Great Beach Getaway

Posted Jan 24, 2016
Pros: Very beautifully landscaped, beautiful, spacious room.
Cons: They had vendors on the property trying their wares. It felt a little invasive and we found ourselves trying to avoid them after a while.
I stayed at Be Live Canoa in January 2016 with my honey for our 20 year anniversary. It is just what it is described to be: an all inclusive resort in a beautiful tropical location. The grounds were beautifully landscaped, and the staff was friendly and accommodating. Even though English is not their first language, most staff spoke some English and we were able to convey what we needed. They are all multi lingual, switching to English, French or German as needed. It was quite impressive. Every day there was a list of activities going on mainly at the pool and beach area. These were things like learn to dance, aerobics, and games like water polo or pool volleyball. There is also kayaking, parasailing and other water sports as well. The hotel offered excursions, and there is no shortage of people scattered around the property approaching you and trying to get you to take an excursion. It felt a little invasive at first, but if you tell them in the beginning that you're not interested, they leave you alone. But you may have 4-5 different people approaching you to take their excursion. Same thing with the people trying to get you to upgrade to VIP. But again, they leave you alone if you tell them you're not interested. The food is incredible. There is a buffet with all types of food and restaurants as well. All included! Plus all you can drink as well The nightly shows were amazing and we looked forward to them every night. All in all, it was a great getaway..

Great entertainment staff- music, nightclub, price

Posted Jan 18, 2016
Pros: Great staff, nightclub, easy walk to the beach, restaurant and entertainment from rooms. Felt very safe! The beach is beautiful, although rocky areas.
Cons: Fumigate against mosquitoes! they claim they do it 3x/wk- Then maybe daily is required, Use only water based paints, and don't book people x2-3 days
Location: Beautiful tropical setting, beautifully maintained. Loved how close it was to the beach, pool, restaurants from all rooms. It had all I wanted inside
Easy check in, the staff was very accomodating when we arrive early, and stayed late and when we asked to change one of our rooms due to strong odor of fresh paint. The entertainment staff was incredible! lots of mixers, great music and dancing under the stars. Loved the Brazilian Churrasqueria Restaurant - great fillet mignon and more! Wish they addressed mosquito control more aggressively ! that was my biggest complaint. Beach was beautiful with opportunity for lots of water sports and activities with the great 'Animation staff' ! Just make sure you bring water sandals to protect your feet from the rocks in certain areas of the beach.

Beautiful grounds, great beach, wonderful staff

Posted Dec 29, 2015
My husband and I stayed for 2 weeks and absolutely loved every minute of it. We upgraded our room to a VIP package (purchased on Expedia), and it was definitely worth the extra money. We had a third floor room facing the beach with a view that was breathtaking. The room made our vacation - comfy bed, custom order pillows, walk-in shower, private big balcony, beautiful floors. The VIP lounge was also very nice (excellent bar and snacks all the time) and we felt very well taken care of. In particular, Julio and Kereyni were amazing! They made us feel like we were the only guests there. They were always very helpful, accommodating, and friendly. They became our friends! The VIP pool area and beach were also excellent - very clean & well kept. We loved the Brazilan & Mexican restaurants the most, and the buffets all had very good food. Food from room service was only ok - fish & pizza were the best choices. A "must do" is the Saona day trip on the catamaran! Wish we'd done it earlier in our stay, as we would have gone again! Absolutely our favorite day of the vacation. We really hated to leave! We will be back again!

awful is putting it nice.

Posted Dec 28, 2015
Took 2 hours to check in which consisted of them claiming to not have the confirmation from Expedia and there was nothing they could do but sell 2 more rooms directly to us (double pay). Get to the room and what was suppose to be a doubles in a room was one double bed and one double bed frame. There were no lights in the entire room except the bathroom lights, a tv with no remote and the friendly dead Jimmy the dead cockroach on the bathroom floor but the air conditioning did work. By the way Expedia owes me for two rooms.

Needs improvement FAST. Good late night Snack Bar

Posted Dec 21, 2015
Pros: The food at the snack bar was probably the best I've had..
Cons: SO MUCH! They may as well pay me. It has potential though.
Location: The area is beautiful. Bayahibe Beach is calm and great for families. The natural pools are nearby as well. Great location
The room bathroom was just horrible! It wasn't even one thing, it was many. The shower wet everything. There was moldy water under the sink where the water puddles tho the drain was on the other side. The towels could not look dingier and thinner. The mirror is next to the window in between the bed and long desk furniture. HORRIBLE. Don't know why when there is so much wasted space between the sofa and bed. The maid service did not have clean towels or water to replace in the roomAlthoug the next mornin. In fact, her response was, "so you don't need the room cleaned, right?" awful. I don't understand what needing a clean towel to take a shower and get ready for the beach or pool or water to brush your teeth has to do with cleaning the room but I answered "No" and over an hour later was still waiting on water and towels. I ended up using the floor mat since it hadn't been used the night before. NOT COOL! Although there were plenty of FREE cabanas throughout, it didn't really matter b/c they were holding towels although nobody was using them. The dorm size fridge in the bedroom was super loud. Louder than the air conditioning unit. I guess that would've been ok had it actually cooled what was in it. Apparently only 1 guest per room could drink coffee or tea because there was a serving for only 1 including only 1 mug. That made me chuckle. If you want a drink in the evening, be prepared to wait quite a bit. There is 1 bar open in the reception area and about

très proche de la mer

Posted Dec 17, 2015
