A big and nice hotel beach, hotel needs renovation

A big and nice beach, main buffet food is good, just 3 restaurants with not delicious food, mattress and pillows are very good. Hotel is old and should be renovated.

I went for a wedding so i did not do any research about the hotel. I thought was a good deal package but just when we walked in the lobby i discovered it was not!

Nice Hotel but, Far Away and their are Bed Bugs in

Pros: The service is very good in the restaurants, front desk and, with the staff. The beach is very nice!
Cons: The mattresses in the rooms need to be fumigated and/or changed for the bugs..... Also, the Steak Restaurant needs to put more meat on the Rib's Dish
This Hotel has great service and good attention to detail. But, it is not Located in la Romana, Dominican Republic; it is actually located in Bahiabia which is another 25+ miles east of La Romana. This doesn't seem much for U.S. standards of roads and highways but, the secondary roads in the D.R. are not the best. Also, a taxi from the airport in Santa Domingo/SDQ is absolutely outrageous at USD $160-170 one way for a 1hr 10min ride. Therefore, to not have to pay over $350 in Taxis to make this resort we rented a car from the SDQ airport which was much better. The food is good to Very Good but, the Dominican Restaurant is quite Good! Downside: The mattresses in the room had bed bugs. They need to be replaced or, fumigated!!!! My legs were bit with whelps every morning.

Beautiful resort

Don't let the few bad reviews stop you from staying here. This was my second time going to the Dominican, first time at Catalonia but it wont be the last. First of all the resort itself is beautiful. Everything is immaculate. The grounds staff if constantly working to make sure that it stays that way. Speaking of the staff everyone i mean everyone from the maintenence, housekeeping, front desk to the wait staff was wonderful. For those of you that had bad experiences I guess you should treat people how you would like to be treated. They do speak very broken English but we communicated with all just fine. If the language barrier bothers you don't go to another country for vacation. The food was excellent. My suggestion is to definitely upgrade to privileged. Access to the terrace restaurant is worth it. The ladies at the spa were wonderful. The massage is definitely worth getting. The beach is the absolute best. The water is calm and way more clear than in Punta Cana. Wasnt hassled too much to buy time shares(they push this at all of the resorts there) once they knew we werent interested they left us alone. Be careful of the guys that drag you to their shops down the beach. Way over priced and they are pushy. The bartenders were all wonderful. There is a huge selection of drinks and they aren't stingy with the pours. Overall we loved the catalonia. You will too. Enjoy your vacation!!

Pros: A equipe de animação muito agradável e dinâmica, a equipe do check in e do bar principal sempre atenciosa e simpática.
Cons: O Hotel necessita de uma reforma urgente: Hall do Chek In, Piscinas, Bar da praia, Anfiteatro, Bouffet de Refeições, Cadeiras da praia.
Location: Ficamos apenas dentro do Resort.
O Hotel necessita de uma reforma urgente nas áreas comuns: Hall do Chek In, Piscinas, bar da praia, Anfiteatro, Bouffet de Refeições: mesas e cadeiras antigas, vasilhas de servir as refeições com aspecto sujo, falta de opção para carne de boi (só cozida), treinar os funcionários para refazer as bandejas de frutas, não colocando frutas velhas ou amassadas, treinar os funcionários para grelhar as carnes que sempre estão esturricadas. Como ponto positivo temos a equipe de animação muito agradável e dinâmica, a equipe do bar principal sempre atenciosa e simpática e a equipe da portaria/Check in sempre pronta para resolver as solicitações. No segundo dia fomos convidados a uma café da manhã para apresentação de um programa de fidelização na qual previamente me propuseram escolher um brinde, que seria dado depois da apresentação, mesmo que não houvesse o fechamento do contrato de fidelização, o brinde não foi entregue até o dia de nossa saída, o que já era esperado por nós.

Very nice vacation

Cons: Some staff was a bit slow in serving especially at the Merengero's bar.We were badly treated by the membership staff who were very unpleasant and rude
This resort is located on the best stretch of beach in Bayahibe. Beach is well kept and the water is just pristine. We stayed two weeks all inclusive (not privileged). The room is comfortable, clean, simple and in a very traditional Caribbean style. Food was simply exceptional and so it was the entertainment offered by both the Italian and Dominican animation teams. We are considering a second stay.

It was very average. Rooms weren't super nice and I had a lot of plumbing issues.

Hotel room was horrible, nothing like the pictures

The hotel amenities where not what we expected. standard room doesn't come with an iron or clock. Staff is friendly and helpful.
