The property was beautiful, the staff was mostly nice. My 2 biggest concerns was finding mold in our room and the welcome package people (aka Time Share people) having the authority to call our room.

Resort was a good size, not huge and easy to get around. Staff were great as was the food. Only negative aspect is that people smoke everywhere. No designated areas like in most of the civilized world. Wife has alergies and second hand smoke is one of them. Sad that you have to limit where you go and lounge around to avoid this.

DO NOT STAY AT THIS HOTEL! FOOD IS HORRIBLE AND SCHEDULED. YOU HAVE TO EAT ON THEIR TIME. ROOM WAS DISGUSTING AND DID NOT LOOK ANYTHING LIKE PICTURES.BUG INFESTATIONS , GARDEN MILLIPEDES EVERYWHERE AND WORST OF ALL , ALL STAFF HAVE HORRIBLE ATTITUDES AND TALK ABOUT YOU TO THEIR COWORKERS IN YOUR FACE. THEY CONSTANTLY ASK FOR TIPS IN FOREIGN CURRENCIES . MAKE SURE YOU DONT ASK THEM FOR ANYTHING. OR BETTER YET STAY ANYWHERE ELSE.

From the moment we walked in, everyone was very nice and welcoming. Let me just say the staff were all chefs kiss. There were 2 specific bartenders that were the best! So full of life and smiles I grew to love them Ashley, and Carlitos!! There were others who were very loving and caring but I didn’t get their names. One girl took care of me once she seen my burns from the son. The staff who work the buffet are so sweet. I know it’s an all inclusive but please take money to tip the staff they’re so deserving of it. I can’t wait to come back

The property was good our room phone did not work so they had to come and fix it, the spa canceled our appointment then had a hard time correcting the problem. One morning we woke up there was no water. The food however was very good and we enjoyed the fact that room service was available whenever we needed. We enjoyed our honeymoon but I think for our anniversary we will choose differently.

The service was very hit or miss from the dining and front desk staff. The resort almost seemed to want you to purchase drinks and snacks from their mini mart based upon a lack of options within the room. The front desk staff was very rude, gave us the wrong room when we had paid for an upgrade, and wouldn’t honor a late checkout. For the cost and lack of professionalism and service I would not recommend this resort.

As a flight attendant for 25 years I have to say, the service here is the worst I have ever had. The staff will look at you for tips, they will not go above and beyond for anything and the upgrade to the Swim Villas is NOT WORTH IT!! You have your own pool but no waitress to bring drinks to you. When we called to ask if one of the waitresses from either pool area could swing by and bring us drinks, we were told No, You can walk and get a drink yourself. Additionally, we requested a carafe of coffee to be brought to our room as we drink a lot and prefer it cold, again, NO, you can make it yourself. AC in room never goes below 74 degress and there is only hot water for one person to shower. Food is great and the grounds are meticulous, that is the only positive things about this place. I made a hair appointment at the spa when I showed up, they told me they could not accommodate me. I told them I had an appointment and they said, I know, but we are not doing it! I will be sure to never recommend this place to anyone. The staff need to learn the art of politeness and customer service. Book at TRS Turquesa or Majectic Elegance instead!

We had a nice vacation except for the " membership presentation " which we were tricked into attending and wasted our first full morning at the resort. We were told it was a " welcome" breakfast but not a sales pitch. No mention of activities available etc. as I had expected. The rest of the week was very nice. Lovely beach, pool and great food.

The worst thing in the stay was what was called : Welcome breakfast. I thought why not?? In reality 1) breakfast itself was so so - any regular breakfast on the property is better than this "exclusive" one 2)signing to it you are getting into 90 min sales process 3)after 2 hours we still could not get the price or details of the what was offered 4) we backed off

The resort was beautiful. It was relaxing. They had nightly entertainment. I wished that they had more daytime and pool activities for the adults to do. The restaurants were nice the beach clean and enjoyable. The staff were hands down amazing! Lennin and John was hands down awesome!! Very attentive great Customer service very friendly warm and inviting. Jessica at swim up bar great!!!! Wilmer awesome and victor a true gem!! But lennin and John the best!!!!!! The resort was relaxing and they made the stay much better!!!! We will definitely be going back.

Property was beautiful and the staff was magnificent especially Andreina at the buffet and Alberto #1 at Sea Blue. Dinner on the beach was delicious. Only restaurant we did not like because the food was cold and tasted old was Tao Cat. Also staff did make alot of noise early in the morning which was not fun. A lot of people are trying to sell you at all times which we did not like but besides that we enjoyed our stay. If they try to make you schedule your breakfast on the first day, don’t unless you’re interested in purchasing the travelers club.

My stay at the Catalonia was an enjoyable time, the facilities were good for the most part, the staff understood and spoke English mostly, but there were few language barriers, nothing that wasn’t able to be figured out. Everyone was friendly except for the staff that worked specifically with the spa area, which was disappointing. The restaurants were okay, the food was not great, but not terrible. Occasionally we would get sales pitches about excursions, we did one and it was fun and completely safe. I wouldn’t recommend leaving the resort alone, lots of run down and abandoned buildings from the airport to the resort. The resort was very clean, however room service didn’t clean until later in the day. I had no service and the wifi was very poor and selective on when it worked. The TV was a majority Spanish channels, entertainment shows were performed nightly and water sport activities were done around noon time. Drinks were delicious and strong. I had a fun time at the Catalonia hotel.

This was my second visit to Catalonia and I loved it just as much as the first time (in 2016). The staff, the beach and the convenience of having everything I could need at the resort keep me coming back. 10/10 recommend

Stayed at this resort for 4 nights. From the arrival to the resort we started getting pushed into their exclusive membership club. We ate at 3 of their dinner restaurants and other 2 of their breakfast and restaurants. Also tried room service. The food is MEDIOCRE at best. Borderline bad. We stayed in one of their deluxe junior suite. The TV had a blown speaker, i called 4 times from the room and visited the front desk reception twice to try and get it fixed. The shower glass was cracked from side to side. Which gave the room a ghetto ambiance too. The beach was full of seaweed and broken glass. I honestly have no clue how they can have 5 stars anywhere following the name of this hotel. Some of the staff were really friendly but you can expect that from anyone in the Caribbean. We did not feel comfortable or as we had gotten what we paid for. Not recommended.

Very chill vibe and the resort is beautiful. We have no idea why some of the reviews are so bad. None of those issues happened on our stay. They do try to upsell you and get you to sign up for excursions, but that was it. We declined that. Book reservations immediately for restaurants because it takes days to get into the best ones. We had a ton of day time fun and the nights are laid back. Tipping the staff goes a long way too. We had baths drawn for us with rose pedals and got plenty of beer and water brought to our room sometimes without even asking. Weather was beautiful and the stay was perfect for 5 days

Resort was small and quiet for a mature adult-only experience. Laid-back European vibe. Rooms are spacious. Only negative is that the resort did not police the selfish behaviour of guests who would "claim" prime pool and beach locations by placing their towel on the recliner at 8:00 am and leaving it there, all day, whether they were there or not. Resort should prohibit this behaviour.
