Excellent Vacation

Pros: Everything....the staff, beach, location....loved it all.
Cons: For the swim up rooms it would be nice to have umbrellas on the patio to offer shade.
From the time we checked in until we left the staff went out of their way to make sure we were happy. This is the second time we have stayed at an Excellence Resort and will definitely go back. The restaurants offer a wide variety of food options and you are notified the night before on what restaurants will be closed the next day. You can simply go to relax or participate in many different activities offered each day.

Pros: Spotless. Loved the room. Everyone was very accommodating and very friendly
Cons: nothing
Location: We loved the resort. We chose to stay at the resort. There was plenty to do.
It was an awesome vacation. The staff was wonderful from checking in to checking out. They were helpful with everything. The food was fantastic. Loved being near the beach.

Beautiful resort right on the beach.

Thus was the 1st vacation my husband and I took in years, and was the best time we've had in a long time. The resort was fabulous and the staff was beyond friendly and accommodating. Extremely clean and comfy room with a spectacular view of the main pool and beach. Although it rained a bit each day, the sun was out the majority of the time. We felt safe, relaxed and well-pampered during our stay and we can't wait to go back!!

Excellent staff, view, & honeymoon

Me and my husband went here for our honeymoon & it was shall I say excellent?! The staff is absolutely amazing. They will do anything for you. My champagne glass was never empty either! We would recommend this place to anyone! Can’t wait to go back!!

Staff could not have been better!!!

Pros: Beautiful beach and scenery. Wonderful staff!!! there was less at the end of the week due to closure.
Cons: Would love to go back and experience what the resort could have been without the problems
Location: Great Excursions! Didn't need to leave much because of all the entertainment they provided.
BAD experience!!!! Had my vacation end of June 2017, Heard renovations on the resort would start July 1st, 2017. Was assured the reno would not effect our stay! Wrong, The Casino was closed the entire time, only one pool open, didn't get my ocean view room until the following day. So had to move the next day. Four or Five restaurants were closed at one time or another. Never knew which one would be open. One night the restaurant may have been the Lobster house next night the grill. They did put out a flyer each morning but that was wrong stating which ones would be open. Fridge didn't work the first day. Phones were out for almost four days, so no room service. Had to go to front desk the night before to get room service for breakfast. and on top of that air condition went out to our unit. No air condition for 2 days and 2 nights. Was miserable! I never ever paid this much for a vacation. We definitely did not get the 5 star treatment we paid for! Seems like they started the renovations in June. They were hauling phones from rooms, ceiling fans, gutting the unit beside us. I really feel they should give us free nights for my next vacation.

In preparations for the official commencement of the renovation works, buildings were gradually being cleared out by emptying available rooms and closing of some unoccupied room buildings and hallways. Furthermore, given your feedback about the A/C and phones, we apologize for not exceeding the expectations. Please do be advised that your comments have been forwarded to the related departments and management for the revision of our policies and standards in order to prevent this from occurring. One of Our BEST Vacations!!!

Pros: The staff makes your vacation a great experience!!!
Cons: The musty smell in the rooms
Location: Don't know we didn't leave resort
From the time we stepped out of our airport shuttle we were warmly "WELCOMED HOME" by Edwin. The check in process was fantactic! The entire staff at the Excellance were fantastic especially CASANDRA, SPAGETTI and ALEXANDER aka SEXY MONKEY. Service was great all over the resort. We upgraded to the club and service was even better there. The food is excellant for an all inclusive and the drinks were ok. Only issue we had was with our room from the time we checked in there was a musty smell so we were told to make sure all the doors wee closed and put on the air conditioning so the air would filter out the smell-it didn't so we called again and they sent omeone in who basically sprayed Fabreeze around helped for about an hour and then the smell was back. Asked a few other people we were with and they said they had the same problem.

Trip to Dominican Republic

Pros: Nothing. But El Carmen was great after the first 2 days.
Cons: not telling us that the hotel was under renovation was a big issue. Also, the issue with the double beds was a major problem.
Upon our arrival at Excellence Punta Cana we had a great welcome from the bell staff. However, after checking in, David at the front desk informed us in passing that our request for one of the rooms to have a double bed couldn't be honored since the hotel had no rooms with a double bed. My wife and I were travelling with our two mothers and we had planned for them to share a room with 2 double beds. We couldn't have our mothers sleeping in a king bed for the 6 nights we were planning to stay. David wasn't really any help either as he thought it was a good idea to laugh at the situation. David was very dismissive and really didn't want to help us and even argued with my wife when she told him she didn't like his attitude. We had to insist vehemently that we needed 2 beds in the room. To try to appease us David tried to get house keeping to add a queen bed to one of the rooms with a king bed. Now, the room was all cramped and the access to the patio was blocked by this queen bed. Needless to say this isn't acceptable at the price point we were paying. We had to then talk to the manager and he was excellent and found a solution for us, which was to go to Excellence El Carmen and book a third room at a discounted rate. We left right away for Excellence El Carmen and checked in there. The next morning we found a leak in the ceiling in our bathroom. We reported the leak and it remained unfixed for another day. We were then moved to a new room.

Waves and great people

Pros: See above, the french restauarant was good.
Cons: I can't think of anything, except the Mexican food was not so hot.
Location: Far from the madding crowd. Romance and quiet, but you could surf!
Everyone was helpful, friendly and smiling. We asked to move our room to an upper floor and it was done immediately. Beautiful place with botanic gardens, birds, tennis, nice gym, good food, great shows, excellent beach, long long pool, and quiet when you wanted quiet.

They had already begun the remodeling while we were there. The casino was gone and we were looking forward to it at night. 2 restaurants were closed. The drinks were terrible. And my husband had his credit card stolen from our room. We contacted Orbitz while we were there and that was a joke. I was on hold forever and absolutely no solution was offered to our issues. I won't be going back there and I will not be using Orbitz either. And I will let others know about my experience with both.

We stayed at Excellence Punta Cana for our honeymoon and everyone was so accommodating, so friendly, and so helpful with everything we needed. It was absolutely beautiful and the perfect choice for anyone who is traveling to the Dominican for the first time!! We had the time of our lives and can't wait to come back here!
