids and families. After checking in through the Premier Level Convierge, we were told that we were being upgraded which we were thrilled about, especially since it was our first trip to this resort and we really wanted to take advantage of everything they had to offer. They then drove us to the other hotel (the cheaper option), and brought us to what looked like a sleezy motel room, which was not on the beach. Dirty, mice everywhere.
